Chapter 5

Looking at Carmen who looked pitiful, Daniel couldn't bring himself to hit Hilda and then he slowly placed his hand down.

Looking at Hilda, he was at a loss of words. "You why..."

Carmen looked at Hilda and said helplessly. "Sis, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you but you know Daniel and I really love each other. Why don't you just let it go."

Listening to what Carmen was saying Hilda snorted. "I've already blessed you so I don't care about him anymore. As you can see I just came back from town and I'm really tired I want to rest you can leave now."

"But sis, we came to check on you we were really worried."

"Enough Carmen. I don't want to see any of you."

Looking at Hilda in confusion Daniel asked. "Can't we just break up peacefully? Do you have to leave such a bad impression?"

Feeling a tinge of pain in her heart Hilda teared up. Looking at the man who she had loved for the past four years, she wasn't expecting him to say that.

Trying her best to hold back her tears she glared at him angrily. "Why don't you ask yourself what I did to you to deserve something as cruel as this? What did I do Daniel? You courted me back then and even said you would never turn your back on me. You vowed to love me Daniel! What happened? It hasn't even been long but what did you do? Did you ever think about the impression you would be leaving on me?"

As she roared at Daniel her tears fell. "F*ck off! I don't want to see either of you."

Opening the door to her apartment, she entered and slammed the door shut. When the door was closed, she leaned against the door and slide down on to the floor.

Carmen started pounding on the door after it was shut speaking gently. "Hilda!" Covering her mouth she also cried too. "How could you say that Hilda? You are my dearest sister."

Leaning on Daniel she kept on speaking gently. "Trust me! I would rather choose to hurt someone else than think about hurting you."

After a while, Daniel said cruelly. "I never thought you would be such an unreasonable person Hilda. You really disappoint me!"

Engulfed in silence, Hilda sat on the ground with her arms around her legs. Falling into a trance, she recalled that it was Daniel who helped her move when she was moving. He even promise not to turn his back on her and that they were going to get engaged when the time was right and then get married after. She never expected it to be a cruel joke.

Feeling like the day before had been a bad dream, she pinched her self over and over again with her tears streaming down her face as the pain was real. Everything was real. It really had happened.

Hilda looked up after a long while. In a daze, she got up from the floor. She had to be strong. She had to move on with her life regardless. It has already happened.

On the other side, Daniel and Carmen didn't look good after being chased out by Hilda. Looking at Daniel Carmen carefully voiced out. "What should we do now Daniel? Hilda probably hates us now. I told you we should have told her before getting engaged. Hilda has always been head strong since we were kids. She won't bow to anyone that easily. I want to be with you Daniel." Tugging pitifully on his sleeves Carmen cried like a little girl.

Daniel frowned and patted her back to console her. "Don't worry Carmen. I love you so I won't leave you even if Hilda disagrees. I promise you that she won't be able to separate us."

Carmen smiled after she heard Daniel's promise. She held his hands and tip toed to kiss him. "I love you too Daniel."

Daniel held her and returned the kiss. After a while, they parted reluctantly. As Carmen leaned on Daniel's chest, she smiled cruelly. Look Hilda, the man you love the most is now mine. Finally mine!

....

Hilda couldn't sleep well through out the night. Waking up she felt weak.

In the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror she looked at her face which was pale with bloodshot eyes. She didn't have a good sleep. She splashed some water on her face. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she teared up again.

Freshening up, she got dressed and applied a little bit of makeup to cover up a bloodshot eyes and her pale face and left for the grocery shop.

Since it was morning, she had to prepare for work but she decided against it since she just got back. Walking out of the house she kept giving herself some pep talks. "Hilda, don't worry you will be fine. He doesn't deserve you. Cheer up. Everything will be alright."

She was in a trance as she recalled all those times she went grocery shopping together with Daniel. Suddenly a car skidded to a halt.

Shocked, Hilda jumped back, stumbled and fell down to the ground. Although she wasn't hurt by the car, as she stumbled and fell to the ground she felt a sharp pain shoot from her ankle.

The driver of the car looked out at the woman on the ground and gulped nervously. Turning to look at the man in the backseat, he stammered. "S- Sir?"

The man frowned. Looking out indifferently he asked the man in the passenger seat to go and take a look. "Yes Sir." Nodding, Stanley got out and circled the car to the front to take a look.

Getting closer Stanley noticed that it was Hilda who had her eyes wide open looking scared. There was tear streaks on her face. "Are you alright Miss? Should I take you to the hospital?"

Still shocked, Hilda stared at him dumbfoundedly for a while before quietly standing up and brushed past him.

Stanley noticed how weird she was behaving and asked again. "Are you alright? Should I..."

" I'm fine." Interrupting him, Hilda starred at the black car which was all tinted and for some reason she felt scared. Hating the feeling, she frowned.

A moment later, she turned around and tried limping away. Stanley found her actions really strange and tried calling out to her again but before he could, he noticed his boss was trying to catch up to her.

Stanley dared not make any moves. He stood there and watched as his boss cupped her into his arms and carried her back into the car.

"What are you doing? Put me down I said I'm fine. Leave me alone." Shouting Hilda hit him on the back. "I'm fine."

Paying no heed to her, he placed her in the car. Looking at her who was red with rage, Nathan shook his head. "You are limping, you need to see a doctor. Don't worry I won't do anything to you."

"I said I'm fine and I don't need to see a doctor."

Looking at the petite lady in beside him, he ordered the driver to head to the hospital.

Fuming, Hilda looked out of the window. Looking at her petite body, Nathan smiled and tapped on his knees rhythmically.

Stanley was perplex. "But sir, the meet..." Feeling his boss's cold gaze, he dared not continue.
