Why are they staring at me like that? Did I say something wrong?
“What?” I ask, taking a step back, but Kai grabs my wrist and pulls me towards the floor-length mirror in my walk-in.
“What’s going on…” I trail off as I catch my reflection in the mirror, realising that my once silver Beta eyes were now shining gold. Moving closer to the mirror, I observe the different colours of my eyes, but as I do, something occurs to me. I look up at Kai.
“This eye colour… it’s the same as the woman I met in the woods. Her eyes glistened gold,” I say, remembering how calm I felt when I looked at her.
Kai breathes out a sigh and pinches the bridge of his nose.
“I have no fucking idea what this could mean,” he says, clearly exasperated by what was happening to me.

Caterina As I open my eyes, I am assaulted by a splitting headache and immediately let out a groan. The images are blurred but soon come into focus, and I realize that I am back at the penthouse. Kai After watching how relaxed and calm she was during today's outing, I didn’t want to ruin her peace of mind.
