Chapter 2

Author: Crossing Autumn
Gianna trembled with anger at my arrogance. Without another word, she pulled out her phone and made a call. She shot me a smug glance as she complained, "Darling, someone is bullying me. She even deliberately smashed the token of love you gave me.

"Come to the coffee shop with backup right now!"

A voice I knew all too well came from the other end, "Who has the nerve to cause trouble in your shop? Didn't you tell her who I am?"

"I did, but this bitch said you wouldn't dare lay a finger on her even if you showed up," Gianna answered.

Levi let out a cold laugh over the phone. "There's no one in all of Westford I wouldn't dare lay a hand on. Wait for me—I'll be there shortly."

After hanging up, Gianna snorted at me haughtily. "My husband is on his way. Let's see how long your attitude lasts."

I watched her act so arrogantly and suddenly said, "Why don't we make a bet? Let's see if your 'husband' helps you teach me a lesson or kneels before me to beg for forgiveness once he arrives."

Gianna and Jeff burst into sharp, mocking laughter. Gianna said, "Kneel in front of you and beg for forgiveness? You've lost your mind."

Once the laughter died down, Gianna agreed without hesitation, "Fine. If you lose, you'll have to pay me three million dollars for the cup. You'll also have to kneel at the coffee shop entrance, slapping your face while admitting you're a pauper who can't appreciate fancy coffee. So? Do you have the guts?"

I shrugged. "And if you lose?"

Gianna spoke with total confidence, "If I lose, I'll strip naked and run through the streets, admitting that I brewed my coffee with cheap instant powder."

I nodded with satisfaction.

Just as I was about to sit and wait for Levi, Jeff suddenly snatched my backpack. He turned it upside down, and everything inside spilled onto the floor with a clatter. My designer luxury sunglasses fell out and got crushed underfoot.

My expression darkened instantly. "What are you doing?"

Jeff spoke as if he was completely in the right, "I'm checking if you can actually pay the three million dollars. What if you try to back out on the bill later?"

My limited-edition, co-branded collectible dolls—the kind that money alone couldn't buy—fell to the ground, and Jeff carelessly trampled them. Finally, a contract worth hundreds of millions of dollars dropped to the floor. My expression shifted instantly as I leaned over to pick up the contract.

Gianna had been watching my face the entire time. Seeing my reaction, she stepped on the papers before I could reach them.

I stared at her coldly. "You should probably read what that contract actually says before you decide to keep acting like an idiot."

Jeff bent down to pick up the contract, and his face instantly turned pale with shock. "Gianna, this looks like a contract from your dad's company."

Gianna's brows twitched, and she quickly took the contract from him. The nine-figure sum struck them both at once. They caught their breath, visibly startled.

After the shock passed, Gianna's expression turned grim. She rushed forward, raising her hand to slap me.

I caught her wrist and shoved her hard to the floor. "I'm not someone you can afford to mess with. You'd better think straight."

Gianna glared at me with fury. "What are you so smug about? You're nothing but my dad's mistress. No wonder you have the nerve to act so bold in front of me. Do you really think you can sleep your way into being my stepmother with that used-up body of yours?"

I frowned. "Mistress? Stepmother? What are you talking about?"

"Stop pretending," Gianna said. "Your underwear was left in my dad's car. This is a contract worth over one hundred million dollars. If nothing was going on between you two, there's no way he'd let a newcomer like you handle it.

"He told me this morning that he was going to sign a very important contract. It turns out he was doing this to boost the numbers for a homewrecker like you."

Gianna's voice was so loud that it drew the attention of passersby. Hearing words like "mistress" and "homewrecker", the crowd grew interested and gathered around the entrance.

After hearing Gianna out, they began cheering her on.

"Hit the mistress! Beat this homewrecker to death for stealing another woman's man!"

Gianna's eyes turned vicious as she signaled Jeff. "Grab this bitch. I'm going to teach her a lesson today."

