Xena

This is ridiculous. Xael brought his mate here, but still wants us to act like we were before. Wolves are simple when it comes to these things. Clint’s response will hurt, but it will give my smitten wolf a wakeup up call.

“Has he?” I ask Diana.

“Yes, I have chosen you,” it is Clint who responds, completely throwing me off.

“What? That’s impossible!” I exclaim. He was all proud and cocky earlier when he declared that Gwen was their mate. Shouldn’t he fight for their mate?

“Xael!” I cry out, my whole body trembles when he unexpectedly enters me in one thrust.

“Clint and I will always choose you, no matter what. You are supposed to know this. We will grow old with you. We will die first before betraying this. Unlike you,” Xael says with an accusatory tone before pinning my arms above my head. I now feel like the one in the wrong. It does not help that I am completely compromised. I can’t suppress my moans. He knows exactly how to please my treacherous body. I am now on fire and completely under his spell.

“You owe me an apology,” he murmurs before locking his eyes on me and spilling his seeds inside me. “I was looking forward to being with my wife and she shut me out. Do you know how much that hurt me?”

“Hurt you? You brought…”

“Shh, not the time. I am not done with you,” he cuts me off and I can’t resist. It is two hours later when we collapse on the bed, utterly exhausted.

We made love and it felt great, but something is different. Our bedroom feels like it is haunted tonight. He has pulled me in his arms as usual, but I can feel the distance between us. He declared his undying love and loyalty when we made love, but he is miles away now.

It is past mid-night when he gets up and gets dressed.

“I need to go check on Gwen. She is not okay.”

I guess he can sense his mate. That is normal between mates, but it still hurts. He does not wait for my response but heads towards the door and leaves. To me, that is his true choice. He is not back when I head to work the following day.

He shows up at the hospital around mid-morning with a massive bunch of flowers. I spot him early, head to my lab and shut the door. That should keep him away.

“The Alpha is here. I told you guys that the presence of his mate won’t change anything.”

I hear the nurses gossip outside.

“Maybe he feels guilty. It always starts like that. Believe me, I know,” another one responds.

“Luna Xena is great, and I adore her, but the pack should prepare itself for their divorce.”

“How can you say that, Luise!”

“His wolf will always choose his true mate. It is their nature,” Luise says with certainty.

She is right and it hurts. My only dilemma is Xaden. He was so disappointed that his father did not have breakfast with us.

I block out everything and focus on the microscope before me. I might as well focus my energy on something that will never let me down. Unlike people, science never lies.

An hour later, I have ignored several calls and knocks at the door, until it all stops. I have figured a way to treat Alpha Damilion’s son. Now this is amazing!

It is almost dark when I come out of the lab. The staff looks worriedly at me.

“Are you okay, Doc?” nurse Luise asks, concern evident in her voice. I know that she really likes me.

“We have been calling and knocking at the door. The Alpha was also here and…”

“I am fine. We have a cure for the D-pack heir,” I tell them, and they are shocked. The D-pack Alpha brought his two-months old dying pup to us after being everywhere looking for a cure for him. His wife died giving birth to their son, their only pup. We were the last resort and close to giving up. It turns out I needed eight hours in the lab to figure it out.

“OMG! Really?”

I nod with a huge smile before leading the way to high care.

“I will let Alpha Damilion know,” nurse Luise announces and literally runs towards the duty station.

“This is huge. D-pack will be indebted to us forever,” nurse Maggie says.

“At this rate, everyone will be indebted to X-pack forever. You saved the Lycan king last year,” nurse Sandy reminds me.

The king was so grateful, he built the hospital’s south wing and donated the state-of-the-art equipment in the lab.

“And I get to witness it all. I can’t wait to tell our colleagues about this!” Doctor West beams.

“Beat you to it,” Doctor Storm says before typing on her phone.

I can only shake my head when they start arguing. They are both very smart but immature. Then again, most academics are like this.

“Alpha Damilion is already here,” Luise reports when she joins us.

“Really? D-pack is an hour away.”

“He was coming to visit his pup,” she replies right when the Alpha walks in with his Beta and warriors. A typical Alpha in looks, aura and stature. He is by far the most respectful of all the Alpha’s I have encountered.

