Emma's POV

I could not do this anymore.

Three nights of Liam calling from different numbers. Three nights of him showing up outside my building. Three nights of barely sleeping because I kept hearing sounds that were not there.

And Jake. Jake looking at me like I was a stranger. Like I was someone he could not trust. Like maybe Liam was right about everything.

I had to tell him. Had to tell Jake the truth before Liam twisted everything beyond repair.

But what if Jake did not believe me? What if he thought I was making it up? What if the photos and texts Liam had were more convincing than anything I could say?

It did not matter anymore. I had to try.

I picked up my phone. Stared at Jake's number for five minutes before I found the courage to call.

"Emma?" He answered on the second ring. "Is Alex okay?"
