Sophia

The past few days, I’ve felt like a mouse trapped in a cage while a cat watches me. The cat was Bright. We didn’t talk. We barely existed in the same room together, only during dinner or breakfast. Bright didn’t have lunch with me because he was always out.

I don’t know when our relationship became like this. It wasn’t fair to me. I was tired of feeling guilty for something that wasn’t my fault. Bright was punishing me with his silence, and it was driving me crazy.

The sound of the doorbell pulled me out of my thoughts. I jumped slightly but quickly hurried to open the door without stopping to think about who it might be. When I saw him standing there in the doorway, my heart stopped for a second.

Dante was standing there in front of the door. He had a smile on his face as he looked at me.

The maids weren’t home. I had given them the day off so I could be alone. I needed privacy, and I was tired of pretending to be fine just so they wouldn’t suspect anything.
