My heart is racing in my chest after hearing those words from him. I look away from him, breaking the intense eye contact. I let go of the breath that I wasn’t even aware of holding in. My wolf giggles and begs me to kiss him.

If there is an award for suggesting stupid things at the wrong time, my wolf deserves that award more than everyone else. She pouts and argues with me that he loves us so everything is fair. I ignore her pleas and drama, rolling my eyes at her.

I wonder why he said that when that wasn’t the truth. After all the time I have spent with him, I have learned that it’s better to shut my mouth and wait for him to tell me his reasons because he is smart and does everything for a valid reason.

“You may leave. I will update you about what happens tomorrow,” Alex says, breaking the awkward silence between us.

“Okay. I will wait for your next call, then,” Ryker says in a stiff voice and gets up from his chair, pulling my hand with him and kissing it.