My eyes widened in shock. I could hardly believe what I heard. "Levi, what you're doing is illegal!"Levi let out a twisted laugh. "As long as you don't report this to the police, no one will know that I'm breaking the law. As the daughter of the wealthiest man in Westford, you surely don't want your sex tape spreading everywhere."He scanned the onlookers and said, "You were all just hurling insults at Riley, and some of you even laid hands on her. Miller Group will never let you get away with it."You're better off throwing in with me on something bigger. I promise that once it's done, I'll give each of you a million dollars. Then, you can take the money and leave Westford, starting over somewhere else."From the moment the conflict started in the coffee shop, those who didn't want to get involved had already left. The dozen or so who remained were all tempted by Levi's words.Jeff let out a nasty laugh. "Not only do we get paid, but we also get to sleep with the daughter of the

The moment Levi got a clear look at my face, he froze in place. His lips trembled, and all the color drained from his face in an instant.Gianna didn't notice anything off about him and kept yelling, "How dare you call Levi by his name! You're about to be done for, yet you still refuse to admit your mistakes!"She raised her hand, covered in metal rings, ready to slap me again.Levi finally snapped out of it and rushed to stop her."Levi, what are you doing?" she asked. She stared at him in disbelief, then her expression darkened with fury. "Are you involved with this bitch? I knew she was a homewrecker. How dare she go after my man? I'm going to ruin her face today."As she spoke, she rushed forward to strike me.Levi finally lost his patience and slapped her across the face. "Shut up!"Gianna clutched her cheek, her eyes filling with tears. "You hit me? You actually struck me because of a mistress?"I stared at Levi coldly. "Tell her who the real mistress is."Levi took my

Owen stepped outside to greet Levi with a fawning smile. Even Jeff and the bystanders who had been holding me down went out to gawk at Levi's luxury supercar.Gasps of admiration filled the air."Wow! I remember that there are only two of these supercars in the world, and one belongs to the Prince of Ismira. I never expected the other one to be Levi's.""Gianna is so lucky to have a boyfriend who's tall, rich, and handsome. Riding in a car like this must feel incredible."Levi wore a refined, confident smile and calmly accepted Gianna's kiss on his lips.Owen wore an ingratiating expression. "Mr. Anderson, what brings you here today?"Levi answered, "I heard someone was giving Gianna a hard time, so naturally, I had to come see who in all of Westford dares to mess with my woman."Gianna gave Levi's chest a playful, shy nudge. "Darling, I knew you were the best! With you around, any problem can be easily solved."Levi said proudly, "Of course."After getting his assurance, Gian

Gianna caught on to Owen's plan a beat later. She immediately stopped crying and broke into a smile.Realizing that she had someone backing her, she looked at me smugly. "You bitch, do you really think that you can frame me? In your dreams!"My expression instantly darkened as I demanded, "Owen, I thought you were smart. With so many witnesses here, do you think you can twist the truth and pin this on me?"Owen chuckled and turned to walk toward the onlookers. "Do me a favor today. Once it's done, I'll give each of you ten thousand dollars to keep quiet. How does that sound?"The bystanders were just ordinary people, and ten thousand dollars was a tempting sum to them. Most looked tempted, while only a few still seemed uncertain.Seeing their hesitation, Owen raised the offer. "I'll give you 20 thousand dollars. I'm not asking much—just say you didn't see who tore the contract."20 thousand dollars is more than half a year's wages for most of you. Don't be too greedy."Owen's th

Gianna's face turned pale in an instant. Her fingers trembled, and the contract fell to the floor.Owen walked into the shop, eyeing Gianna suspiciously. "What's wrong? Didn't we agree to go to the hot springs? Why are so many people gathered at the entrance?"Gianna's eyes flickered. She immediately clung to Owen's arm and pouted playfully. "Dad, it's all your mistress' fault. She actually dared to come here and provoke me. I lost my temper for a moment and—"Owen looked somewhat awkward. "What mistress? Don't talk nonsense."Gianna stomped her foot and pointed her finger at me. "Your mistress is standing right here. Are you really going to deny it?"Only then did Owen turn his gaze to me. "Are you saying that she's my mistress? I don't even know her."Gianna's expression froze. She sounded a bit anxious. "How could you not know her? If she isn't your mistress, why is that valuable contract in her hands?"Owen grew more confused as he listened. "What valuable contract? What mis

I recoiled sharply and shot Jeff and Gianna a warning look. "Your dad, Owen Reed, begged me to sign this contract. If you dare lay a finger on me, Luxara Corporation will go bankrupt tomorrow."Starting half a year ago, Owen, the chairman of Luxara Corporation, had been trying to reach me by every possible means. He wanted to persuade me to invest in Luxara Corporation. After investigating, I found that Luxara Corporation was poorly managed and had long teetered on the brink of bankruptcy. Miller Group had no reason to invest in them, but Owen showed up outside Miller Group's building every single day, putting on a pitiful act.I thought his presence was an eyesore, so I threw two million dollars into Luxara Corporation without much thought. To my surprise, the company managed to stay afloat with that money. Only then did I start to take an interest.Three months ago, Owen returned to Miller Group, claiming he had a hundred-million-dollar deal that he wanted me to invest in. After
