Louisa:

I stepped out of the car and onto the pavement, taking a deep breath of the cool evening air. I wasn't sure what to expect. Why is she at the roof?

A sick thought crossed my mind– Melisa pushed someone off the roof and she's in big trouble.

Nah. That's crazy, right? But that's the kind of sick scenes my mind's conjuring.

"Hey." Ryan leaned over, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. "Should I wait out here?" he asked.

I nodded, smiling back at him. "Sure. Won't be long."

With that, I turned and walked towards the entrance of Dave's Bar. I pushed open the door and stepped inside, scanning the dimly lit room for Melisa. But I didn't see her anywhere.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Melisa's number. She answered on the first ring, her voice low and croaky. "Hey, Louisa. I'm glad you're here."

"Where are you?" I asked, looking around the bar again.
