Yeneffer

His eyes were made of red orbs, a contrast to the grey look I remember. His brows were deep and full, spreading across and emitting a dangerous glare. His face was the most beautiful yet most poisonous I had ever beheld. With the size of his body included, the muscles and the veins, I knew this was no longer the scared little boy I used to protect.

Eight years ago, the Sunfyres attacked the Havenmoon pack. They destroyed everything, everyone. When my father and other bluewinters got there to help them, it was all over. It was too late. The Sunfyres left no survivors, it was either death or abduction.

Yet there was one boy who had survived. Ten years of age, he had been able to hide himself from the Sunfyres and survive the bloodshed. The bluewinters found him among the pigs where he hid. Father took him home and decided to raise him as his son. We became best friends. I fell in love with him. Then after many months, one day he disappeared.

"Vermino..." I called his name again, not believing that this was real. My family took him in when he lost his parents many years ago. We treated him like family. How could he be a member of the Sunfyre pack? How could he hunt my people down, killing us like animals?

"I see you still remember my name." He muttered, taking slow steps towards me. I would have retreated, but a giant tree stood behind me. I had nowhere to go as he flickered those fingers through my hair.

"You used to have black hair. It's now mostly white. And you used to smell like rose flowers."

I felt him inhale my scent, his fingers gently pushing my hair to the back of my ear. For some reason, my body shivered in fright. There was something about him, something that stood for dominance. He noticed my shaking hands.

"You used to be fearless. What have you become?" He shook his head, showing disappointment.

What have I become? I should be the one asking him that? What happened to the sweet innocent boy with a baby face who played with me in the flower gardens? The boy who stole the little fish father caught just to return her back to the sea, "to meet her family". The boy with the good heart. What happened to him?

"Please Vermino, let me go." I pleaded, hoping to find some pity in him. Afterall we used to be best friends. "My sister needs me. She can't be out there on her own."

He used to listen to me all the time. He would still listen to me now, right? At least this once.

In a flash, I felt my back tighten against the rough bark of the giant almond tree. Vermin's huge hands squeezed hard around my neck, leaving me to gasp for breathe.

"I belong to the great Sunfyre pack, the only true pack of werewolves. And you are my prisoner. I will take you back to father and you shall serve as one of our slaves, just like all weak girls like you." His eyes glowed violently as his voice hardened.

Footsteps came from somewhere and with my eyes barely open, I could see the sign of other people's presence.

"Master, the alpha wants you back. He has sent out men to find you. We have exterminated the members of the Bluewinter Pack, including their alpha. Our mission is complete."

From what I could see, there were five other people with us. But with Vermin's hand still tight around my neck, I couldn't observe their faces.

"Exterminated, you say." He laughed. "But what about this one standing here?"

Silence was the response. None of them dared to talk back at him.

"What about Adrian Bianco?"

When he mentioned my father's name, my eyes forced open. I stared at the messenger despite the pain I felt, hoping he wouldn't say what I feared.

"Dead, master. Killed by the alpha himself."

I felt the grip on my neck loosen, a smile was in Vermin's eyes while tears came falling from mine. Every energy left in me vanished as I fell on my knees.

"Good. I guess our work here is done truly." Vermin commended the messenger, he was really happy to learn of my father's death. Why? Why did he hate my family so much after everything we did for him?

"Take her and bind her. We are going back home." He commanded. "Also, there is one more who ran down that hill. Find her, capture her and bring her back. We need more slaves for the Slave Island... And find me some clothes."

"Yes master."

With hard kicks to my stomach and painful pulls of my hair, I was forced off my knees by his servants.

Before they took me away, I took one last stare at Vermin. Our eyes met one more time. And this time, I no longer felt fear for him neither did I recognise him as an old friend. He was now enemy, a bitter foe and an evil man.

"You will regret this, Vermino." I promised. "I will have my revenge".

"Get moving, bitch!" I was kicked by the punk who was in charge of taking me away.

My hands now tied with heavy chains, I was pushed and kicked back and forth along the bushy path, even struck with chains till we reached a large, truck like machinery waiting for us.

There I saw other girls whom I knew from the pack. They had been captured too. They all looked beaten and battered. There were no boys. I searched for Diana, begging the moon goddess that my sister would not be here. She wasn't.

