MAGGIE'S POV

Evan was a hard target—he made it so hard for me to get him. However, that didn't stop me from plotting other things that I should do.

"Ma'am, do you need assistance with anything?" One of the guards asked.

"Are you sure that you don't have any plans of going somewhere? You sound like you want to get out of here." I looked at him sternly.

He knew I was right. He took some steps backwards and buried his head to the ground.

"Am I right or…"

"No ma'am, I'm sorry for making you think that. I just wanted to help out…" he explained.

That wasn't the problem right now. I just want to get my things done without being troubled.

"I would be expecting someone—just in case someone comes to the door, know that I'm expecting her." I had to inform him.

There was so much on my mind. My eyes wandered around the room like I was searching for something—maybe I was. I was searching for answers. My chest was tight with pain and anger, my head heavy with the thoughts of how I could get out of e

ANDERSON'S POVThe years I stayed away from my family felt like torment. After beating my brother to death, I felt I wouldn't be able to hold off the government and the private gang he was associated with. The best I could do for myself during that period was to fake my own death so I could let everything die down like it never happened. The whole purpose of that was to keep my wife and children safe. Five years later, and I couldn't hold that back anymore. I had to do something, or should I say make a call."Daddy?" My children were still not believing what they saw.Eliana still had an unsure expression on her face whenever she saw me."Hi, darling, how are you doing? I hope you had a good night's rest?" I squatted and cupped her cheeks, giving her balance to stand properly."I'm fine, Daddy…" she answered and smiled so broadly. It felt like she had something else to say but couldn't say it. I waited patiently for her to get the courage."Um... Daddy..."Yeah, that's the telltale si

ELEANOR'S POV"Anderson?" My heartbeat stopped. I couldn't think. My heart raced. I didn't know if I should be scared, happy, or sad."Why did you have to keep that from…" excitement didn't let me finish the sentence."Get the kids. Let's pick him up at the airport." I hurried to the room. The kids were with Sierra, having the best time of their lives. I didn't know how they were going to react seeing their father for the first time."Take a deep breath, Eleanor," Evan shouted from the sitting room."I'm trying…" I screamed back.Everything in me knew that I wasn't trying at all. I was just letting my emotions do the regulating."Which clothes am I going to put on? I need to put on the nicest thing ever." I searched my wardrobe like I was going to a contest."This! Yes, this is the perfect dress."It was a dress that had been given to me when I was pregnant. Anderson had made it specially for me.It would be a very good thing if I wore this.Within minutes I was ready, and I joined th

Evans POVI slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. My body felt heavy, weighed down by exhaustion. I tried to sit up, but a wave of fatigue washed over me, making my limbs feel like lead.I collapsed back onto the pillow, struggling to muster the energy to get out of bed. My mind was foggy, my thoughts disjointed. I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. As I finally managed to sit up, I swung my legs over the side of the bed and planted my feet firmly on the ground. I took a deep breath, willing myself to get moving, but my body seemed to be protesting every step of the way. I was so tired, I didn't know if I could even stand up.I paused at the edge of the bed. A faint smile crossed my lips as memories of the night before flooded my mind. It had been a night filled with bliss, laughter, and warmth. But the smile didn't linger for long. Reality quickly set in, and my thoughts turned to the looming responsibilities of the day. Work. The word ech

Tracy's POVTHE DREAMI felt my anger boiling over as I glared at Maggie. "You're always lying, Maggie! Every time you told me we were safe, every time you said we had a plan—it was all a lie, wasn't it?"My voice was shaking with rage, and I could feel tears streaming down my face. I didn't care. I was beyond reason."You've put us in danger, Maggie. You've put both of our children in danger. I don't even know if I can trust you anymore."Maggie's face was pale, but she tried to reason with me."Tracy, please, we can't fall apart now. We have to—"But I cut her off, my words spilling out in a venomous torrent."No, Maggie. You've had your chance to explain, to make things right. But it's too late for that now. You've ruined everything. You're going to get us killed."I felt a pang of fear as I looked at the mafia men closing in around us, but it was nothing compared to the anger and betrayal I felt toward Maggie. "I trusted you," I spat, my voice barely above a whisper. "And you've l

Maggie's POVTHE DREAMMy heart pounded like a relentless drumbeat in my chest.Just a few minutes ago, the atmosphere had been bearable, but now everything felt suffocating. It was strange because Tracy, who usually complained about everything, hadn't said a word. She wasn't groaning or giving me her usual signs of discomfort, though she still wore that dissatisfied look she'd had ever since realizing I wouldn't give up on these children. How had I become so stubborn about this? Yes, I knew these so-called mafia people might be involved in human trafficking, and the thought of handing over these young kids made my stomach turn. They hadn't even had the chance to see the beauty of life or explore the world.I would never let them take these children without a fight. I'd do everything in my power to ensure not even a scratch touched them.I caressed the arm of the little girl beside me, leaning down to kiss the top of her head.As we stepped into the bustling airport, Tracy adjusted he

SIERRA'S POVJoy at last, though it might not be the final battle, but at least I can say that most of them have been won. Seeing my best friend's happiness brought back was the best thing that could happen to me right now.I felt so proud of Evan right now. He made all of us happy again. I don't have to see the moody Eleanor anymore."Are we just going to sit there and watch him? Come on, Aunty is going to get you whatever you want."The house was fun to be in. At least we don't have Tracy around to do anything that will displease us."Aunt Sierra, where is Aunt Tracy? She's supposed to bathe us." Elaina was a very sharp girl, and I loved her for that. She had noticed that we no longer had a snitch among us. We just had to deal with things ourselves without thinking about her."She is no longer here with us, and if you see her anywhere on the road, make sure you run as fast as you can and never look back. Do not let her touch you or say anything to you," I warned the kids.Evan and E
