RONAN'S POV

The temple was really cold tonight. I could see my breath when I walked in. Like little puffs of smoke.

Nobody else was there. Just me and all the old stones and stuff.

I wasn't supposed to be here this late but I couldn't sleep. My brain wouldn't stop thinking about Elara. About how sad she looked when Kael walked away. About everything that happened today.

My shoes made loud sounds on the floor. Echo. Echo. Echo. Like the temple was saying something back to me.

I saw this door I never went through before. It was behind the big stone table where they do ceremonies. The door was open a tiny bit. Maybe someone forgot to close it all the way.

I pushed it and it made a really loud creak sound.

Inside was super dusty. It made my nose tickle. There were lots of shelves with old books and papers rolled up. Some looked so old they might break if you touched them.
