Bloom tries hard not to shiver at the woman’s harsh gaze.

The omega servants hold her hands before her, her eyes trained on the floor, while Rowan’s mother sits in front of her with her legs crossed over the other, staring Bloom down as if the omega is not worth her time.

“I’ve been told you are quite close to Sage; you even dared to badmouth my son in front of him. You have to be close.”

Bloom visibly shivers at the coldness of the words that leave the woman’s mouth; they pierce through her like ice. “I am just a servant.”

The woman snorts. “A servant who doesn’t know her place, but then again, that’s the same for all omegas recently, hasn’t it? You all worship Sage as your god. You think he is here to bring you out from some sort of… cage.” Her lips curl upward in a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes; it’s as devious and cold as her eyes. She continues. “And you believe him capable of it.”
