Camilla didn’t sleep.

She laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Adrian’s voice replayed in her mind, continuously.

$20 million dollars. And your aunt’s hospital bills, paid in full.

Her stomach twisted. She wanted to hate him. She wanted to laugh at his arrogance. But every time Roseline’s face popped in her memory, her anger reduced.

Early that morning, she dragged herself out of bed. Anya was already in the kitchen, sipping coffee, her hair messy.

“You look like death,” Anya said gently.

“I couldn't get any sleep, last night.” Camilla sat on a chair.

Anya slid a mug toward her. “Work stress?”

Camilla hesitated. She couldn’t say it. She couldn’t even imagine explaining to Anya that her new boss had offered marriage like it was a job promotion.

“Something like that,” she whispered.

Before Anya could talk again, Roseline entered into the kitchen, her shawl wrapped tight. She smiled faintly, but Camilla noticed the way her hands trembled as she reached for the kettle.

“Morning, my darlings.”

“Sit down, Aunt Rose, I will get it,” Camilla said quickly, standing up.

“I’m fine.” Roseline tried to wave her off, but her hand slipped against the counter and she almost fell.

“Aunt Rose!” Camilla caught her just as her knees buckled.

Anya gasped. “Oh my God”

“Call the ambulance now!” Camilla shouted, her voice breaking. She held Roseline against her chest, paniking . “Stay with me. Please, stay with me!”

Roseline’s eyes fluttered, her breath shallow. “I’m sorry,” she whispered.

“No, don’t say that.” Tears spilled down Camilla’s cheeks. “You will be okay. You have to be okay.”

The wail of sirens came minutes later, but it felt like hours.

The hospital smelled of antiseptic and fear. Camilla sat in the waiting area, hands twisted together so tightly her knuckles ached. Anya sat beside her, pale and trembling.

A doctor finally approached, clipboard in hand.

“Miss Hart?”

Camilla jumped to her feet. “Yes, how is she?”

The doctor’s eyes softened. “She’s stable for now. But her condition is worsening. Without immediate, consistent treatment, her chances…” He paused. “They’re not good.”

Camilla’s throat closed. “Treatment costs?”

The doctor sighed. “It’s expensive. The medication alone is thousands each month, not including hospital stays. I’m sorry.”

Thousands.

Her chest tightened. She could barely afford their house rent.

Anya touched her arm. “We will figure it out. Somehow.”

But Camilla barely heard her. Adrian’s voice echoed again.

Your aunt’s hospital bills, paid in full.

Her legs went weak. She sank back into the chair, covering her face with her hands and cried more.

---

Hours later, after Roseline had been moved into a private room, Camilla sat by her bedside. The soft beeping of machines filled the silence. Roseline stirred, her eyes fluttering open.

“Camilla,” she whispered.

Camilla took her hand. “I’m here.”

“You look tired,” Roseline said faintly. “Don’t worry yourself out because of me.”

Camilla shook her head, tears pricking her eyes. “You’re all I have. I’d do anything for you.”

Roseline smiled weakly. “You have always had such a strong heart. Promise me you won’t let this world break it.”

Camilla swallowed hard. “I promise.”

But deep down, she felt that promise cshe made, racking.

---

By the time she left the hospital, night had fallen. Rain slicked the streets, soaking her hair, her clothes, her skin. She walked blindly, her chest tight, her head spinning.

Before she realized it, she stood in front of the Harrington Tower.

The tall glass building glowed against the dark sky.

Her feet moved without thought. The receptionist looked startled when she walked in, drenched and trembling.

“Miss Hart!,you are here?”

“Is Mr Harrington still in his office?” Camilla’s voice was raw.

The woman hesitated, then slowly picked up the phone. Moments later, the elevator doors slid open.

Adrian Harrington stood inside. His tie was loose, his jacket gone, but his presence was just as sharp. His eyes scanned her soaked clothes, her pale face, and something flickered there, something almost human before his expression hardened again.

“Follow me.”

---

His office was quiet, the city lights shone behind him through the tall windows. Camilla stood dripping water on the polished floor, her hands trembling.

Adrian closed the door and turned to her. “You shouldn’t be here this late.”

Camilla’s voice shook. “You knew, didn’t you? About my aunt. That’s why you offered me that… contract.”

Adrian didn’t deny it. “Yes.”

Her breath hitched. “You used her against me.”

“I gave you a choice.” His tone was calm, too calm.

Camilla’s tears burned. “A choice? It’s blackmail.”

“It’s survival,” Adrian said sharply. He stepped closer, his gaze on her. “I don’t play games, Camilla. I need a wife, you need money. It’s clean. Simple.”

“Nothing about this is simple!” she cried. “You’re asking me to sell my life to you.”

“No,” Adrian corrected softly. “I’m asking you to sign a deal.”

Her voice cracked. “And if I say no?”

Adrian’s jaw tightened. “Then you walk away. But your aunt won’t get the treatment she needs. You will watch her fade, piece by piece, knowing you had a way to save her.”

The words sliced through her. She staggered back, shaking her head. “You’re cruel.”

His eyes didn’t flinch. “I’m being honest with you.”

Camilla’s tears spilled over. “I hate you.”

For the first time, something flickered in his gaze like pain or maybe, anger, but it vanished quickly.

“You will sign,” Adrian said, almost like a certainty.

Camilla turned , gripping the doorknob with trembling fingers. “Don’t be too sure, that I would sign such deal with you.”

