Colby

The smell of burnt food filled the house for at least an hour after Rain’s cooking attempt. I plugged in one of those air fresheners and it seemed to do the job.

No one was even shocked to smell the burning or hear Rain swearing from down in the kitchen. All of us, including Michael, were used to him setting random things on fire. I honestly don’t know how the hell he managed to set so many things on fire. It was a skill that no one should have.

But then I heard laughter and hushed voices. Lia and Rain were having a suitable time. Matt hadn’t spoken much about his date with Lia but he had a small smile on his face when he came in the other day.

I tried to ask him about it. Matt just huffed, going back inside his room. We all thought it would help him open and be more willing to accept that this was our life now. But Matt was even closed off than before!

Jesse was his roommate. Let Jesse deal with Matt and try to make some sense to him. Hell, if he had to do it then go ahead. The

Jesse“So… Jesse what are you and Lia planning to do today?” Rain asked me, leaning in the doorway with a curious grin on his face.“Coffee,” I said simply.Rain blinked. “Wait, that’s it? Just… coffee.”“Yes, Coffee.”Matt scoffed. “Rain you do know that coffee dates are a thing, right?”“Well, yes but that sounds super boring.“Maybe Jesse doesn’t find them boring.”I nodded. “I don’t find them boring. They are very simple and to the point. We can either sit there or have our coffee and go. What more could you want?”Rain paled. “I don’t know why you would want to go on such a date. It’s so boring but hey Jesse that’s up to you. Do what you feel like you need to do.”“I always do, Rain.”Everyone seemed so nervous. Matt was still in a state of denial and Rain had screwed up breakfast because of how nervous he was. But to be fair, Rain just didn’t have any cooking skills. He had the exact opposite of a cooking skill. My thoughts drifted to Colby who was on his way back from his outin

LiaIn the morning, I groaned, tempted to pull the covers over my eyes, but I realized that I needed to get to school. We were getting to the point where graduation was just around the corner. Hard to believe that I would be a high school graduate who would be going on to college. I was excited to study teaching in college because teaching was always something I had wanted to do.Instructing students and trying to get them to where they needed to be something I always wanted. This was just the next step in the plan I had worked out in my head. The one part of my plan that wasn’t something I expected was to be mated to the four guys who I used to call my torments.Even now I was still shocked, but the events of the weekend sent me reeling. What was I going do now that I had to see them after sharing moments with every single one? We all had an enjoyable time during our separate events, talking and just forging a new bond.My phone buzzed while I was in the middle of getting dressed. Si

MichaelI logged into the group chat, ready to say my peace. It was time to get it out there. The guys had a right to know what I was doing. There were going to be some pushbacks but so be it.This wasn’t even unexpected! I had been wanting to live with my mate for a while now. She was finally done with school so it made sense for the two of us to take the next step. Then we could make our bond official and become actual mates, registered with the state and everything.Michael: Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know I’m officially moving out next week.Rain: Wait, what? Moving out?Colby: Is this like a short trip, or are we talking permanently moving out?Michael: Permanent. I’m going to live with my mate full-time now. It’s time.Matt: …You’re serious?Jesse: Man, are you sure about this?Michael: Yes, 100%. You are all here for Lia now, so she’s set. You’ll handle things fine.Rain: I mean, we are here for Lia, but this was kind of sudden.Matt: You’ve been the buffer, man. Lia’

LiaI was mad at my brother. He knew it, I knew it, and the entire world knew it. Since he left a few days ago, I have been ignoring his text messages but finally, the guilt started to get me. One morning, about a week after he left, I decided to respond to one of his text messages. My brother just wanted to know how I was doing so I should do that for him.But god I was tempted to leave him on read or something. It was easier to ignore him than have any type of serious conversation. My brother was just doing what he thought he needed to do. However, I missed him. Why couldn’t he just stay here?My phone vibrated again, reminding me that I had to answer the text or at least swipe it off my screen sooner rather than later.Hey, how’s it going? MattLia went off to spend time with Simone. She drove off, leaving me with Rain. But the two of us were supposed to head to the college to practice.I kept thinking about my conversation and moment with Lia. My hand still tingled, something I was embarrassed to admit. Rain waved his hand in front of my face suddenly, making me jerk back.“Rain, what the hell?”“You dazed out,” Rain said, grinning sheepishly. “And we’re just sitting here in the driveway with the car running so I figured you’d want to hurry up and be on our way.”I sighed. “Yeah, I’m going.”The rain kept snickering in the seat beside me. I was tempted to slam hard on the breaks but that would make me pout and no one wanted a pouting Rain.“So how are you and Lia doing?”“I think you already know how the two of us are doing.”Rain blinked. “Well, I have an idea but I want to hear about it from you.”“We talked,” I told him, but then I realized this wasn’t going to have any effect other than making him want to keep pest

