Chapter 12

Evelyn's POV

The beast fell with a deafening crash, and Austen collapsed with it.

I stared at the horrifying wound in his chest, blood pouring out.

His life force was draining away.

"Austen!"

I rushed over and knelt beside him.

Silver healing light poured from my palms, desperately trying to repair the damage.

But it was too severe.

The claws had pierced his heart and torn through his lungs. Even my power couldn't fully mend it.

"Dammit..." I gritted my teeth, pushing more energy into the healing.

I hated that a part of me was relieved to see him. I wanted nothing to do with him. Ever.

But he had saved us. And I was a healer. I couldn't let him die.

"Master Evelyn!"

A shout came from the distance. The Alliance rescue team had finally found us.

"Quick! Help me get him to the tent!" I yelled to my approaching comrades.

Several healers rushed forward, carefully lifting the unconscious Austen.

"He's hurt badly," a senior healer said, examining the wound. "He needs immediate treatment."
