INICIAR SESIÓNIvy POV
Alex pulled me into one last kiss before I finally forced myself to drag myself up the stairs to get dressed. I tried to break away, but he caught my wrist before I made it two steps, tugging me back into him hard enough that I yelped, laughing, right before he planted another kiss on my lips. His hands stayed warm and steady at my waist, and the whole world seemed to narrow down to the space between us, charged, breathless, and deliciously tangled.Ivy POV"Sorry I'm late," I said, finding Nina and Margo already at the restaurant.Nina visibly flinched when she saw me, her composure slipping for an instant before she forced a bright, smile and shifted uncomfortably in her seat."No, no, no problem, we just got here," Nina said, flustered. "What happened?" She reached out, concern plain on her face, and took my hand, her fingers cold against my skin."Got locked in a storeroom," I said, sliding into the chair opposite. "Trapped like an animal for an hour or so.""Oh, Goddess, are you okay? Did you complain to the manager?""We did," I said, picking up the menu and scanning it more to avoid her gaze than because I needed to decide."You said we. Someone got locked in with you?""No," I shook my head. "Brian found me."Nina flinched again, something like anger flashing behind her eyes before it vanished just as fast, smoothed away beneath a practiced
Ivy POVI turned back to the door for just a second, heart pounding. The air felt tighter in there, like I’d stepped into a trap and only now realized the jaws had closed."We need to check if he's okay first," Lux said, her voice a low, urgent rumble in my mind.I stopped, nerves jangling, then turned and made my way down the narrow passage between the shelves. The fluorescent lights barely reached the back wall, leaving thick shadows in the corners."Hello?" I called out. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"Deeper in the storeroom, I found a scatter of boxes on the floor. "Hi, can you hear me?" I called again, pulling boxes aside. My whole body went cold when I found absolutely nothing. Despite all the noise, there was no one there. No sign of the salesman, not even a shoe print or a stray tag.Every nerve in my body prickled, my hands turning icy. I spun on my heels and ran back toward the door, panic starting to claw at my throat.
Ivy POV"Are you sure about this?" Alex asked, sounding concerned as I grabbed my handbag and started to climb out of the car. His gaze lingered, sharp and searching, like he was hoping to spot something I’d missed."I am," I replied. "Gotta make nice with the one who grew up under my father's roof." I tried to sound casual, but my voice wobbled at the edges. The idea of finding my father of having a family at all still felt surreal, like a story I’d read in someone else’s book.Alex raised an eyebrow, skepticism plain on his face."Don't look at me like that," I said. "She's still the lady of the house until it's decided otherwise." I tried to summon confidence, but my stomach twisted. The truth was, I didn’t know what Nina would do next, only that I’d prefer to find out on my own terms.I let out a breath. "I can't replace—""You're the real heir," Alex cut me off, his words quiet but fierce."True, but no one knows th
Ivy POV"Ah, good, there you are," Nina called out, making her way to our table with a wide, easy smile, like she was genuinely happy to see us. Her confidence was effortless, her presence almost the definition of belonging, except for the way Alex bristled and the way Lux stiffened inside me."Everything was so perfect until she walked in," Lux growled in my mind, her hackles up.I ignored her and kept my gaze on Nina, determined not to show any weakness. "You could have called," I said, keeping my voice light, careful to sound casual."I misplaced my phone again," she chirped, like it was the most common thing in the world, and shrugged. "Clumsy me." Her smile never wavered, but I caught the flicker of calculation behind her eyes.Alex sat back in his chair, clearly unhappy about Nina interrupting us. His arms crossed, posture going defensive. I could feel the tension building."What do you want, Nina?" he asked, and her gaze f
Ivy POVAlex looked a bit more like himself after the meeting with the scouts. His shoulders were looser, his eyes clearer. For the first time that day, his smile was unguarded."He seems less anxious now," Lux said. "I hope he gets it.""Me too," I replied. The tension that had gripped him all morning seemed to have melted away, replaced by something lighter, like hope, maybe, or just relief. We were almost at the mall, one place I usually avoided. Not because I didn’t like shopping, but because you can't do much shopping without the resources for it. The idea of spending someone else’s money, or being treated, left a knot of discomfort low in my stomach. I didn't want to owe anyone. I didn't want to feel like a guest in my own life. And somehow I was already dreading this. I didn't like the idea of Alex taking me shopping. I'd rather buy my own clothes."Don't even think of bolting," Alex said, as if reading my mind. His tone w
Alex POVIt was the first time I'd seen Ivy reluctant to leave, maybe she was still riding the high of being a wolf, maybe it was everything that had happened, or maybe, just maybe, it was because she could feel the bond with her pack growing.Eventually she said her goodbyes. Her hug with Magnus lasted a moment longer than I expected, and Cassius squeezed her shoulder with a gentleness I hadn’t seen from him before. There was a new gravity in the way she looked at them, like she was already part of something bigger, something ancient and unbreakable.Magnus watched in silence as we climbed into the car and took our leave. Cassius had already said his farewell before rushing off to some pack emergency again. I took Ivy's hand and gave it a small squeeze, offering what comfort I could."Are you okay?" I asked. She slowly turned her head toward me and nodded."It just feels like I'm leaving them," she said, and I knew exactly what
