Dante

We were both leaning in, neither one wanting to look away.

And then there was a sharp, metallic click. The sound repeated. Once. Twice, and then three times. The click of three triggers being pulled back resounded through the room, turning the stillness into something loaded.

I hesitantly turned my head, only an inch, to see what was in the room with me. Eduardo's men, the three suits who'd been standing there like ornamental statuary a moment before were now with guns in their hands aiming at me.

One aimed for my head. Another for my chest. The third... well, he was aiming for the table but we both knew that just gave him first shot on anything that moved. I breathed a long, almost chuckling sigh and leaned back into my chair.

Eduardo’s voice came out smooth. “It doesn't have to be messy, Dante. You can agree and we split as friends.”

I chuckled low. “Friends? You bring guns out into my office, waving em around and you still got a fucking word.”

A faint smirk played around his

Valeria’s POVI froze at Rodrigo’s words. The sentence echoed in mind in a way I wasn't sure if be able to recover from. I turned around, turning my gaze to Dante. He stared at me, with his cigar held between his fingers as if this wasn’t quite the most embarrassing moment of my life.Rodrigo was fuming, his chest was heaving, but his eyes, when it turned to me, contained something softer, almost desperate. “Valeria, let me get you out of here. I’ll pay whatever it costs. You don’t belong here.”I wanted to scream. I yearned to ask him why he said these things in front of Dante, and why he was treating me like a possession to be bartered. I felt my face and throat flush and my chin tilting down to my chest but Dante’s eyes remained on me, weighing me down heavily. Finally, Dante stood. His chair scraped across the floor, in a harsh way. “She’s not for sale,” he said with a cold voice. Rodrigo chuckled hoarsely. “Then why is she dressed like that? You shamed her and you would call th

  • Betrayed And Sold To The Mafia King   A Stranger’s Face

Valeria’s POVI was folding laundry in my room when someone knocked the door. Before I had a chance to say anything, the door swung open and a man dressed in black from stood there, with an expressionless face. “Come out,” he ordered.I froze for a second. “Now?”“Yes. The Boss wants you.” His tone was strict. I glanced down at myself. I was wearing the same clothes Dante had forced me to wear around the villa. Clothes that screamed nanny. I clenched my jaw. “Can I at least change?”“No.” He gestured impatiently. “Get moving.”I hid my irritation, snatched up my little bag and followed him out. I had no idea what Dante had in store for me, and for the fact that they didn’t even let me to change, I already knew that I wasn’t going to like it.There was a black car waiting outside. Without a word, the door was opened for me. I slid in, my body rigid, and my mind racing. The tension in the car was palpable and nobody said anything. The driver stared straight ahead. I placed my fingers

  • Betrayed And Sold To The Mafia King   The Bold Demand

DanteThe atmosphere in the space was deadening. I didn’t move. Rodrigo's first son's eyes met mine, a man brave or stupid enough to say that to my face.Inside, my blood simmered. I leant back, as my fingertips just graced the cold metal of the armrest. When I finally spoke, my voice was steadier, lower, almost bored.“I don’t know who you’re referring to,” I stated, still not breaking eye contact with him. “I have many people under me. What next, you think I can add up all the names that you toss into the air?”The man smiled, his nose practically touching the table. He had this implacable assurance in his eyes that had my men tensing behind me.“I’m not throwing this out there,” he said, with all due boldness. “The woman I want is the one you have confined in your villa. Valeria.”I shivered when I heard him mention her name. Although my face didn't fail me. I let the words dangle in the air as they burned slowly as my cigar did between my fingers.“…Valeria?” I repeated, my tone c

  • Betrayed And Sold To The Mafia King   The Dogs Secret

ValeriaThe late afternoon sun peeped in lazily into my bedroom through the curtains. I didn’t want to stay indoors today as I had my eyes set on only one goal. I tied my hair in a loose knot and threw on a simple dress and stepped outside. The villa was quiet today. The guards who stood rooted at their posts stared at me with a tight and unfriendly expression, but I didn’t spare them a glance. My feet were light and quick, as I made my way towards the building where I had first seen the dogs.My lips curved into a little smile as I got closer to them. The dogs were so different. They looked fierce, strong and savage, and somehow to me I thought they looked more honest than the men who protected this estate. Unlike the men, the dogs didn't hide their intentions behind fake smiles or cold words. There was a low stone bench nearby, and I sat down on it, as my dress swept some dust, but that didn’t matter. I had my eyes glued to them as if they were the most interesting thing I'd ever se

  • Betrayed And Sold To The Mafia King   Power in the Shadows

DanteThe air in the room was covered in rich cologne. My chair tipped back as I leaned in it with my fingers drumming lightly on the armrest, studying him.Eduardo Rodrigo, the Rodrigo family's eldest son. He had dark hair that was slicked back neatly, as if he spent a lot of time making sure that every curl was in place, an expensive tailored suit and an arrogance that only came with having held too much power for far too long. There were three men with their hands in the pockets of their tailored suits, and their eyes moving over the room. My guys were splayed around, watching without a word.Politics ran deep in the Rodrigos. Their reach extended to the very height of government, but as powerful as they were, there were shadows were where they always had to summon someone on my level for help. Interms of guns, for connections, and protection. ‘And, in response, they managed to have the government get conveniently blind when it came to a few deliveries of mine. And it had always w
