CHAPTER 4-----WELL, THEY SURVIVED

RAMONA'S POV

Contrary to what everyone thought, I didn't abort the pregnancy. After I ran back into the room that day, Aunt Farah marched into the room and forced the truth. At first she was startled and a bit vexed that I lied to her but she later calmed down. Together, we all went through the nine months and then I got my precious gifts.

Speaking of my gifts, where are they? It's been 5 years now since then. I now have a boyfriend and 2 kids.

"Mom!" Maha and Aiden yelled as they ran into my arms.

"Naughty children!" I greeted my tiny twins. I had come to pick them up from school since I was free from work today. Maha stretched her puny arms up for me to pick her up. I chuckled as I grabbed her and steadied her on my hip. I grabbed Aiden's hand as we walked to the car.

"How was school?" I asked them. Aiden kept quiet as he kept walking. He was the quiet one out of the two.

"Mummy, school was wonderful. We did a lot of things today." Maha replied as she went on to give me an in depth detail of their day. I smiled as I tucked them into their car seat.

I'm sure Maha got her talkativeness from me but Aiden, hmphh, I'm sure he got it from his father. When it came to physical appearance, it was the other way around. Aiden looked a lot like me while Maha looked like her dad—I think.

"Really? The teacher said that?" I asked in an incredulous tone. Maha kept chatting me about what happened and I replied her while Aiden stared and listened in on our conversation.

"That's not what happened, Maha. Derek obviously deserved it." Aiden interjected. I smiled, knowing what was coming.

"He did not!" Maha scowled. "You're only saying it cause you don't like him."

"And you're only saying that because you think he's cute and have this huge crush on him." Aiden retorted, frowning at his sister.

"You are so—what did the teacher say?" Maha said then stopped.

"Infuriating." Aiden offered.

"Yes. Infuating. You are so Infuating." Maha said. I let out a laugh at her pronunciation. We drove into the garage of the house and got out of the car. Aiden and Maha were still arguing when I caught sight of someone standing at the door.

"Why are my little pumpkins fighting?" Jules asked them. Maha ran up to her and hugged her legs as she reported,

"Aiden is Infuating."

Jules raised a brow as she turned to a chuckling me. I shrugged my shoulders as I pushed the door open. "Ohkay? Aiden?" She said, turning to Aiden.

"She's sad that her crush got punished. And she means infuriating." Aiden said, going up the stairs.

"Oh." Jules said, looking stunned. She placed Maha on the floor as she stared at me.

"Maha, baby, go freshen up." I said, laughing.

"Your kids are something else. And Aiden scares me." Jules pouted when Maha had left. She sat on a chair.

"They scare me too, and I'm their mother! And Aiden must've inherited his father's traits." I said, cringing slightly.

"His father's traits, huh? Maybe he inherited how to get a woman pregnant with one fuck too, right?" Jules asked. Immediately she let the words slip out of her mouth, I threw a pillow at her.

"You really are a minx." I muttered as I glared at her. Jules laughed and came to wrap her arms around me.

"I love you too." She chuckled. "Where's Farah?"

"She went on a road trip with John." I answered.

"No, you're wrong. The teacher shouldn't have said that."

"Oh please, arguing with you is pointless. You're being biased." Jules and I glanced at each other.

"Your son is on fire. We have to find his father." Jules said, smiling.

"I know. Not the finding his dad. That was a long time ago."

"You were the one who left, Mona. Don't you think he should know about his kids?" Jules tried to reason. I shushed her as I listened to the battle between Aiden and Maha. I did not want to talk about their father. I might've been the one to leave but he didn't try to look for me.

Aiden and Maha came downstairs and continued their herbal onslaught on each other.

"Alright, it's enough. It's cute and all watching you both argue over a dumb boy but it's also annoying. Quiet!" I said, glancing at Aiden. At times like this, he was the mature one and would probably not reply to Maha. I sighed when he left and walked to the kitchen. Maha was looking at me as if I had just said something wrong. So was Jules.

"What?" I asked, staring at them both.

"You just called Maha's crush dumb." Aiden said, passing by.

"Really? Is that it?" I scoffed. "And you're indulging her, Jules?"

"Of course. I'll always indulge my Maha." she said, grabbing Maha. Aiden and I rolled our eyes and lay back on the couch. We glanced at each other then at Maha and Jules.

"Sometimes I wonder if aunt Jules is as old as you say she is." Aiden said.

"I wonder so too, Aiden. I wonder so too." I replied ten squeezed my son's hand.

"Jules, you're staying over right?" I asked. "This storm is too heavy for you to go anywhere." I said, looking out the windows.

"I am. They didn't include it in the weather forecast though." Jules complained.

"You still enjoy staying at my place though." I said. "And we enjoy having you here."

"Speak for yourself." Aiden muttered. Jules and I rolled our eyes at him.

"Are you sure your son is five?" Jules asked.

"Shut the fuck up." I said, scowling.

"The kid scares me."

"Well, he scares me too. " I shivered.

"His fath—" Jules began but was interrupted by a knock from the door.

"Who could that be?" I wondered aloud.

"Farah and John?" Jules offered.

"It can't be. They won't be back until tomorrow." I said as I walked to the door. The knocks had gotten louder and more urgent. I said a silent prayer then pulled the door open.

There stood a man with a bloodied shirt wrapped around his tummy and he was drenched in the rain. Looking at him, my head throbbed.
