ELARA'S POV

Marcelline stood in the hallway, her eyes flicking back and forth between me and Ronan like a hawk hunting its prey. I caught the sharp glint in her gaze- possessive, anger, calculated.

Ronan shifted, his dark eyes settled on her with an unreadable expression. An expression I could quite fathom, but it definitely wasn't pleasant.

"Ronan," Marcelline breathed, forcing a smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. "I've been looking for you, what are you doing here?"

"Went for a walk," He replied, his voice low and calm. He wrapped one hand around her wrist, "Let's go."

I watched as they turned and walked away, side by side, their steps in sync. A sudden ache bloomed in the pit of my stomach. For a fleeting moment, I wondered what I really was to him.

The next morning, I woke up feeling drained, the kind of exhaustion that clung to your bones. Pushing myself out of the bed, I headed outside the room, for a walk in the morning air.
