Caterina
I hear a knock at my bedroom door and sit up as it opens. For some reason, I expected Kai to be the one who stood there, but I was surprised when I saw Viktor instead.
He looked like Kai, piercing blue eyes and huge build, just with darker hair like Konstantin and where Kai had a light beard, Viktor was clean-shaven. He smiles at me, then cocks his head.
“Come with me,” he says and walks out of the bedroom again. I frown at this; Viktor has not so much said a word to me, now he wanted me to follow him?
Sighing, I slip into my ankle boots and follow the Volkov brother out.
He stands by the door, chatting to the other bodyguards when he sees me approach and sends them off.
“You’ve been cooped up here for the last three days, so I’m taking you back to the Blood Crest estate for a little bit.” He says out of the blue and I nearly jump up and hug him!
I’m dying to get out of this penthouse! But before I cou
Caterina Viktor removes a set of keys from his jeans pocket and unlocks the massive oak doors. When we entered, I was seriously expecting a cloud of dust to assault my nose, but there was none. The place was impeccably kept as if it was waiting for its masters to return. The decor showed class and elegance, with every piece of art and furniture painstakingly chosen to compliment the other. I look around in awe; this mansion is magnificent. “Like what you see?” Viktor asks as he joins me in the living room. I nod. “It’s… wow,” Is all I could get out, and he chuckles as he walks further into the room. He comes to a stop in front of an intricate fireplace and looks up; this is when I notice the colossal family portrait above it. There were two adults with five young boys; the man was large and imposing, jet back shoulder-length hair and fierce dark brown eyes; three of the boys matched his appearance. The woman was beauti
Caterina I lost Viktor after a couple of runs around the forest. He’s way faster than I am and is basically a blur when he runs; it didn’t help that I didn’t familiarise myself with his scent either. After a while, I gave up and wandered off on my own. I hear the sounds of a lake and make my way towards it, sniffing the air and listening for any sounds, but when I walk up to the lake, I freeze in my steps. There, having a drink in the lake, was a grey wolf. Its ears perk up when it hears me approach and spin around, growling when it sees me. I take a tentative step backwards but stop as there is something familiar about this wolf, so I inch forward towards it. It showed no signs of backing down, so I shifted back to show it that I meant no harm. The wolf’s ears perk up when it sees me, and then it sits back as it starts to shift as well. Long legs, curvy body, honey-coloured hair and piercing green eyes - Who else would be in
Caterina “So Kai’s position is called a Pakhan, and Konstantin is his Brigadier or second in command?” I asked Viktor, who was currently busy explaining how the hierarchy worked in the Bratva. He nods. “Yes, you’re getting the hang of it. We don’t work according to the entire structure since we’re werewolves, and Kai basically runs legitimate businesses. He refuses to touch drugs, which is something a normal mafia boss would be itching to get their hands into.” He explains as we sit in the powder room area that overlooks Central Park. It’s pretty exciting learning about a different mafia family, and from what Viktor has told me, there is a lot more to it than your average Italian mafia. There’s also much more honour amongst the Volkov family, something I am genuinely not used to. Viktor looks at his wristwatch and sighs. “It’s seven, and I think you’ve learned enough for today, little wolf.” He says and stretches out on the couch. I s
Caterina I’ve been lying on this bed for the last hour and a half, mortified to death about my behaviour last night. My throat hurts from screaming so much, and my legs still feel shaky. Kai is still fast asleep behind me, his morning erection digging into my lower back. Oh, my gosh, how am I going to face him? He made me sit on his face and ride his mouth, pleasured me from the back, with both his fingers and tongue all while I begged for it! What the hell, three more days of this? I need to be chained up! His arm tightens around me, and I hear him groan as he snuggles into my neck. “Caterina,” he whispers my name, and it sends a shiver down my spine. “Good morning,” I answer in a small voice, my face burning in embarrassment, and I hear him chuckle. “What is this anxiety I smell? Are you remembering what I did to you last night?” he asks, gripping me tightly and grinding against my back. “Are
Caterina It is only when Kai finally leaves that I am able to breathe properly. The last few hours with him have been filled with lust and need; I can’t breathe when I am around him. When he’s near, I have the filthiest thoughts, and he makes me want to act on them. Like when I sucked him off in the shower; how the hell! I would never have done that, but he makes me want every part of him. Damnit, the full moon needs to hurry up; I cannot sit with this need for another month! Taking a deep breath, I grabbed my handbag and was about to head downstairs when I noticed how heavy it felt. Frowning, then suddenly my eyes widen as I remember the hidden journals I had found! I could have been reading them all this time, but instead, I got hot and heavy with Kai last night. Gosh. Hiding them in my walk-in, I head out of the door to meet whoever my babysitter for the day would be. Thank God, it’s Viktor! He sees me approach and
Kai I’m trying to contain my anger right now, but I feel that resolve slipping as well. “Where the fuck were you? I thought I told you four not to let them out of your sight, now this?” I exclaim, pointing to the three hearts and severed heads taking up residence on my desk. Three more girls murdered, three more failures settling deep into my bones. “Boss, we literally followed them everywhere right up to the doorstep of their apartments and only allowed them inside after we did a sweep of the place, inside and out. We took turns watching the apartment and gave them space as you asked. But it was only when we went to collect them for work when we noticed they were missing and called you immediately.” One of my enforcers, Lee, spoke up. Pinching the bridge of my nose, I let out a frustrated sigh and dismissed them with the wave of my hand. I look at the ‘gifts’ left on my desk and grit my teeth in frustration. “How does
Caterina I could still feel its stare on me even as I sat on my bed at the penthouse. It felt dangerous and otherworldly, and I know it had its eyes on me. How did it know who I was? Trying to shake off my fear, I walk towards my walk-in and scratch around for those hidden journals. I had to take my mind off of this bad feeling, and I think this will help. Climbing back onto the bed, I take a wet wipe from my handbag and wipe the leather covers to reveal a word: Волков. I frown at this, then remove my phone from my handbag and search for a scan to translate app on the web. When I eventually found one and had the app translated, it did not surprise me at what it came up with: Volkov. These must be the ancestor journals! When I open the books, I sigh as I realise that the owner wrote both of them in Russian. Feeling like a spy, I opened the scan-to-translate app again and started my investigation. March 1801
Caterina I stayed up all night, wondering what Dmitry had meant by the term ‘hybrid’. Was there something sinister running in the Volkov genes? I waited for Kai to come home so I could discuss this with him, but he never pitched. Usually, he would come in late, but last night he didn’t even make it home; I wonder if something happened again. On second thought, Kai has so much on his plate already. I can’t exactly add that he might be a hybrid beast of some sort. This will only knock him down more, so I made up my mind to instead talk to Viktor about it when I see him today. It was 8 am when I eventually roused from my sleep with the knowledge that today would be the day Kai claims me as his mate. The nerves set in when I got out of bed and worsened when I stood under a cold shower. My heart sat in my throat as I dried myself off, and I tried to calm myself down, but nothing was helping. My eyes caught my reflection in the mirror, and
