[Tatiana’s POV]
Pain shoots through me as Knight’s words hit me like a ton of bricks. Biting back the sob that wants to escape, I scramble up and quickly pull on my clothes, then head to the door. As I reach, Knight appears behind me, yanking it open and shoving me out into the hall.
As I gasp in shock and turn to ask him once again why he was doing this, he slams the door in my face, and I’m left with no answers and a giant hole in my heart.
Collecting myself, I turn and begin to move, heading for my room so that I can shower before the madam finds me and smells Knight’s scent on my skin.
When I arrive, I rush inside and quickly strip my clothes, then jump under the freezing water and begin to scrub as hard as I can, trying to remove the marks that remain on me, showing that what just happened was real and not a figment of my imagination, but even when my skin is raw and bleeding they remain.
Once I’m finished, I stumble out and wrap a towel around my body, then head out into my room to find Irene and Tabitha, the madam's personal maids, waiting for me.
"Tatiana," Tabitha beams, her golden eyes flashing with excitement. "We were just about to go in there and get you out."
"Why?" I ask, immediately going on alert. "Is there something the madam needs?"
"Of course not," Irene giggles. "We’re here for the young master."
Knight? Why would they be doing Knight’s bidding? Wouldn’t Yancy be responsible for that?
Something about this situation didn’t sit right, and the urge to run suddenly hit, but I continued to stand strong.
"And what is it that the young master needs?" I ask slowly, trying to keep the pain out of my voice. "Please do tell me so that I can…"
"For you to come to the banquet hall," Tabitha announces. "He and the others are waiting for you there."
"Others?"
Now I knew that something was up.
"That’s right," Irene giggles. "The bidders!"
"B-bidders?"
Fear begins to claw at me as that single word begins to dredge up memories of the past and when I was brought to Hunters Moon.
All those disgusting faces and the pleas of all who were bought and used for goddess knew what. They were still so fresh even after ten years and they caused a cold sweat to break out on my skin while my heart began to beat erratically.
"Why?" I gasp, looking around until my gaze comes to rest on the window behind me. "Why would there be bidders?"
"Didn’t you know?" Tabitha sighs. "When an omega turns eighteen, it is customary for them to be auctioned off to the highest bidder so that they can fulfill their role of being a breeder for whatever man decides to buy them. Did you truly think that you would be above that rule?"
Breeder? Auctioned? I never heard of such a thing! Was this some type of made-up thing to get rid of me? And they said the young master was the one there. Did that mean that this was all Knight’s doing? After sleeping with me and rejecting me, he was selling me off so that someone else could use me as they saw fit.
"No," I whisper, unwilling to go through that again. "I’ll die before I…"
Before I can finish my sentence, Tabitha and Irene surge forward and grab me while I begin to fight madly in an attempt to break free and end my suffering.
"Let go!" I yell, kicking out. "LET GO RIGHT NOW!"
"Cesear!" Irene yells, looking toward the door, where a large man enters with a broad smile on his face. "Do something about her, will you?"
Nodding, the man moves forward, and as he stops in front of me, he lifts a hand and then connects it with the back of my neck, turning my whole world dark.
I don’t know how long I was out before I was roused by a bucket of water being thrown on me, but when my eyes fly open, I find that I’m in a cage that is similar to the one I was in so long ago, and many men stare at me with the same looks of hunger on their faces.
"No," I whimper, slowly getting to my feet while my eyes scan the men until they come to rest on the one that I so desperately hoped wouldn’t be there. "Was this your plan all along?" I demand, surging forward only to be sent flying backwards as electricity zips through me from where I touched the bars of the cage.
"Begin the bidding," Knight announces, looking bored. "So that we can end this quickly and I can go and do something worth my time."
Worth his time... Ha! Of course I wasn’t ever worth his time; he proved it again and again as we grew up, but I was a fool to hope that would change since he was my mate.
As the bids begin, I keep my gaze fixed on Knight’s while willing the tears that wanted to fall to stay put.
When I finally tear them away, it seems that the bidding is over and there is a winner.
