ONE DAY LATER

I stared out of the window, my eyes taking in the desolate land. Knox’s once fertile land was in ruins, and it had been by my hands.

Knox’s loud wailing could be heard from a distance, Hudson hadn’t stopped torturing him. I had kept the rest of the prisoners; Kane and Damian in the same room. They weren’t tortured yet, but they could watch and enjoy Knox’s pain.

“Mikhail,” Xavier called out, pointing his phone in my direction.

He tried to act strong, but I could see it beneath his eyes, the battle had scared him. He was still recovering from whatever poison it was that stone had used on him.

“Get me, Hudson,” I said to a guard, the few loyal ones that had survived the war.

I needed to return to my kingdom to deal with the elders that had turned against me, but seeing Xavier’s weakened state, I couldn’t put us in such danger. They would believe that we are dead, just like I had intended, and when the time was right I would return.