He nods his head for me to proceed with the infusion to his fragile pup. I hold my breath as the solution I spend hours making, rush into the pup’s veins. This pup is the future Alpha of D-pack. This better work.

“The vitals are stable,” Doctor West reports.

“The prince is breathing on his own. He is breathing!” Doctor Storm adds, literally jumping up and down.

“Ahem!” I clear my throat. The Alpha is here, and they are too excited. I don’t want them to give him too much hope before we see the results.

“It is okay, Luna Xena. I can see for myself. This is the most tangible progress I have seen since Daniel was born,” the Alpha tells me.

“I am taking him off the ventilator,” Doctor West announces. The pup is really doing well and even moving his tiny arms and feet.

“Do that. I will process his bloods,” Doctor Storm tells him.

I just stand there at the pup’s bedside and watch them run up and down. Across from me is the Alpha and his entourage.

“The bloods are perfect. It is safe to say the prince will be fine!”

“West! I was supposed to make that announcement!” Doctor Storm is not impressed. She is the one who processed the blood and should be giving the report, but I am too tired and hungry to intervene in their bickering.

“You hijacked my message on the doctors’ group. We are even,” Doctor West defends his actions.

The pup will be fine. My heart jumps with joy. I can’t believe this worked.

“Stop competing and watch the prince closely. I will head home now,” I instruct and head out.

I am at the door when they respond in unison. “Yes Doc.”

“Luna Xena.”

I turn to find Alpha Damilion and his entourage on their knees.

“Thank you. My pack and I will never…”

Alpha Damilion has not completed his sentence when a fuming Xael shows up.

He looks at Alpha Damilion and back at me with his eyes blazing. I can feel his anger and his heart racing.

“Is this why you want divorce?”

I look at him, shocked. He read my mind and knows why I wanted to divorce him.

“I have been looking everywhere for you, Xena. You ignored my calls. This is why,” he accuses.

“I was working, Xael.”

“Right,” he smirks. “You missed the court to welcome Gwen to the pack. You know fully well that no decision can be made without your approval. You did this on purpose,” he accuses and now I am mad.

“You are angry and making a scene in front of guests because I was saving lives instead of welcoming your mate to the pack?” I ask, my rage threatening to explode. I am hungry and tired. I don’t have the patience for this.

His jaw clenches and nostrils flare. He is fuming and I don’t care.

“You are twisting my words. You have an Alpha of another pack and his officials on their knees proposing to you and you claim to have been working.”

My jaw drops at his assessment. This is how an Alpha would propose. It is how he got me to be his Luna.

“I think there has been a misunderstanding, Xael. Your Luna saved my only son and heir. I have searched for a cure everywhere and was starting to give up. I was just thanking her,” Alpha Damilion explains before getting on his feet and bowing his head. I feel so embarrassed. Now he and everyone knows our marital problems.

“We will go now,” he adds right before my vision gets blurry and everything becomes blank.

  • Bring Back Dr Luna   Suspicious

XaelA day later, Clint continues to shut me out. He refuses to leave Gwen’s bedroom, and I have no energy to overcome him. I feel stuck in this body. This is a nightmare! It is mid-day when Carl knocks and opens the door. He walks in without waiting for the invitation. I can’t help noticing that the charm he is wearing around his neck is bigger than the one he usually wears. “The pack is under attack. Rogues have infiltrated our borders, Alpha,” he says, with all his attention on Clint.“Our warriors can take care of them,” stupid Clint responds and makes no attempt to move. Something is really wrong here. Clint might be smitten by Gwen, but Alpha wolves are territorial. This should get him all pumped up, but he is not. “The Alpha handles this. It is the law. The pack will ask questions if …”“Fine! I will be there,” he cuts Carl off but still does not move. Carl ignores the not-so-subtle dismissal and remains standing until Clint gets off that bed and follows him outside.

