Chapter 4

Author: twenty
Tiffany pressed her advantage, walking right up beside the police car.

She sobbed her heart out in front of the livestream camera.

"Since you're all bullying me like this, and I'm just one orphaned girl who can't fight all of you, then if I don't get justice today, I'll smash my head against this police car and die, to prove I'm telling the truth!"

As she said it, she lunged as if to slam her head into the car door, and two young men rushed to hold her back.

The officer in charge's face darkened, and he pulled a cold pair of handcuffs from his belt.

"Enough. Stop this."

The officer walked toward Ryan with the handcuffs.

"The witnesses, the evidence, the footage all point to you. You're a suspect in attempted rape and arson, so we have to bring you in for questioning. Let's go!"

The moment Ryan saw the handcuffs, all the strength left his body and he crumpled to the ground.

He looked at me in despair, the light in his eyes going out completely, as if he could already see the rest of his life ruined.

I took a deep breath, threw my arms wide, and planted myself firmly in front of the officer.

"Officer, I'm not obstructing your investigation, but I have to point out the flaw in that security footage you're holding!"

The whole scene fell silent, everyone watching to see what trick I was about to pull.

I turned and stared coldly at Tiffany.

"Tiffany, you said you fought for your life, that you clawed his hand and kicked him in the stomach, right?"

Tiffany stuck her chin out.

"That's right! I've still got his skin under my nails!"

I pointed at the screenshot of the footage on the tablet.

"Then explain to everyone why, when the man in this footage runs out, his white T-shirt is spotless, without a single sign of being grabbed or torn?"

Tiffany's expression shifted slightly.

Her eyes flickered, and she scrambled for an excuse.

"I was too scared, and the room was dark, I didn't kick his clothes right. I only managed to grab his arm and scratch it open!"

That was exactly the line I'd been waiting for.

I let out a cold laugh, walked over, firmly took both of Ryan's hands, and pushed his sleeves all the way up to his shoulders.

"Everyone, open your eyes and look carefully!"

I held them up for everyone to see, the livestream camera included.

Ryan's arms were smooth and clean, not even a faint white line from a fingernail, let alone any scratch that had drawn blood.

The voices around us dropped at once, and a few neighbors filming on their phones exchanged glances.

"There's... there's not a single mark on his arms."

Tiffany's eyes filled with panic, cold sweat beading on her forehead.

She forced herself to keep shouting.

"Then maybe I scratched his back! Either way the footage is ironclad proof, he looks exactly like that, and the clothes are the same too!"

Just as the officer hesitated over whether to take Ryan in first, I turned and pulled a metal USB drive from my pocket.

Staring straight at Tiffany's ashen face, I handed the drive to the officer and announced it one word at a time.

"Too bad for you. On our first day here, I was worried about break-ins."

"So I'd already installed a tiny camera inside the peephole of our front door."

  • Bitch Neighbor Framed My Son, I Sent Her to Prison After Rebirth   Chapter 10

Christmas Eve.Outside, snow was falling in great feathery flakes, and lights glowed warm in every home.I closed the flower shop early.Back home, a pot of beef stew was simmering in the kitchen, steam bubbling up from it.In the living room, Ryan and his fiancée were hanging up decorations while a lively holiday special played on the TV.I carried the dishes out of the kitchen."Wash your hands, dinner's ready!"The whole family gathered around the table and raised their glasses."Merry Christmas!"The clear ring of clinking glasses chased away every last shadow.I took a sip of wine and turned to look out the window.Snowflakes drifted down, blanketing every corner of the city.I thought of this same time in my previous life.I'd been in a freezing basement, gnawing on a hunk of stale bread, weeping silently over a photograph of my son. That bone-deep cold and despair felt like only yesterday. But now, everything was different. The wicked had gotten the punishment they deserved and