We were all loaded into the machinery, chains around our hands and feet. The machine lifted slowly from the ground into the sky. As the huge door closed, I took a last look at the remains of my pack home. The mountains, the forests, the village. All in smoke. Father's body must be out there somewhere.

"Goodbye..." I whispered.

For a few minutes, the flying truck soared the sky. From where I sat, I could feel the speed we flew at. Then it came flying down again. The moment it touched the ground, we could all feel the difference in atmosphere instantly.

We looked around at each other, certain that we were now a long way from home. I could see immense fear printed on the face of every girl.

The huge door opened as slowly as it had closed. Behind it was an assembly of young women in a straight line, waiting. In front of them was a much older woman, looking a little above her forties.

"Hello, girls." She greeted. "Welcome to the Slave Island!"

Vermin"I told you to keep an eye on her!" I said to Darius as soon as the door closed. If he had done his job better, my girlfriend would not be out in the middle of the night right now, trying to catch Yennefer Bianco."We did." Darius defended himself. "My boys noticed some strange movements at the slave quarters. I came to tell you as fast as I could, but Sheara had already found out about it somehow. She hijacked the information. And you did not make things easy too, making out with Lysandra right at this crucial moment."I ignored the little jab of words from Darius. I knew I needed to somehow someway stop Lysandra as soon as possible. I had a strong feeling that if she was able to capture Yeneffer, it was only a matter of time before she would find out her real identity. That must not happen."What else did your boys say?""The movements were towards the west." Darius said, his eyes said the rest."They are going to the forbidden ship." I realized."No one has taken that ship i

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   Malcolm Wolfsbane

As much as I was shocked by Eliora's sudden betrayal, I was even more suprised at the identity of the man before me. Malcolm Wolfsbane. He was the first born son of Alpha Denver, he was a notorious name among the tongues of the warriors of my pack. His ruthlessness, his evil heartedness, his merciless nature. They say he was the true heir to the Sunfyre alpha in blood and heart. The true Alpha. I remembered the red eyes which watched me from the darkness. That was the same pair of red eyes glaring at me now. They belonged to only one person all along - Him. He had watched me for so long. He had set Eliora after me, at least that was the only explanation for this turn around."You..." I could not believe Eliora. "You traitor..."If she had been working for Malcolm all along, then what about Lily? Maybe Lily had not betrayed us afterall. Maybe it was all part of Eliora's sly plan. Maybe something had happen to Lily... Poor Lily! What had they done to her? Why would Eliora even betray me

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   The Escape

The night had come. In the middle of the darkness, Eliora woke me. "It is time to leave," She said. Of course it was time. The time I had awaited all along. One more night and the full moon would be here. Tonight was my last chance to escape."Quick." She grabbed a few things. The paper which Lily found earlier glowed under the light of the dim lamp, held tightly by Eliora. "We have to go quietly."The key was with me. I held it close. We were going to really escape. The three of us. "Where is Lily?" I checked around."Maybe stuck in the dreamworld because she is too scared to wake up." Eliora rather focused on the things she needed. I bent over to Lily's bed."Come on, Lily. It is time to go." When I reached for her under the thick blanket made of animal skin, her body pressed deep like soft feathers. In an instant, I threw away the blanket. There was no Lily, just a line of pillows."She is gone!" I could not believe my eyes. Maybe the night was playing tricks on me. Maybe it was

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   Day Before The Escape

"Did I not ask you to leave?" Vermin stood close to the giant wardrobe. Slowly, I opened the door, slightly then widely. I had heard everything that they said. Vermin used to have feelings for me? But now he was desperate to get rid of me? That didn't make sense. Now that I thought about it, I realized that he had kept my identity secret for a reason. Maybe he still had feelings afterall and he didn't want me to get hurt."You have to stop all these games, Yeneffer. I will not be there to save you another time." He said, edging closer. "I have kept your identity a secret long enough. There is nothing I can do if you keep announcing yourself with your stupid plans. I don't know what you are planning, but I know it will not work", he said.I believed it more when he said that. He was surely the one who was watching me during the night. The wolf with the red eyes.If my plans would not work, then why would he not help? I walked towards him. "You have to let me go, Vermino. I promise..."