LiaSimone had warned me and she was right. I wished that I had heeded her warnings that day because now I was finding myself between a rock and a hard place. What was I going to do now that these guys, who were best friends all their lives, were fighting with one another? This was so stressful. The first person I reached out to was Simone. A part of me was tempted to reach out to my brother Michael. I knew he would set those guys straight but I also didn’t want to intrude on his happiness right now. He and his mate were trying to adjust to living together as well as being mates for good now.I couldn’t imagine when the four became my official mates. Flushing, it was going to be quite the experience but I had to put that out of my mind because it wasn’t going to be happening anytime soon. With a tired sigh, I grabbed my phone and sent a text to Simone. She didn’t take very long to respond much to my relief. Leave it to Simone to respond to me within seconds. I never had to wait long t

RainWhen I received a message from my family about pack dynamics, I knew I had to get serious. The first few months of being with your future mate are spent trying to figure out how to live together. Then came the coordination, aka finding a pack to join.Usually, the mates chose between one of the packs that they belonged to, but in rare cases such as ours, we could make our pack. It needed a minimum of five wolves, which we had. Or we could join whatever pack our families belonged to.I hadn’t spent much time thinking about it. My mind was mostly on trying to adjust to living with Lia and my boys. Then my hormones started taking over and I thought of the official mating ceremony where we would all exchange bite marks and blood with Lia.It was one of the most important nights of a wolf's life. Besides the coming-of-age ceremony and first hunt. Some traditions have changed as we move into modern times. For example, we didn’t have to live in dens and caves. Houses were preferred.Pack

Colby“As a member of the Iron Fang Pack, you need to make us proud. You must convince your future mate and the rest of the men to join the Iron Fangs.”I forced a smile on my face as the elders of the pack gazed upon me through the Zoom call. They were the type of pack that enjoyed traditions but also took advantage of technological advances. Sometimes, it felt a bit hypocritical about what things they chose to hold upon and the things they decided weren’t worth continuing. When I realized my friends and I were going to be Lia’s future mates, I tried not to think too much about our future pack dynamics. It was going to need to happen within six months so I wanted to just focus on bonding with Lia.But the Iron Fangs had a different idea. They had been reaching out to me to have a video call with them for weeks now. I tried to put it off for as long as I could, but I couldn’t ignore it any longer.“I’ll do my best.”One of the elders snarled. Her lip curled upwards, baring her fangs.

LiaI stretched out on the giant sectional, a blanket tangled around my legs, a cup of tea balanced dangerously on the armrest. Matt was flipping through channels with all the enthusiasm of someone on the verge of a nap, Colby was sprawled on the floor like a starfish, and Jesse was pretending to read a book but kept glancing up every few seconds.Rain, naturally, couldn’t sit still to save his life.It was a simple night at home with the babies happening ot be asleep. I didn’t mind a quiet night at home because a quiet night at home was normal. So much of my life hadn’t been like this. It had been chaos. So I relished in the normality of it all.Rain didn’t think so because he kept muttering about being bored, making a big show of it. Sometimes I think he was less behaved them our children!"Okay," Rain announced, popping up from the floor like a deranged meerkat. "I’m bored.""Congrats," Jesse said dryly, not looking up from his book."We’ve been home for, like, three hours," Matt m

LiaFive months passed quickly. Before I knew it, the twins were already rolling over and crawling around. They even shifted into wolf forms without warning, which were so fuzzy and cute! But being a parent at the same time was exhausting. My mates and I didn’t have a lot of extra time to spend together. A good portion of the time, we were just taking care of our kids. This time, however, things were a little different because we were going on a date night.Simone was planning something, and I wanted to tell her it wasn’t necessary. We were going to just go out and do something simple. All that mattered was as long as the five of us could be together. They hadn’t touched me in months—not since I had the babies. I was aching for their touch and wanted it so bad. It was just difficult to express it after having children. A part of me was almost embarrassed, wondering if they still found me attractive.I flopped onto Simone’s bed, groaning into her pillows. “I have no idea what I’m doing

RainI pressed my forehead against the nursery window, staring at the twins sleeping inside their little bassinets. Their tiny hands curled into fists, their soft breaths making their chests rise and fall. They were so small. So perfect. A lump caught in my throat out of nowhere, and to my horror, my eyes started to sting.Rowan and Gemma were finally here! It was about time.I didn’t know if either of them was biologically mine, or we honestly didn’t care to check right now. Eventually, we might, so we could find out for paperwork purposes, but until then, we were going to remain ignorant of their biological parents.Or biological fathers, I should say.Lia was their mother. The babies yawned, pumping their little fists in the air as they slept on and on.God, they were so cute. Too cute. How could something so cute even exist? It wasn’t like I hadn’t seen babies before. I had been around babies a lot, including some of my younger cousins and siblings. But this was different. These w

