Every single time that she falls sick, her mother, or to be more precise, her stepmother is the one who always takes care of her. There was even a time when she exhausted herself while taking care of her one time . How could that be all fake?

Then it suddenly occurred to her, her father had been acting strangely lately. He kept calling her to have a meal with him, sometimes he'd ask her to visit him and spend a few days at the mansion. He showed her much more love than usual like he was going to lose her to the past few months and days. But she thought that it was because he misses her so much that he was acting strangely.

At the same time, her father had also been the one to arrange this wedding anniversary for her. He kept saying that he wanted her to have a memorable wedding anniversary for the past four years she had been married. So how could all this happen of he hadn't planned it or arranged it in the first place?

Even if she screamed at this rate, it was useless because no one would be able to hear her. The loud music on the first floor was already deafening enough for the guests and she was on the second floor. Her scream would simply be lost in the cheers and laughter from the crowds on the first, plus there was also a soundproof.

“Hahaha! Hahahaha!" Roseline suddenly broke out into a fit of laughter. The laughter was of despair and bitterness, tears gathering in her eyes. ‘So this is the truth? How pitiful of her! But, why?’ She thought.

“Cough! Cough!" Blood began to gush out of Tatiana’s mouth because of the poison, however, the taste of their betrayal was all that Roseline could taste in her mouth. Anger and hatred roared in her chest, she was in pain, extreme pain but she still refused to shed a tear in front of them. It would only please them more to see her crying and she wouldn't keep them satisfied.

“Why would my dad do this to me?! I don't believe you at all, Sophia! “ Though she muttered those words out, she believed it more than not after connecting the dots. However, she had to know the full truth and be one hundred percent sure.

The corner of Sophia's slightly curled up into a sly smile. “You really want to know the truth before you die? Don't worry sis, I'd gladly tell you cause it's the last gift I have for you before you die. You see, recently dad made a very bad investment and lost billions not millions and the company is also on the brink of bankruptcy. But we totally have nothing to worry about because of you, sis……” Sophia trailed off to see the expression on Roseline's face.

Roseline raised her head up. “What about me? I wasn't the one who asked him to make the investment."

“Tsk, tsk, sis, you should have gotten a hint by now. Anyways, we have nothing to worry because you have lots of money sister. You're practically a gold mine and dad doesn't care about you. What he truly cares about isn't you but your money. The marriage between your parents was just merely an ally of two powers…..” Sophia kept talking, even though she was standing a few distance away from Roseline it sounded extremely cold. Roseline couldn't comprehend what she was saying, despite the fact that she heard everything.

She had money? Where? What is the nonsense she's sprouting out? The pain and torture was preventing her from thinking and understanding all the nonsense Sophia was saying. Her drowsy eyes fell on the face of the man she had idolized all her life.

“Henry…… for once……have you ever loved me?” She asked, a tiny bit of her hoping to say that he did, even though he got tired of it later. It was okay by her.

Henry's face turns into a frown hearing Roseline's question. Even though she could vaguely see his figure, her ears were perfect and clear enough to hear his cold, cruel words.

“No."

A pleased and satisfied smile appeared on Sophia's face. She lifted her chin up, brimming with victorious pride. “You're just too naive, sister. Why would Henry love someone who is weak and useless like you? It's me that he loves, obviously. He has just been using you.”

Those words struck Roseline like lightning , her eyes open widely. She was totally confused and lost, unable to comprehend what she was hearing. What had she done wrong exactly?

She bit the bottom of her lips in order to stop herself from crying. The tears only gathered in her eyes, blurring her view. “All you've just said are lies. Henry loves me. If he didn't he wouldn't have married me, you're probably the one manipulating him.” Roseline didn't want to believe that all this was real. She wants to believe that this is just a dream.

Sophia smirked at Roseline wickedly before turning her attention to Henry. She gently stroked his chest flirtatiously and asked. “Henry, who did you love? Tell us, so that she can understand.”

Henry looked at Sophia with immense affection, he reached for her fine hand and held it up before planting a kiss on the back of her hand. “Of course, it's you that I love, Sophia. You're my favorite of all, my darling, my queen and I will fight for you.”

Each word he uttered was like a knife stabbing into her heart. “Then, why did you marry me? If you wanted to be with Sophia so badly, why did you have to waste my life being married to you?” Roseline asked, raising her voice a little bit.

Henry's once gentle and loving face turned cold and dark when he heard Roseline's question. “ Who do you think you are? O told you before that you disgust me. Did you actually think that I'd love an idiot like you? It's so easy to play and toy with you because you're completely a dimwit.”

Blood gushed out from Roseline's mouth again when she heard Henry. Yes, he made it clear the first time but hearing him say it again was heartbreaking. A word of evil stabbing her heart and tearing it into pieces. A cold chill went down her spine and through all her bones.

“Hahaha!" She cracked into another laughter, making Sophia raise her brow at her. Was something in all she had said? Or maybe she was too shocked by the news.

“Why are you laughing, sister? You see you don't have to blame us for being heartless because this is all your grandfather from your mother's side, your mother and our grandfather's fault. They put you in this mess.”

She gathered her strength to stand up and after a few attempts, she successfully stood up but lost her balance again. She quickly grabbed the railing of the bancoly to balance herself before she fell down again.

