Mira’s POV}

“Mira!”

David’s voice chased after me, but I refused to stop. I kept walking. The tears streaming down my face blurred the lights around me, yet I didn’t slow down. Every step felt heavier than the last, but turning back wasn’t an option anymore.

“Mira, wait!” His footsteps drew closer. A hand almost touched my arm before I pulled away without looking at him.

. “Don’t touch me.” My voice was barely above a whisper, yet it carried every ounce of pain I had left.

    I had barely reached the top of the stairs when I heard David’s footsteps behind me.“Mira.”I stopped. For a moment, I closed my eyes, trying to gather whatever little strength I had left. I didn’t want another explanation. I didn’t want another excuse. I didn’t want another conversation that would somehow end with me being the unreasonable wife.But David continued walking toward me. “Mira, wait.”I slowly turned around. He stood a few steps below me, his expression serious. “What?” I asked quietly.“We need to talk about Vanessa”I almost laughed. “Of course we do.”He frowned. “What is that supposed to mean?”I walked back down a few steps until we were standing face-to-face. “You made a decision in front of me, David. You decided that Vanessa could stay with your mother without even asking me what I thought about it.”His jaw tightened. “She needed somewhere to stay.” “And that gives you the right to decide everything without me?”“Mira—”“No.” I raised my hand. “You made your

    Mira’s POV}Vanessa stood in the doorway, her expression calmer than mine. “I came because there’s something you both need to know.” I stared at her, waiting. She took a slow breath. “I’m having a problem with my accommodation.”David frowned. “What happened?”“My rent is due soon, and…” She hesitated. “I don’t have enough money to renew it.”I looked at David. He remained silent.Vanessa continued, “I know this isn’t the best time to come here, especially with everything happening, but I really don’t know what else to do.”My stomach tightened. “What exactly are you asking for?” I asked.She looked directly at David. “I was thinking I could come and stay here for a while.”My heart went completely still. I almost laughed. Stay here? With us? Vanessa seemed to notice my expression, but she continued anyway.“David is Leo’s father. His first son shouldn’t be without a proper place to stay when his father has a mansion like this.”I stared at her. “So you want to move in?” She shook

    {Mira’s POV} “MIRA!” David’s shocked voice echoed through the hallway. I froze. He stood in the doorway, staring down at me. I was still sitting on the floor beside his door, my back against the wall and tears covering my face. There was no point pretending I hadn’t been crying. My swollen eyes and tear-stained cheeks had already told him everything. For a few seconds, we simply stared at each other. His expression changed. Shock. Then confusion. Then guilt. “Mira…” I quickly pushed myself off the floor. I didn’t want to look at him. I didn’t want him to ask me why I was crying. Most of all, I didn’t want to hear another excuse. I turned and walked away. “Mira, wait.” I kept walking. He followed me. “Mira.” I felt his hand grab my wrist. I stopped immediately and turned around. “Let me go.” “Mira, it isn’t what you think.” I stared at him. My heart was breaking, yet he still had the courage to tell me that it wasn’t what I thought. “I heard everything, David.” He

    Mira’s POV}David picked up his phone. “Hello, Mum.” Because he had put the call on loudspeaker, I could hear Evelyn’s voice clearly from where I sat.“How are you, David?”“I’m fine, Mum.”I lowered my eyes to my food, pretending not to listen. But something about the way David answered made me curious. His voice sounded different. Softer. Almost like a little boy speaking to his mother. I didn’t know why, but I wanted to hear what they were going to talk about. David suddenly stood up. He looked at me for a moment before walking toward the hallway.I watched him disappear into the room. Then I heard the door close. For a few seconds, I remained seated. I told myself to mind my business. I told myself I didn’t care. But my heart refused to listen. I slowly stood up and followed him. When I reached the door, I stopped. I could still hear them. The phone was still on the loudspeaker. I pressed myself against the door and listened.“Mum, there’s a lot happening right now.”“What happen

    {Mira’s POV}As soon as I stepped into the sitting room, I froze. Someone was sitting on the couch. My heart dropped.Sharone.For several seconds, I simply stared at her, unable to understand what I was seeing. Of all the people I expected to find in my house, she was the last person I wanted to see. She looked up and noticed me standing there. “Mira,” she greeted softly. I didn’t answer immediately. My eyes moved around the room before returning to her.“What are you doing in my house by this time?”Sharone shifted uncomfortably on the couch. “I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have come here without warning, but I had no choice.”“No choice?”She nodded. “David is cruel.”My eyebrows pulled together. “What?”“I’ve been calling him, but he refuses to pick up my calls.” I stared at her in disbelief. “So you came to my house?”“Yes.”I folded my arms across my chest. “Then where is David?”Sharone looked toward the hallway. “He welcomed me in.”My eyes widened. “He did?”“Yes. Mira’s POV}“You just found out about Sharone?” Vanessa’s words echoed in my head. I swallowed hard. “You mean… you already knew about his second baby mama?” There was a long silence on the other end.“Yes,” Vanessa finally answered.My fingers tightened around the phone. “You knew?”“Yes, Mira.”I stared at the wall in front of me, unable to believe what I was hearing. “You knew David had another woman? Another child?”“Yes.”Her answer was calm. Too calm. I felt something inside me break. “Did David tell you about her?”“No.”I blinked. “Then how did you know?”Vanessa sighed. “It’s not important.”“It is important!” I snapped. “You’re telling me you knew my husband had another baby mama, and you never thought to tell me?”“You’re his wife, Mira. If he wanted you to know, he should have told you himself.” Her words cut deeper than I expected. “So David didn’t tell you either?”“No.” I laughed bitterly. Of course. The man had somehow managed to keep everyone informed except me. I
