He's gone wild

**Emily’s POV**

I jolted awake when a loud noise from outside my window echoed into my room.

My eyes snapped open and I wrapped my robe around myself before stumbling outside to find out what it was that was causing the raucous.

“Emily, go inside!” I heard someone’s deep voice order but I was so blinded by curiosity that I ignored the voice and continued my stride towards a spot in the field where a lot of people were gathered.

As soon as I got to the crowded spot, my breath hitched in my throat and a foul odor attacked my nostrils.

On normal days, I would’ve turned away, and been repelled by the smell. But this one called me, drew me in. I pushed through the crowd until I arrived at the front where I froze in my tracks.

On the floor, in the middle of the curious crowd laid Mary, or whatever was left of her. Her face and body were burnt beyond recognition, and one of her legs was missing, probably amputated.

“What happened?” I whispered in tears, crouching beside her as I cradled her