"For one million, she is yours, Giovani Petrov!" The auctioneer announces.
Tearing my gaze away from Knight's, I watch as a large man with silver hair and red eyes begins to make his way toward me.
When he stops, he fixes his gaze on me and takes me in as if he can’t quite believe that he is seeing me.
"Finally," he murmurs, letting a smile spread across his face. "I’ve found you."
Frowning, I try to make sense of what he means, but before I can think too hard on it, Knight is coming forward and unlocking the cage, then stepping inside.
"Giovani, do you have your seal with you?" He asks as two guards enter and grab me. "If so, please go ahead and mark her as yours."
Nodding, the man pulls out a small, round object that has what looks like a raven on it.
"Lift her shirt," Knight orders the guards who hold me. "And make sure that she doesn’t move."
Gasping, I find myself being pulled around as the guards do as instructed and then pin me against the ground while Giovani kneels beside me.
"Bear with it," he murmurs, once again causing confusion to rush through me. "This is strictly for formalities."
Not understanding what he meant, I attempt to move, only to stop as he places what he is holding against my skin and fiery pain shoots through me.
Once it is over, I’m too exhausted to fight and find myself being led out of the room and then out of the packhouse to a waiting black car. Once I’m inside, I turn to find Knight standing on the grounds watching me with an unreadable expression.
Silently cursing him, I lean my head against the glass of the car and close my eyes, wishing to never have to see Knight or Hunters Moon ever again.
[Tatiana’s POV]The sun is setting by the time the car I’m currently in stops in front of a large mansion with a black fence with barbed wire on it to keep whoever lives there in and those who aren’t welcome out.A shiver races down my spine as the man who had bought me gets out of the car and comes around to my side. As he opens the door, I scurry to the other side and watch with wide eyes as he leans over and stares at me."You don’t have to be afraid," Giovani announces gently. "I am not going to hurt you."Not hurt me? How could he say such a thing and expect me to believe it after he branded me with his mark and bought me? What the hell else did he intend to do?"Please, once you come inside, everything will be explained," he continues when I don’t move. "There’s a lot you don’t know," he sighs. "And a lot to be made up for."Frowning, I feel something in me twitch, just like when this man first approached me. Something in me felt like maybe he could be trusted, but that somethin
[Massimo’s POV]I sit alone in a small booth at the back of De Amore, one of the best strip clubs that exist in the city, and one of the most secured ones at that. Given my background, this was the only place I could truly go to be alone without worrying about my old man sending his men to stalk me.Sighing, I lean back further in my seat while a waitress with hooded eyes and a seductive look on her face pours some more liquor into my cup."Thanks," I murmur, leaning forward and grabbing it. "You can go now."A look of disappointment flashes across her face as I turn my gaze back to the stage in front of me, where women are dancing around poles, rubbing their bodies along them, and then dropping low while all those seated around throw dollars at them.I didn’t know why I continued to come here when I knew that it wouldn’t do any good to get her off my mind, but I hoped that one day something would change.I lift my drink, take a sip, and snap my fingers so the waitress appears again.