  • Bring Back Dr Luna   My heart will always beat for you

Xael“You can put me down now,” Xena tells me the moment I kick the door to our chambers shut. I narrow my eyes at her. We made out earlier. It felt like old times but her whole demeanor has changed. Her tone suggests that I am faking my affection towards her. Damilion’s words have achieved the intended effect. Talking will not help, it might even make matters worse. I just have to show her how I feel.I push her against the wall and passionately kiss her before letting this night to be decide by our wolves. We are complex, but they are simple with these things. It also helps that Diana is in heat. I am about to reach climax when pain shoots on my back. I gasp, when it happens again and again. Xena stops moving and makes eye contact. “You are feeling her lashes,” she says with a neutral tone, and I nod. The Beta’s must be executing my command to punish Fiona and Gwen with fifty lashes. Shit! I feel like the flesh on my back is getting torn apart. “You can go, Xael,” she

  • Bring Back Dr Luna   Confronting Damilion

XaelXena clenches her jaw and shots me a deadly stare for putting her phone on loudspeaker before answering. “Alpha Damilion.”“My Luna,” Damilion greets charmingly. I involuntarily clench my fists as Clint stirs inside.“Thank you for sending the helicopter. It saved a lot of lives.”“My pleasure, always.”The bastard is trying to be cool and charming by watering down how that helicopter saved the day. “I am curious, though. How did you know we needed help?”I am taken aback by Xena’s question while Damilion chuckles. “I was in the hospital to pick up Daniel and heard about your dilemma from the staff. I must admit that I was disappointed that you did not reach out to me. I thought we were friends.”The sly bastard even sounds hurt. The girl will feel guilty and try to make it up to him and he gets his way. It’s the oldest trick in the book.“I did not think about it but thank you.” She does not fall for it. I feel like an idiot once more. Xena did not call Damilio

  • Bring Back Dr Luna   Voice of reason

XenaWest and I climb down the cliff. It is steeper and harder than I thought. The cold wind is merciless, making the fingertips numb, but we manage to get to the injured. Jane is in a bad shape and badly alive. A needle around her heart to drain the blood compressing her heart does the trick. She should be fine until she gets to the hospital. Her son has a concussion, and fractures of both his legs, but he should also be fine. Uncle Frank is the one not so stable. My heart sinks as he holds my hand and insist on speaking.“You… and… Xael…” he takes breaks to utter each word. It is obvious that is taking everything off him. “Don’t speak, Uncle Frank, just breathe,” I urge, but he tightens his grip and shakes his head.“You… two… can’t se-pa-ra-te. The… pack… will ..be.. doomed…” His oxygen saturation is dropping with each word and his lips are turning blue, but he insists on talking. We have no choice but sedate him and put a tube in his throat to help him breathe. “He mig

  • Bring Back Dr Luna   In heat

XaelIt is freezing today, yet I am hot. I clench and unclench my fists. I know that I have messed up, but how could she call Damilion?I am fuming when the helicopter rises, and she and the doctor West are inside it. “The team says your wife is stable. She is being lifted to the intensive care unit,” I hear Jake inform Vincent, who mumbles a thank you.“Thank Luna, she saved your wife,” Jake responds before coming to me. Its easy to tell that Vincent is not his favorite. “The injured have been taken to the hospital, Your Majesty. They are critical but stable. That is what she does,” he tells me and leaves. I know how capable Xena is. It’s infuriating that he feels that he needs to tell me this. It’s the same with everyone around me. They have all assumed that I will choose Gwen no matter what I say. I head to my car and drive off. I guess I should be relieved that the injured are now taken care of, but I feel like I am imploding. Xena turned to Damilion, who obviously want

  • Bring Back Dr Luna   A mess

XaelJake, the paramedic’s Beta calls to inform me that Uncle Frank, Vincent’s wife and son and five more of our pack families were involved in an accident. Carl and I rush there, and it is really bad. There are already four fatalities. The paramedics are doing their best. Carl and I exchange looks when Jake informs us that Xena told him that the helicopter is not available. Could it be? I shake my head. There is no way.I am flabbergasted to discover that I completely misunderstood Xena this morning. I feel so dumb for not realizing this earlier. The only helicopter she would have keys for is the emergency one and I commanded her to give it to Fiona and Gwen. Xena is so angry. Vincent and his arrogance is not helping either. He thinks she is being vengeful because the council overruled her. That is my fault too. “We are never going to get them back,” Clint says with a defeated tone. “I can’t connect with Diana and Xena can’t even stand being close to us.”“Not the time, Clin