Ryan's background check and medical exam went smoothly. When the airline's management heard what we'd been through, they didn't hold it against him at all. If anything, they admired how he'd kept his composure under pressure.Six months later, Ryan officially put on his pilot's uniform. The sun was bright that day.He stood in front of our door, tall and straight."Mom, I did it."Looking at this bright, confident son in front of me, my eyes went damp.In my previous life, the sight of him in this uniform had only ever existed in my dreams. And now, all of it had become real.I stepped forward and straightened his tie for him."That's my boy. Go fly. Go see that wide-open sky."He nodded hard and turned toward the future that was his.I stood where I was, watching him walk away, and let out a long breath. The weight that had pressed on me across two lifetimes had finally lifted for good.Later, I heard some news about Tiffany. Her days in prison were far from easy. The beauty she'd onc

The tide of opinion online had turned completely. The police released an official statement. It laid out in detail the crimes Tiffany had committed with an accomplice: extortion, filing a false report, and arson. The instant it went public, the whole internet was in an uproar. The braindead fans who'd been showering Tiffany with gifts on her stream just yesterday felt like their intelligence had been mortally insulted. They flooded her account in a frenzy, cursing her out with every word in the book."Give the money back! You lying fraud! And give me back the tears you conned out of me!""So vicious, risking her own life for a payout and trying to drag someone else down with her.""Thank god they had that peephole camera, or that guy's whole life would've been ruined!"The people who'd piled on Ryan online now rushed to my account to leave apologies.I didn't reply to a single one. I just turned off the comments.Life goes on, and I didn't want any of that toxic mess touching our lives

Early the next morning.I took Ryan to the police station to give our statements. We'd just reached the hallway when we heard Tiffany's shrill shouting coming from the interrogation room."I didn't extort anyone! Vince made me do it!""He threatened me with a knife, said he'd kill me if I didn't go along with it! I'm a victim too!"Through the one-way glass, I watched her sob and carry on, her acting worthy of an award. The officer running the interrogation let out a cold laugh. He tossed a stack of printed chat logs down in front of her."A victim? Take a look at this!""This is data recovered from Vince's phone, and it lays out in black and white how you went to him, how you planned this whole honeytrap scam.""You spelled out every detail, how to tear your clothes, how to scratch yourself, how to work the crowd on your livestream.""Vince has already confessed to everything. You still want to argue?"Tiffany looked at the logs, and her face went white, her lips trembling. She knew s

Gerald's hand froze in midair, his face darkening at once.Feeling he'd lost face in front of the neighbors, he put on the airs of the head of the household."Vivian, what's with that attitude?""It's all sorted out now, so quit sulking. Get home and make dinner. I've got a business meeting with Mr. Warren tonight."He said it so righteously, as if he weren't the same man who'd just forced his own son to his knees a minute ago.Looking at that utterly hypocritical face, I felt my stomach churn. In my previous life, after our son died, he didn't shed a single tear. He took the settlement from our son's death and used it to keep a mistress.I worked three jobs to pay off the debts while he drove his fancy car and took his mistress on vacation to the coast. In this life, there was no way I'd let him off.I pulled a folded sheet of paper from my pocket and threw it in his face."Make dinner? Prison food would suit you better."The paper drifted to the floor, the words "Divorce Agreement" p

The officer took the drive. The tablet quickly connected to it.Every eye was locked on the screen.Ten twenty-five at night.A man in a baseball cap and a black mask walked up to Tiffany's door.He didn't knock. He simply opened it with a key.Less than two minutes later, the man came back out.He stood in the hallway, tugged the mask down as if he were hot, and fanned himself with his hand.A brutish, thick-jowled face with a knife scar down one cheek was exposed clear as day to the camera.Someone in the crowd gasped out loud."Isn't that Vince, the loan-shark thug from the back street behind the complex!""Yes, yes, that's him! I'd know him anywhere!"The video kept playing. The peephole camera not only had high-definition video, it recorded sound too.Tiffany's lowered voice came through the gap in the door."Did you get changed? It's that dumb kid's size."Vince's voice was thick with sleaze."All changed. This scheme of yours is vicious, you know that? Once we pull this off, how