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   Feelings of a Young Alpha

Several thoughts had gone through my mind. It felt like an eternity for those doors to open. I recalled the stories I had heard about Lysandra's father, Derek Marble the blood beta. He was a vicious beast, just as evil as his alpha. He who would eliminate anything and anyone that stood in the way of his ambitions. According to the stories, he once decapacitated his own brother a long time ago so as to be the next beta of the Sunfyre pack. According to the stories, Derek kept his brother alive as a mercy but took away his legs to show the world how weak he was. Derek was no normal werewolf, and he was not one to mess with, especially by an enemy's daughter like me."Let me go!" I tried my best to pull away from Vermin, but he would not budge. Once again, his strength was too much to overcome. "Stay still, Yeneffer. You want to get revenge on Lysandra, don't you? For everything she has done to you? What better way to do that than to make her think her boyfriend has cheated on her? You

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   Let's Get The Beta Angry

The door opened. She hurried in, looking beaten and anxious. Looking for something, she ignored the maid who was bent over, cleaning her room. I watched silently as she paraded."It must be here somewhere." She said. When she had walked over to the huge shelf of valuables on the opposite end of the room, I started to find my way out, making sure that my face was never in her direction. With the cleaning basket and the water mop, I guarded my identity. The violet cat stared at me in suspicion. When I made it to the door, Lysandra called."Hey you! Stop right there!"I could not turn around. Frozen still, eyes against the open door, I heard her steps come from behind."You are the one who is cleaning this room, aren't you? Have you seen my necklace?""No... I haven't." I tried to hide the part of my voice which suggested familiarity. She had stopped paying me much attention again, the search being so important to her. Maybe this was my chance to walk away."Where are you going? You hav

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   Stealing the Key

YenefferWhen morning came, Eliora was the first to awaken. She came to me and stroke me, not roughly yet not gently."Get up, we have to go now if we want to get it."As I woke up to her call, somebody else was waking up as well."Are you guys just really getting along or am I still in a deep sleep?" Lily yawned, stretching her hands and feet. "And what is this thing you want to go get?"Eliora ignored her, she returned to her place to get dressed. In silence, I dressed up. I was still conflicted within myself. If we succeeded and stole the key on this day, then would I really leave Lily behind on this island?"Since you obviously don't want to tell me, is there any way that I can help?" With her smily face, Lily stood before me. My heart burned with discomfort."Stay here," I told her. "We are going to do something dangerous. If it doesn't work out, then you have to be safe from the consequences."The smile on her face was covered with fear. Lily knew what danger meant, she could pr

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   A Prophecy

VerminDarius and I took the path that led to the old abandoned flying truck. It was an old variant of this technology created by humans. This particular machinery was no longer in use, but in the presence of great trouble comes great innovation. In Lysandra's room, I found the key dangling beneath her hall of clothings. She was out of the room, looking for my friend Darius. By the time Darius came to us, I was ready to leave and the key was in my possession."I will miss you, Vermin." She leaned and kissed, clinging. She did not want to let go. She did not want to leave me. "Can't you just stay? My father likes you anyway. He won't tell on you."I smiled. It was not the friendship of Derek Marble that I doubted but his schemes. Derek knew no friends nor foes, he only knew one thing - Loyalty. And my father rewarded loyalty."Don't worry, babe. Soon you will see me again. I don't plan to go too far."Of course I had no plans to go far. I still had thoughts that Adrian Bianco would com

  • Born Enemies, Fated Mates   The Beta's Visit

VerminThe maid came in with the tray of foodies, the smell of heaven clouded the room. Yet to me it was only something more satiable to the watching eyes than to a waiting stomach. She wore a piece of clothing which only covered the upper half of her body, hovering just beneath her full breasts and leaving her tiny waist to the marvel of his sight. Her skirt only reached a quarter to the length of her thighs, and the rest of her skin glittered for a shower of attention. None of this was able to draw my attention. I could only think of one thing - Yeneffer, and her father Adrian Bianco which I was meant to arrest."What are you thinking about?" I felt her warm touch on my chest. Everyone knew Lysandra to be a vicious and dangerous lady but when it came to me, she became as gentle as a dove and as caring as a goddess. "Don't you like the food? Or is it the maid?" She stared at the poor girl, half dressed and half naked to make me happy, acting on Lysandra's orders. "I can have her remo
