Elena’s POV

Horace and I walked into my office after he had basically forced himself on me, declaring that he was going to be doing his work in my office for the next few days.

Even though I tried to stop him, he wasn’t having it, so I just let him be. After all, I couldn’t see that I wasn’t enjoying their attention of having my husband around me.

The thoughts made me giggle to myself as I turned the key on my lock to my office.

As soon as we got in, the first thing my mind registered was a strange item lying on my almost empty desk.

An envelope.

I stopped in the middle of the office, squinting my brows as I tried to think where it would come from.

“What is it?” he asked behind me.

“It’s that envelope over there, I don’t remember living anything like it.”

He walked forward, picking it up and assessing it as if checking for any danger it may carry.

When he was certain, there was no danger attached to it, he turned back to me.

“Maybe one of the nurses left it for you. Perhaps, a messag

Elena’s POVI made my way early to the hospital that day as I had an important operation to handle. At this point, the feeling of shame and guilt that had been plaguing me because of all the rumors had disappeared.I didn’t care to explain to anyone or try to make them understand anything because all that was important was that the people around me knew the truth. And my break from performing surgeries?—Ended it a few days earlier. I was done with not doing what I loved because a group of people wouldn’t let me rest.I had to let them out of my mind so I could put my energy into doing everything that concerned me.I got into my office, did all I had to do that morning, before making my way towards the operating room. As soon as I walked into it, I could immediately sense that there was something wrong. It wasn’t the big dramatic, kind of wrong. No.It was a quiet kind. The one that made you feel something even though you weren’t sure. The one that, if you weren’t aware enough, you co

Elena’s POVI sat on the bed waiting for him. That day of all these, he was running unusually late.It was after almost an hour of this unusual lateness that he finally made his way.The moment I walked into the room, I saw it in his eyes. He noticed it immediately; he knew something was wrong. He always did anyway.“Elena, what happened?” he asked immediately, not even removing his coat or dropping his bag yet.I took a deep breath, hesitating. At that moment, I was now contemplating whether or not I should tell him.But ultimately, I decided to. After all, it wasn’t something I could hide from him. The eldest coming to the White House was a big deal, even if I didn’t mention it; another person in the pack would.“The elders came here today,” I said finally. He froze, eyes questioning.“They did? For what? What was the reason for coming here?” he asked, but from his tone, I could already tell he had suspicions about his questions.Purple quote, they came to question me… question me a

Elena’s POV“So what do you have to say about this, Luna?”“About what?” I replied, still unsure of how to handle the mess before me.“About the whispers, that you intend to remove the Alpha’s first son from his rightful place in favor of your unborn child.”There, there, it was. The words I didn’t want to revisit. They landed heavily in my ears.Instinctively, I rubbed my palms together.“Well, if I say I haven’t heard them, then that would make me a liar. But…” I chuckled dryly. “… just because those words are floating around doesn’t mean they’re the truth.”“We know that. And we’re not trying to say we believe them, but we must still do our work to make sure that the young sir is safe in this palace.”I look back in sheet irritation. What is that supposed to mean? Of course, he’s safe in the palace.”“We know—.”“No, let me finish. What you just said is absurd. I love that boy and I will never, even in my wildest dreams hurt him. He is my son in every way that matters, every way

  • Bound by His Mark, Freed by His Betrayal   Chapter 213

Elena’s POVThe day was still young, and it hadn’t been long since Horace went to work. Ethan had also made his way to school, something we literally had to beg him to do, as he just wanted to spend the day with me. I smiled, realizing that maybe I should have let him remain home with me. After all, I decided to take the day off so that the stress doesn’t get to me. Having Ethan around, though, might have been a bit stressful, would have still been wholesome. His little laughs would have filled the colorful room, adding a spice to it. I smiled. And by colorful, I meant my paint room. A room Horace had diligently put together for me after I told him I wanted to start painting as a pastime. In fact, he was so happy doing it, one would think he would be getting a fee from it. I smiled just thinking back on it while my brush continued to do its work, painting. It wasn’t anything special. After all, it wasn't like I was a professional painter. In fact, I was so bad that Horace would

Vivienne’s POVThe morning after the night was no different from another one…for me at least. I sat across from him at one of the small outdoor breakfast tables, and he wouldn’t even look at me. However, he was busy with Meiling and playing with her and repeatedly addressing her as his mother.I was beyond sad, but I decided to chug it down and try again.“Ethan, did you finally find sleep last night?”He turned his attention to me, no anger on his face, and no special smile as he had for her. Just a polite expression.“Yes, Aunty. I slept well, all things to Mama and Papa.”I took a quick glance towards the woman beside him, watching as her laughter drifted towards the Alpha. The smug smile on her face was very apparent. She knew exactly what she was doing.“Oh, that’s very good. I’m happy you didn’t get any more nightmares.”In a bid to stop the silly wide grins on their faces, I decided to bring up another topic.“So, Ethan, does he usually have nightmares like that? I mean, he s