LiaI was a week overdue.Yes, a week.It didn’t seem real.My mates didn’t want to leave me, but they needed to go to work and do what they had to do. I didn’t want to prevent them from going to work or keeping the household functional.Besides, Simone was home and right next door. She was set to come over within thirty minutes and keep me company, so it wasn’t like I was going to be alone.Shifting on the couch, I glared at my swollen stomach.“Gemma, Rowan—you two need to get the hell out of here.”We were also having a boy and a girl. The five of us went to the doctor and got the results of the scan—we were having a girl and a boy. It felt good to know that we were having one of each.Perhaps one day we will have more of the same gender. But I wasn’t going to think of any more kids right now. The two kids we were having now were the only ones I wanted to think about. They were going to be enough of a handful for the five of us to handle.I rested my head against the back of the co

MattI sat on the edge of the stupid plastic chair, my head in my hands. How had this happened? We were acting like assholes and worrying for nothing. It seemed truly fitting that nothing ended up being wrong, and who was to blame? Well, all of us.I couldn’t even blame it on Rain for jumping to conclusions because we all were acting like it."False labor," I muttered, feeling like the biggest idiot on the planet. "We nearly broke land-speed records getting here for false labor."Or as they were technically called Braxton-Hicks contractions. When we were going to the classes with Lia, we just assumed that labor was going to be the finale. A few hours later we would be holding the twins in our arms.Except, we had been fooled by these false contractions. Lia seemed to be handling it well. I think I was the one who mostly felt like an idiot. What happened when she gave birth? I needed to make sure I had my wits about me and didn’t allow myself to get overwhelmed or worried.Rain patted

Colby A few months has passed since we learned Lia was pregnant and it was crazy how close we were getting to her giving birth. The Werewolf pregnancies didn’t last as long so she was in her six month, ready to give birth any day now. There was a set date the doctor had marked, but they could always come early.Or late. When the doctors said they came late she was very angry. She glared at every one of us.I was halfway through a sandwich when I heard Lia gasp from the couch.Rain shot up like he'd been electrocuted. "What was that?! Was that a contraction?! Was that a baby contraction?!"Lia winced, gripping the edge of the couch. "I don't know! Maybe? It hurts!"Matt practically fell off the armchair. "Define 'hurts'! Like normal hurts? Like stubbing your toe hurts? Or like—' call an ambulance' hurts?!"Rain was already pacing in wild circles. "Oh god. Oh god. We’re not ready. We’re not ready! We don’t have the bags packed, we don’t have a route to the hospital mapped out, we don’t

JesseLearning Lia was pregnant was amazing but also fucking scary. I never imagined myself as someone who would be a father. After the two of us were together, I knew it was bound to happen, but the fact of the matter is, I never thought I would be a parent.Sighing, I finished gathering the groceries and headed home. It was truly annoying to go about the day-to-day things you needed to live. I had gone for a run last time, realizing that we all had been missing out on this.It was a good run, but when I got home, I realized I had to get back to normal life. AKA getting groceries.Huffing, I pulled into the driveway and then took the bags to the front door. It was a bit of a balancing act, but I was able to do it.I pushed open the door with my shoulder, balancing a couple of grocery bags. "Lia? You home?"Silence. Then I heard it—the soft sounds of... something. Shuffling. Rustling. A thump.Frowning, I kicked my shoes off and followed the noise upstairs. "If you're hiding and plann

RainAfter learning Lia was pregnant, I became even more anxiety-ridden and neurotic. I was always like this, but when I was stressed, it was a hell of a lot worse.Right now, I was determined to make Lia’s life as uncomplicated as possible. I was doing my best and probably overreaching, but there was no stopping me now. Every part of me was determined to help Lia as much as I could. If I ended up acting crazy during this point, then so be it. I was willing to do it.I raced back into the living room, nearly slipping on the hardwood floor. "Lia! Where’s your water bottle? You need to stay hydrated!"She gave me a look over the mountain of pillows she was lounging on. "I drank it already."I froze. "You finished it?! That fast?! Oh my god, you’re dehydrated. You're going to shrivel up. I’ll get more—""Rain!" she snapped, cutting me off. "I’m fine! Sit down for five seconds before I throw this pillow at your face."I blinked, halfway to the kitchen. "But—""Sit. Down."I shuffled over

LiaMy mates knew I was pregnant now, but I also had to adjust to the fact that I was dealing with a pregnancy. There was a child or likely children in my belly. I kept saying that there were twins. I had no proof yet, but it felt like there was. It was just one of those feelings I had deep down, as strange as that sounded.Yawning, I was lying on the couch, trying to nap after having a difficult morning, throwing up a lot, when Simone burst into the room.I was still processing everything when Simone practically burst into the living room, wild-eyed and vibrating with energy."We have to plan a party!" she shrieked, already pulling out her phone like the planning was happening right now.My head started to hurt. I wondered if I should go for another run. When I was in my wolf form, I didn’t have so many morning sickness. Strange that when I shifted, the morning sickness was mostly there, but I suppose that made sense. Our human forms were technically weaker than our wolf ones. There