[Massimo’s POV]"Um," Tatiana’s voice is soft as she lifts her gaze to meet mine. "I’m sorry, but who are you?"That single question is like a knife to the heart. How could she have possibly forgotten me? Forgotten us?'Because of your mistake,' Zanos murmurs. 'You caused this, and now you're continuing to be punished.''Right,' I huff in response. 'I get it.'"Shall we have a seat?" Giovani suggests. "I promised that I would answer your question, didn’t I?""Right," Tatiana responds. "And you," she continues, fixing her gaze on mine. "You can also tell me who you are and what relationship we have.""Right," I sigh. "I suppose I got ahead of myself. After all, it has been so long since you disappeared from this place."Nodding, Tatiana untangles herself from my arms and takes a few steps back, drawing a clear line between us."Shall we head to the study then?" Giovani suggests, looking from me to Tatiana. We have photo albums in there that may trigger some memories."No one speaks as
[Knight’s POV]I climb out of my car and stare up at the large mansion in front of me while trying to figure out why I am even here. When I first received the invitation for Tatiana’s welcome home banquet, I swore to myself that I wouldn’t come. I had better things to do than attend such a ridiculous event, but as the days passed, the urge to go grew more and more until finally the day arrived, and here I was.Of course, I came alone since I didn’t want my parents to discover just who it was that they allowed me to sell off. I was sure that if they realized it, they would attempt to buy her back for their own purposes.Sighing, I begin to move toward the line that is standing just outside of the place and wait until it is my turn to show my invitation to the bouncer."Name?" he asks when I arrive."Knight Dilano," I respond, passing over my invite. "I was personally invited by your master."I could only assume this was Giovani’s way of thanking me for helping him find Tatiana, but it
[Tatiana’s POV]I wait as Massimo considers whether or not he will agree to allowing me to speak to Knight alone, but when his face softens and he nods, I know he isn’t going to fight it."If you need me, don’t hesitate to call," he murmurs, squeezing my shoulder.A low growl escapes Knight’s lips, taking me by surprise while Massimo seems amused, and I can’t help but wonder what in the world is going through his head."Come on," I sigh, wanting to get whatever it was he wanted to talk about done and over with. "I’ll be right back, Mass.""I’ll be here."Nodding, I begin to move, leading the way to the large patio that is attached to the room that we are in. It provided a nice view of the large pool that sat at the back of Onyx River and privacy from spying eyes.Once I stop walking, I whirl around and fix my gaze on Knight’s while he takes me in with an unreadable expression, and before I can even say a word, he is backing me against a wall and pinning me there."Who the hell is he?"
[Massimo’s POV]I stay with Tatiana until she cries herself to sleep and then decide that it is time to take care of business.Slowly, I get up and make my way across the room. After giving her sleeping figure one last time before heading out.Downstairs, the welcome-back banquet is in full swing even if the guest of honor isn’t present, and I can feel the bastards presence.I had to admit, he had some balls to stick around after reducing Tatiana to that, but no matter, this was even better for me.Straightening my suit, I head down and make my way to where he sits alone, drinking."Enjoying the party?" I ask, clamping a hand on his shoulder."What do you want?" He asks, knocking my hand off. "I don’t think we have any business, do we?""But we do," I counter, trying to keep myself from beating the shit out of him right here and now. "So would you mind having a chat with me?"Growing quiet, I wait as he stares at me as if trying to decide exactly what it is that I want, and when he se
[Massimo’s POV]Once the bastard is no longer in sight, I head inside, only to stop as the sound of voices rising and falling reaches me. Frowning, I slowly began to move forward while masking my aura so that I wouldn’t be noticed. When I reach a cracked office door, I stop and extend my senses."...According to plan," Giovania’s voice announces. "Just need time for her to adjust.""But what if she awakens before that?" Another voice that I don’t recognize counters It’s clear that it's a woman, but who she is or what her connection to Giovani was, "What then?""She won’t," he assures. "I’ve got this under control."Under control? Awakening? What the fuck were they talking about? It was clear that it involved Tatiana, but what exactly did any of that mean, and why did I get a sinking suspicion that neither man was up to any good?"Now I need to get back," Giovani announces. "Before anyone realizes I’m gone."Cursing, I realize that I needed to move. Not wasting any time, I rush back up
[Tatiana’s POV]In the blink of an eye, a month passed since I returned to Onyx River, and I was supposed to have fallen into the flow of things and begun to forget all about Knight and Hunters Moon, but it seemed like the moon goddess was laughing at me as I stared down at the test in my hands, taking in the two pink lines that sit on it."How?" I whisper, though I knew exactly how. That night, Knight and I didn’t use protection because it was so spur of the moment, and afterwards I was sold, and so much happened that I didn’t even think much of the fact that this was a possibility since I was an omega and he was an alpha.Honestly, I don’t even think I would have found out like this had I not been looking for something underneath my sink and knocked out the pads that had gone unused. This had to be some divine retribution for me allowing something like that to happen, but what was I going to do now? There was no way that I could tell Knight about this because I was sure that he woul