She opened the door and walked away, her sobs echoing in the hallway.

But deep inside, she already knew that, he was right.

The morning light filled the room, touching Camilla’s face and waking her earlier than usual. She turned to her side and stared at the ceiling for a while. The mansion was quiet, no sound of Zoe in the kitchen cooking, no kettle boiling. Just silence. Her eyes moved to the closet doors. She had avoided them all week, uneasy by Adrian’s words that it had been “arranged” for her. A closet was supposed to be personal. Hers had been filled with old shoes, worn sweaters, and simple dresses. This one was his choice, not hers.Still, she rose and walked to it, pulling the doors open. The sight hit her like a wave.Different types of expensive clothing filled the space. Blouses, tailored skirts, dresses that looked like they belonged on magazine covers. Shoes were displayed in arranged order, bags arranged neatly under warm lights. Everything screamed wealth, order, and his control. She ran her fingers over a sleeve. The fabric was smooth, delicate. She had never touched anything so fine in h

The morning came slower than usual. Camilla stood by the tall glass window of the room, staring at the garden below. The sun was soft, stretching it's golden light across the wide grounds of Adrian’s mansion. For the first time since she had been forced into this contract marriage, she stepped outside to see it for herself. The garden was alive with colors. Roses climbed in soft walls of red and white. Small lilies swayed in the breeze. The grass was so green it looked painted. She walked slowly, touching petals with careful fingers, her heart strangely calm. The scent of the flowers filled her chest, heavy and sweet, making her remember a life she had once dreamed of, peace, a home, love. But this was not peace. This was a contract. Her life was tied to Adrian now, bound to his cold rules and his silent stares. Still, standing in that garden, she felt a small corner of freedom. For a moment she could pretend. Pretend she belonged here, that this beauty was hers. Her thoughts broke wh

The ride home was silent. Not the comfortable kind, but the one that pressed on your chest and made your stomach twist. Adrian kept his eyes ahead as he drives , his jaw tight. Camilla stared out the window, her breath fogging the glass. Neither dared to break the quiet. When the car pulled into the driveway of Adrian's mansion, the butler was already waiting by the door. He bowed lightly, voice warm.“Welcome back, sir. Welcome, madam. Shall I have dinner prepared?”Adrian shook his head. “No. Leave us for tonight.”Camilla added nothing, only followed Adrian through the wide hall, her heels echoing faintly. The air smelled faintly of cedar and wax polish. Chandeliers sparkled above, but to her, the house felt colder than the rain outside.Inside their room, Adrian set his suit jacket over a chair. Camilla walked straight to the bathroom, her body craving the heat of a bath. She didn’t even look at him. The door closed behind her, and soon water poured into the marble tub.She sank

  • Bound to the Billionaire    Chapter 12– Dinner at the Ancestral Home

Camilla closed the hospital door behind her with a soft click, her lips still curved in a small smile. The day had been long, but her heart was light. Roseline’s surgery had finally been scheduled. She could still hear Zoe’s laughter echoing in her ears, the way they had sat together in the waiting lounge, eating crackers from a vending machine and talking about silly things to pass time. For once, the world didn’t feel so heavy on her shoulders.By the time she reached the mansion, the relief in her chest had grown into something like gratitude. She entered the room she shared with Adrian, though the space always felt too big, too quiet. She dropped her bag on the chair and sank into the edge of the bed, running her fingers over the embroidered duvet.A knock came immediately. Sharp, polite, rehearsed. She straightened. “Come in.”The butler stepped inside, holding a large white box in his gloved hands. His face was unreadable, but his tone was formal.“Madam, this is for you.”Camil

Camilla woke with a yawn. For one moment, she thought she was still in her small apartment, with Zoe in the kitchen and the smell of burnt toast sneaking under her door. But the bed was far too soft, the sheets cool and smooth against her skin. There was silence. She turned her head. The other side of the bed was empty. Adrian hadn’t slept there. Just her, in this big bed that swallowed her whole.Something twisted inside her chest. Last night, his presence had been everywhere. His voice, his eyes, the way he looked at her as if peeling her apart piece by piece. But now? Nothing. Not even a trace.A soft knock at the door broke the silence.“Yes?” Her voice croaked from sleep. The butler’s steady tone floated in. “Miss Camilla, Mr. Adrian requests your presence at the breakfast table.”Her fingers curled under the sheet. “Alright. Thank you.”The footsteps faded. She sat up, rubbing her temples. Her head ached from too many thoughts crowding in at once. Adrian hadn’t even checked on

  • Bound to the Billionaire    Chapter Ten – The Shower

The silence after Adrian left the room was heavy. Camilla sat on the edge of the wide bed, her fingers gripping the bedsheet as if she might fall if she let go. She tried to steady her breathing. The sharpness in his voice. The way his jaw had clenched. The quiet fury that followed. He had barely looked at her before walking out, leaving her stranded with her thoughts. She felt out of place in this room, in this house, in his world. The bed was too soft, the curtains too tall, the ceiling too far above her head. She didn’t belong here. And yet, here she was. Her eyes shifted to the bathroom door. She had been holding off, nervous even about using something as simple as the shower. But the weight of the day stayed on her skin like dust. The hospital smell wouldn’t leave her, no matter how many times she rubbed her arms. Slowly, she stood and walked toward the bathroom. The lights flicked on automatically when she stepped inside, and for a moment she just stared. The bathroom was sp