"I get the fact that you don't love me, Henry. However, Sophia…..” Roseline trailed off as she raised her head and stared at Sophia with her crimson red eyes. "Tell me exactly why you all are doing this?"

The hallway buzzed with the midday rush as students swarmed toward the cafeteria, chattering excitedly about everything from test scores to weekend plans. Rose adjusted her backpack, waiting just outside the classroom door with Kehlani, who was calmly rechecking her timetable, and Sandra, who was already grumbling about the cafeteria lines. "I swear if they run out of chicken nuggets again, I'm flipping someone's tray," Sandra muttered, folding her arms. "Let’s just hope the line isn’t too long today," Kehlani replied gently. Just then, they stepped fully out of the classroom and came to an abrupt halt. Standing right in front of them was Leo, casually leaning against the wall with his signature confident smirk. His usual entourage flanked him—Kaleb and Felix were laughing over something on a phone, Reeves was casually tossing a basketball between his hands, and Austin stood next to Leo, focused on a game on his own screen. The sight of the five seniors immediately drew attention,

Rose stepped onto campus, her steps even, her gaze ahead, but she couldn’t ignore the subtle tension prickling at the back of her neck. Whispers slithered through the school grounds, barely audible but insistent. Heads turned in her direction, eyes wide as if they'd seen a ghost. Some students even stopped walking just to stare at her, their conversations halting mid-sentence. Rose kept her expression neutral. She reached into her bag, pulling out her headphones and placing them over her ears. A low hum of instrumental jazz filled her ears, the soothing rhythm giving her a small sense of calm as she walked down the path toward her class building. She could ignore the stares. She could ignore the whispers. That part she had mastered long ago. But before she reached the main entrance, a sudden, high-pitched voice broke through the music in her headphones. “Rose!” She turned instinctively, eyebrows raising in surprise. Two familiar figures came barreling toward her from across the

The morning sun filtered gently through the car windows, casting soft golden light on the sleek black dashboard. Luthor glanced in the rearview mirror at the girl seated quietly beside him. Rose hadn’t said a word since they left the Anderson estate—her usually poised and serene demeanor had been subdued ever since they got into the car. She sat straight, arms folded loosely in her lap, her expression thoughtful as her gaze drifted out the window. Luthor tapped his fingers rhythmically on the steering wheel, the faint sound of pop music playing in the background barely filling the silence. “You’ve been awfully quiet this morning, little Rose,” Luthor finally said, shooting her a sideways glance. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re plotting world domination.” Rose turned to him with a small, amused smile, her expression still distant. “Nothing’s wrong, Brother Luthor.” Luther raised a brow, unconvinced. “You know, that’s exactly what people say when something’s definitely wron

Seeing that everyone was already ganging on her mother-in-law, Karen suddenly spoke. “My dear Rose, it's not like mother doesn't want you to return back to school, it's just that we are worried and I was the one who told mother to tell you this idea of homeschool. But it's okay if you don't want to be homeschooled, we were just being overly worried that you might feel uncomfortable since that is the same school your step sister attends. Although I initially thought we should transfer you to another school, I have to admit that Crystal lake academy is indeed one of the best schools here.” Karen explained. It wasn't until her explanation did everyone understand the intention behind the two women's idea. Rose blinked her eyes, she knew they were worried about something but she didn't know they would worry about her this much. They pay attention to her feelings, they didn’t want her to be reminded of what happened anytime she sees Sophia and that's why they thought homeschooling was the

Before Rose knew it, it was already the last day of the recovery leave Karen had asked the school to give her and she would have to return back to school tomorrow. That night at the dining table, the Anderson family and Rose were all gathered to eat as usual. Ever since Rose's arrival the family routine has changed as they all want to spend more time with her. However, just as the family were busy eating, Julian broke the silence as he looked at Rose. “Rose, I heard you will be going back to school tomorrow?" He asked. Rose simply nodded her head. “The one week recovery leave Aunt requested has ended so I should resume school." She told him. Anne couldn't help but suddenly look at her granddaughter with unease and worry written all over her face. “My dear, are you sure it's okay for you to return back to school?” She asked. As if knowing what Anne was thinking, Rose dropped her spoon before turning to look at Anne with a smile. “I know that you're worried about me, grandma,

The car hummed softly as it cut through the city’s neon glow. Rose’s fingers flew across her phone screen, her brow furrowed in concentration, while Leo watched her with a smirk tugging at his lips. He leaned in, his voice a playful whisper. “You know,”he mused, “If big brother ever saw you play like you did back there, he’d probably kidnap you for his company. You’d be chained to a gaming chair, forced to code until your fingers fell off.”* Rose’s eyes flicked up, unimpressed. “You mean Brother Nicholas?” Leo’s grin suddenly disappeared when he heard Rose. “Wait—since when do you call him ‘brother’? What am I, chopped liver?” He tilted his head, feigning hurt. “None of your business.”* She turned back to her phone, her tone ice-cold. “No, I refuse this fate. Why don’t I get the same treatment? Where is my adorable nickname?” Leo shook his head in refusal. “Then you get ‘annoyance’ and ‘regret.’ Take your pick.” Leo clutched his chest dramatically. *“How can you wound me
