Lola P.O.V

I turned around, trying to find my way out of the bed from the other side, but his reflexes were sharp. He was one step ahead of me, grabbing the corner of my nightgown. I fought back with all my might to break free from his grasp. Then I quickly ran off.

He stormed over from the other side of the bed and roughly yanked me back onto it by my arm. Towering over me, he ripped my nightgown off in one swift motion. I only felt a cold sensation on my skin as I struggled with embarrassment and anger, shouting,

“Ragnar, as the future Alpha of the Livingston army, how can you bully a weak woman like me?”

Ragnar was unmoved by my words and struggles, pinning me down with his muscular body and whispering coldly in my ear,

“You married me, and now you are my mate. Don’t tell me you’ve changed your mind. It’s too late.”

Now he stripped me of all my clothes and warned me menacingly,

“You better behave this time, or your fate will be the same as theirs.”

As he spoke, my heart turned to ice. What did he mean by “theirs”? Who were they? Did he mean the fate of his previous six wives who couldn’t survive their wedding night? Fear consumed me as I stared at his blurry face in front of me.

Clenching my teeth, I dared not make another squeak. His movements were violent and savage, with no regard for the fact that I was a lady. I failed to break free of his grip, and hence I had no choice but to grit my teeth and endure his assault.

Eventually, exhaustion overpowered me—or perhaps it was more accurate to say that I was tortured into unconsciousness by this man on top of me.

In my dream, flames raged around me, and in the distance I saw my sister Calista, reaching out to me, pleading for help. She admitted to having been a terrible sister, always tormenting and bullying me. She begged me to save her, to keep her from dying or being disfigured.

But just as I reached out to grab her, a flame shot up and consumed her entirely.

“Calista!” I screamed out her name, jolting awake in a cold sweat.

My heart raced as I caught my breath while wiping away the perspiration on my forehead. Thank goodness—I was relieved that it was only a dream.

After a few moments, I regained my composure. Now I could finally see the décor of the room. I realized that everything before me was so unfamiliar.

I was in a place I had never been. I sat stunned on the bed for a while, suddenly realizing the pain and discomfort in my body, as if it had fallen apart.

The memories before sleep gradually came back into my mind—Ragnar’s appearance, the scene of him pressing on me. When I lowered my head, I saw my naked body.

Then I turned my head to the side and saw a man lying there. I realized it was Ragnar, my newlywed husband with whom I had just shared an intimate time the previous night.

Just the thought of spending my wedding night with a total stranger made me feel sad and angry. With anger, I lowered my head to look at him but was surprised to find that I still couldn’t quite outline his face in the darkness.

His arm was around my waist, and his eyebrows furrowed. When I cautiously tried to push his hand away from me, I realized that something seemed off about him. Was he shivering?

Indeed, even though the room was still dark, I could clearly see and feel that his body was shaking as if he were enduring some kind of unbearable pain. Legend had it that Ragnar was a sickly man. Did his illness start to act up, or was he just having a nightmare?

Instinctively, I moved away a bit from him, thinking that if he had a nightmare like I did, waking him up should do the trick, right?

With that thought in mind, I slowly reached out my hand and attempted to poke his shoulder with my fingertip to wake him up. But my fingertip had barely touched his skin when, all of a sudden, he sat up from the bed and lunged toward me.

This startled me, and I instinctively tried to move away, but he managed to somehow grab my neck in the darkness. While tightly strangling me, he gnashed his teeth and muttered,

“Why did you give up on me? Why? Why?”

His strength was immense, and he squeezed my neck so tightly, making it almost impossible for me to breathe.

“Let go!” I struggled to speak as I used my trembling hand, trying to grab Ragnar’s shoulder.

But the Ragnar in front of me seemed to have gone insane, muttering something incoherent and acting completely out of control. His strength made all my struggles in vain.

I finally understood how his six ex-wives died. They must have all been strangled to death by him when he went mad like this. Soon my lungs ran out of air.

I started to get dizzy, and my strength slowly diffused away from my body. Everything seemingly slowed down, including my struggles.

Just when I thought I was going to be that seventh wife of his who would die in his hands, he suddenly released me.

I fell off from the bed before I curled up like a shrimp on the floor. I gasped for air greedily. I did not even have the strength to sit myself up at the moment.

Suddenly I heard Zoe whispering to me,

“Lola, I sense the wolf in Ragnar just now…” She trailed off.

My face turned pale, and I couldn’t believe it. But I heard that Ragnar’s wolf had disappeared.

“I’m positive about it,” she continued. “You know how rumors can be unreliable. His wolf is real, but its scent is oddly weak and unstable for some reason. Maybe it’s because Ragnar is sick?”

My gaze involuntarily turned to him. He looked rather ill, in fact. It would be strange if the wolf in his body was stable.

But I didn’t have any extra energy to care about anything else at this moment. I tried to calm my breathing slowly.

After a while, the air was filled with a subtle scent of metallic tang. Instantly, I turned to look at Ragnar, who was still lying on the floor.

From my position I could only see his broad back. He was still shaking but had stopped mumbling after releasing me.

I assumed he had bitten his own lip too hard, causing it to bleed and the scent of iron to fill the air. If he continued like this, he might be in danger.

Realizing this, I used all my strength and tried to sit up in bed.

I decided to keep my anger and hatred toward him aside first. I then grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around myself, stumbling out of bed. I wanted to turn on the light.

But the switch didn’t respond no matter how many times I pressed it. From the look of it, it seemed like he was having a relapse. As I scanned the room, I couldn’t find any suitable items to put in his mouth.

I thought I should prevent him from killing himself by biting his tongue off. In desperation, I went straight over to him, shoving my hand into his mouth. I didn’t have a choice. I had never been so brave in my life.

