Pixie’s POV:

You’ve got to be kidding me.

I floor the gas pedal, not caring about the screeching sound that probably woke the entire pack house. My heart races, pulse beating in my ears. I glance at the rearview mirror, and my stomach twists when I see them gaining on me, their wolves charging like wild beasts.

My breath catches, the mind link still open, their voices echoing in my head.

“Pixie, stop the truck,” Ethan’s voice is low, commanding. The kind of voice that would make any sane person think twice before disobeying. But then again, I’m not exactly sane.

“Yeah, you really don’t want us to catch you, sweetheart,” Cole’s voice follows, taunting, with that playful lilt that only makes me more determined to keep going.

I grip the wheel tighter. “You think I’m scared of you two? Get lost!” I snap back, cutting the link before they can respond.
