I realized I was still standing, which meant the bullet had missed everything important.

Sal and Sofia hit the ground hard, and the gun slid across the floor. Marcus rushed to pick it up while Dante rushed over to me.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" he asked. His hands were all over me, checking for injuries.

"I'm fine. It just grazed my leg." But even as I said it, I could feel the pain getting worse.

Sal was trying to get up, but Sofia was still on top of him, using the little strength she had left to keep him down.

"Get off me!" he shouted as he tried to throw her off.

Marcus had the gun and now he was pointing it straight at Sal's head. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't blow your brains out right now."

"Because killing him won't bring back the people he has hurt," Agent Harrison said. He was already on his phone, calling for backup.
