BACK AT LIGHTCREST PACK

"You wont believe this!" Martha exclaimed as she dashed into Alexander's room. She found him in his study, leaning back in his chair and talking on the phone. She had a wide grin on her face as she waved an envelope, sealed with the royal ink, in the air. "The Lycan Queen sent us an invite."

"I'll talk to you later." Alexander breathed to the person on the phone, then snatched the envelope which contained the invite from her. "An invite to what?" He asked, ripping off the seal. His hands were unsteady as he took out the invite, his eyes gleaming over it.

"I don't know." She shrugged. "What does it say?" She leaned closer to him, trying to read the letter.

Without tearing his eyes away from the letter, Alexander rose to his feet. A small smile carved around his lips as he read the invite once more, to be sure he didn't misread it earlier.

"It's an invitation to a masquerade ball." He finally told her.
