The Gyehna did not die that night, nor was he dead the next, despite the multiple attempts on his life after our bounty became the hottest gossip in the underworld.

Also, the board members refused to fuck themselves, so we were forced to attend yet another board meeting.

Caroline, the loud bitch, seemed to have a personal vendetta against Olivia. My suspicion was that she had grown a soft spot for Dean despite their endless arguments at board meetings.

She probably regarded him as her son in some way, because as soon as Olivia and I walked into the boardroom, the click of her stilettos heralding our entrance, Calorline’s mouth twisted into an ugly smirk.

Her bloodred manicured nails drew lazy lines on the glass table-top.

“Hello,” Olivia said now, regarding the board members at the table with that icy stare that made everyone shrink under her gaze. Everyone except Caroline.

I pulled a seat out for her at the head of the table.

OLIVIA The clock struck nine when I looked up. The world behind the glass walls of my office, looking out to the business area of Silicon Valley, was dark.I pushed my seat back, standing. But then I froze, a frown crossing my face at the clacking keyboard sound just outside my office. My fingers pushed the summon button, before I continued towards the glass walls to stare down at the city. The clippy sound of heels hurried towards my office, and then the door pushed open after one knock.“I asked you to close for work hours ago, Emma.” I said, crossing my arms, eyes still pinned on the glass. “I had some things to clear off.”“Liar.” I finally turned around with an exhausted smile, and she smiled back shyly. “Go pack up. We’re leaving now.” I walked back to my desk, and began to gather my belongings. My eyes fell to my phone laying blank-screened on the desk, and my heart twisted at the silence from Colt.Zero calls or text. With a wince, I picked up the phone, sent him a quick

I did not have the time to think, or stop to consider how foolish it was to leave without telling anyone. If the Gyehna had managed to get past the dogs, he may be more powerful than I had given him credit for. The instructions were clear: tell no one, come alone. Of course, I knew how such a command would end, but there was no option. I had a shot at saving her at least. I twisted the throttle, weaving through traffic, unable to think about anything else besides Olivia’s terrified face.I shouldn’t have left her. If I hadn't been so pouty, and waited to talk things out with her, convinced her to come home with me, this wouldn’t have happened.By the time I saw the grey-colored sea, night had fallen. I got off the bike, but as I took my helmet off, I felt someone moving behind me. Before I could turn, they pushed a gun into my spine.“No glances, walk.” The female voice said, and I nodded, raising my hands in the air. They had me. I had no intention of causing any trouble till I

“Before you say it,” Axel said now, “doing anything at this moment would draw real attention to us. The gun's in some concrete, the warehouse raced to the ground. We should be fine.” “SHOULD.” Sean said bitingly from behind me. “This wouldn’t be a problem if you both had just listened and cremated the corpse.”“Well now, I wasn’t the one who lost his shit at the sight of his ex, and shot her boyfriend in the head.” Axel shrugged in that troublemaker way that was only natural to him.“You shit.” Sean charged forward, but I flew up, standing in front of him with wide eyes. What the fuck was going on here?“Since when do we fight among ourselves?” I looked between both men I had known since I was twenty. Sean cursed now, walked towards a couch and sank in, while Axel swiveled carefree on my chair, his eyes staring at the wall ahead.I suddenly felt like the world was crashing down on me. This was all my fault and things seemed to get even worse, the harder I tried to fix it. I sank

  • Biker-in-law's Death Kiss   A niece?

I stared at her for a couple seconds, my mind immediately frothing with appeasing statements and gestures. But I backed towards the door. Fuck it!I walked out of her office without another word, closing the door behind me. Perhaps we indeed needed air, and would talk things out in the evening. She’ll be fine with the dogs around, and I, on the other hand, have ignored the club for way too long. This was not my scene. These scratchy suits and false pretenses. Emma nodded in my direction as I walked past her desk, and I threw her an easy salute. “I thought you might need your bike.” Chris appeared beside me as soon as I arrived in the main lobby, and I smiled. I was beginning to like him as much as I’d liked Henry.“Thank you.” I stared outside the glass walls, picking out pressmen still hanging around. Vultures. Fucking Vultures. MR FLETCHER, ONE MOMENT They flew up like vultures taking flight at the detection of movement, scattering in every direction.HOW DO YOU PLAN TO FIX YO

The board did not bother to veil their murmurings anymore. They shared meaningful looks, making faces I feared might finally break my self-control. “I say we vote.” Leonardo Rossi spoke up for the first time.I stiffened. What? How could they want to vote on something that was so clear? Olivia was the biggest shareholder, and more business savvy than anyone, so why the hell was this up for debate? But before I could say a word, the others were already nodding in agreement. This couldn't be real. It felt like a bloody movie. Were they doing this because of the affair rumors? Or simply because she was a wife? Because there was no doubt about her competence, she literally saved this company and all their shares. When I glanced at Olivia, it hurt me to see how stiff she was, all ice with a neutral face, because I knew she felt completely different inside. This must be eating at her. I looked up then to put an end to this bloody farce, but felt her hand on my knee under the table.
