Chapter 6: Delivering Soup Every Day

Frederic Howard noticed she didn't refuse, and the corners of his mouth slightly lifted. He took her hand and led her up the stairs, not caring about whether the stairwell was clean or not. As they walked, he slowed down to match her pace.

Melissa Ernest felt a warmth in her heart. With her parents no longer around, it was comforting to have someone who cared for her like this.

As they climbed the stairs, Melissa Ernest was breathing a little heavily. Her body was naturally weak, and with Frederic Howard holding her hand, she felt a strange mix of emotions, making her a bit nervous.

On the surface, Frederic Howard appeared calm, his face not flushed, his heart not racing, and his breath steady. But inside, he was also a bit nervous, afraid that she might pull her hand away. There was an indescribable feeling in his heart.

"I'm here, thank you, Mr. Howard," Melissa Ernest said as she opened the door.

"You don't need to thank me every time. I still have your blood in my body. You saved my life, and I've never even thanked you, hmm?"

Frederic Howard looked at Melissa Ernest with a complex expression. For some reason, although they had just met, he disliked her being so formal with him.

Melissa Ernest nodded, "Mm."

Seeing the small woman before him, her head lowered and a bit afraid of him, he felt unusually irritable and wanted to reach out and pat her head.

As he thought this, his hand was already on her head, and he could feel her body stiffen instantly.

Though he showed no emotion, he was inwardly shocked. This was the second time his hand had acted on its own, just like in the cemetery. As soon as he thought it, his hand had already moved. He pretended to be adjusting her hair and then nonchalantly let his hand drop.

"Go in now! Get some rest, and call me if you need anything."

"Mm, goodbye, Mr. Howard!" Melissa Ernest said, waving at him a bit awkwardly.

Frederic Howard nodded slightly, "Mm."

As Melissa Ernest turned, the smile on her face vanished, and her head drooped, like a deflated balloon.

Frederic Howard, standing outside, couldn't help but smile. He watched until she closed the door and then turned to go downstairs.

Reaching the car, Evan Hicks opened the door for him. Frederic Howard's long legs stepped into the vehicle, and Evan Hicks returned to the driver's seat.

In the backseat, Frederic Howard's deep, magnetic voice sounded, "Check on why the Yun family went bankrupt, and the reasons for the deaths of Yun's parents. Also, look into that woman we just saw."

"Yes, sir."

A few minutes later, the Rolls-Royce pulled up slowly in front of the villa estate.

The gate opened, and Uncle, the butler, came out.

"Young Master is back."

"Mm." Frederic Howard responded and started to head upstairs. Suddenly, the image of the petite figure flashed through his mind, and he stopped. "Where's Aunt?"

"She's in the kitchen preparing dinner. If you need her, I can call her," Uncle replied respectfully.

"Mm." Frederic Howard nodded and sat down on the sofa.

The next day, Melissa Ernest was awakened by a knock on the door. She groggily got up to open it, "Who is it?"

As Melissa Ernest opened the door, the man outside quickly turned around, thinking that this was the first woman the Young Master had treated with such care. He wouldn't dare to look even if given a hundred chances.

Melissa Ernest looked down and blushed, noticing that the top button of her pajamas was undone. She quickly fixed it and asked, "Excuse me, who are you? What do you need?"

Hearing her voice, the man turned around and spoke respectfully,

"Miss Ernest, this is a nourishing soup specially prepared by our Young Master. My name is Andy, and I will come to deliver it to you every day at this time."

"Your Young Master is?" she asked, puzzled.

"Our Young Master is Frederic Howard, the CEO of Victory Group," the man replied respectfully.

Melissa Ernest remembered the business card Frederic Howard had given her and assumed it was the same person. She nodded, "Mm, please convey my thanks. I will be working every day, so I won't be home when you deliver. Thank him for his kindness, but there's no need to trouble him."

"Alright, then please rest, Miss Ernest. Goodbye!" The man bowed and turned to leave.

"Goodbye!" Melissa Ernest closed the door, carrying the thermos, and sat on the sofa, looking at it with a mix of emotions.