“Ah!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. It hurt really bad. I couldn’t believe he would bite me so hard.

In the midst of the pain, I even wondered if he would have fractured my bone with the force of his bite.

The darkness of the night couldn’t veil the eyes of those who remained awake, their attention fixed on the room’s every move. My agonizing screams pierced through the silence of the entire mansion.

Panicked footsteps echoed toward the door, followed by the creaking sound of its hinges as it swung open, revealing a group of people looming before me.

The pain in my hand had started to make me feel faint. I stared blankly at the people in front of me.

I didn’t know anyone in the house. In the daze, someone pulled my hand out of Ragnar’s mouth.

Lola pov Tossing and turning in bed, I caught sight of the clock on the wall, its hands pointing at the witching hour of 01:00 in the morning. At this moment, the mansion was so quiet that one could hear the sound of a needle falling on the ground. As a gust of wind blew by, the window screens fluttered and made a delicate sound. After what had happened in the prayer room, I couldn't help but feel a chill. I tightened the blanket around me at once. I thought about turning on the light, only to remember that it had been tampered with and wouldn't shine. At night, Agnes had said that I wasn't allowed to turn on the light when Ragnar was around. The next moment, scenes of Ethan and Calista being intimate, and Calista's vicious words replaced my thoughts. I shook my head and closed my eyes. I really couldn't think about any of these anymore. Suddenly, a knocking sound came from the door. I turned away from the door. Instead of getting up, I curled up under the blanket and wiped awa

  • Bride For The Cursed Alpha    The Familiar ghost

Lola POV Two servants immediately came from the door and dragged me to the backyard. “What are you doing?” I was hauled to the prayer room on the west side of the building. The prayer room was more like a medium-sized church than an actual prayer room, and the absence of any religious items only accentuated the purity and nobility of the room with its snow-white walls and large, transparent windows. The center of the room held a massive, polygonal table with various objects adorning each corner—pocket watches, rings, glasses, chains, and even withered roses stacked on one another, almost touching the ceiling. It was a solemn, dignified space filled with mystery. As I gazed in awe at the impressive table, the two maids brought me to my knees, forcing me to kneel on the floor. Agnes appeared before me with an emotionless face, stating, “Madam Calista, you will be here to reflect for a day and night.” With that, she turned on her heel and left. I was dumbstruck. A whole da

As he drove, Ethan's mind couldn’t help but wander to Lola and the man from earlier. Despite being the one who asked for the breakup, the sight of Lola already getting cozy with another man stung him with humiliation. After all, they had been together for three years, and as a member of the most prestigious family in the city, Ethan expected Lola to feel the pain of their breakup for at least a few weeks, if not months. But what if Calista was right? What if Lola had already been seeing this man even while they were still dating, and had simply been waiting for Ethan to initiate the breakup so she wouldn’t have to play the villain in the end? In the central tower of the Livingstone Army, Agnes, the person in charge of all the Nightfang family affairs, frowned. Her eyes were not as sharp as they used to be, and hence she could not make out the outline of the picture. Without hesitation, she turned to Taylor, who was sitting with the Queen and sipping tea. Taylor was Ragnar’s cousi

Lola P O.V I glared at him and asked through gritted teeth, “Ethan, is this how you feel? Did you really fall in love with her a year ago?” Ethan looked at her and eventually nodded. “I’m sorry.” His apology broke my heart. No wonder when I cried to him a week ago about having to marry Ragnar, that pained expression of his seemed so fake. “My little sister, now that you heard it yourself from Ethan, are you going to give up for good?” Calista smirked, intentionally leaning into his arms and kissing his lips. Even the most cowardly person on Earth knew that they shouldn’t sit still and do nothing in the face of such a provocation. “Nice try, Calista, but I’m not about to let you and Ethan get away with this. You think I’m just going to roll over and take it? No way. Even if it means going down together, I’m going to do it.” “What do you mean? What are you going to do?” Calista’s face darkened. “I will return to the Queen and reveal this deceitful scheme plotted by you and Etha

Lola P.O.V Jamie and my stepmother, Larissa, were both out, so the house was empty. When I arrived, the kitchen was buzzing with activity. I presumed that the servants were preparing lunch. I rushed upstairs to Calista’s bedroom. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. As I waited at the door of Calista’s room, a strange noise caught my attention. My curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn’t resist opening the door a little. There was no one in there, and the noise seemingly came from the bathroom. When I took a peek into the bathroom, I saw two people making out inside. I had to take a step back to catch my breath. Wait—hold up. Wasn’t that my boyfriend, Ethan, whom I had dated for three years? And my half-sister, Calista? My mind seemed to have exploded and my body froze. Wasn’t Calista disfigured after being burned in her apartment? But why was she at home without a scratch on her? And why were they together here? How long had the two of them been seeing each other?

  • Bride For The Cursed Alpha    Going Home

RAGNAR P.O.V The first time I laid eyes on my newly wedded mate, Calista, I could immediately sense that my wolf, Lucas, had become more unstable. In fact, it had been silent for a long time due to the curse. This was an extremely rare phenomenon. “I heard you can cure my illness,” I said coldly, sizing up Calista in the darkness. “I’m talking to you.” I leaned in, using my fingers to lift her chin and force her to meet my gaze. As I looked into her eyes, something passed through my body. This feeling was the same as when I first saw her picture. For a moment, I saw something in Calista’s eyes that reminded me of that specific woman. In truth, I already had the same feeling when I saw her picture, otherwise I wouldn’t have agreed to my mother’s arrangement to marry her. Knowing full well that they two were not the same person, I still chose to marry this girl called Calista. Strangely enough, in the first second that I saw her, I felt an unexplainable impulse and desire burning
