Zora’s heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t believe her husband had just used an Alpha command on her, despite everything they had been through. Her tears wet the ground for her to walk as she followed her mother-in-law to the pack house.
The memory of happy moments they had shared flooded her mind.
Ten years ago, Zora was found lifeless by Alpha Dane and his mother, Glenda, as they were returning from nightfall Pack. Dane was only nineteen at the time, they were coming from the Nightfall Pack as they went to express their gratitudes to Alpha who helped them to win a war.
They brought the unconscious girl home and nursed her back to health. The only thing she could remember was her name. It seemed her memory had been lost. Since then, Zora has lived with them, gradually becoming a part of their world.
She began assisting Dane with Alpha duties, and over time, they fell in love and they got married after 7 years of being with them.
When a smallpox outbreak swept through Silverpack, threatening the lives of many, it was Zora’s hidden knowledge of medicine that saved them. Her bravery and intelligence turned her into the pride of the pack despite being wolfless.
To Dane, she was everything: a healer, a leader, and the perfect woman. Marrying her wasn’t just a decision of the heart; it was destiny.
After their wedding, he would often boast wherever he went, he had the perfect Luna, his moonlight.
On the day of their second wedding anniversary, Luna Zora couldn’t believe her husband had fallen for the bond’s pull. She waited, her heart ached, she never thought something like this would happen to her and Dane wouldn't be there for her.
A knock jolted her from her thoughts.
Lavinda’s scent reached her before the door even opened. Her mother-in-law.
Glenda’s expression tightened as she stepped inside and saw Zora’s tear-streaked face.
“Don’t tell me you’ve been crying because of what happened today.”
“I’m not, Mother,” Zora sniffed, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
Glenda moved closer. She patted Zora’s back. “Don’t do this. Dane loves you. He would never leave you for that bitch.”
Glenda fingers lightly trailed the mark on Zora’s neck, a reminder that Dane had claimed and marked her. That no one could come between them.
The touch sent a shiver down Zora’s spine. The image of Dane and Alicia together struck her like a bolt of lightning. She couldn’t let that happen. The consequences would be unbearable.
A marked werewolf who cheats inflicts pain on their mate through the bond. If Dane touched Alicia, Zora would feel it. And suffer.
Her fingers brushed the mark on her neck. A flicker of hope rose within her, despite the anger and hatred boiling inside. He wouldn't hurt her.
“Dane would never cheat on me… he loves me,” she whispered. But doubt still clouded her heart.
“Mother,” she said, her voice trembling,
“Alpha Dane will reject her… right? He won't ruin my only chance of getting pregnant?”
Tears streamed down her face again.
“Of course, ” Glenda replied.
“He might already be on his way back. Mindlink him. We need to get the ritual materials ready.”
“I will be heading to my room, make sure you give him everything that won't make him think of his mate, I will be heading to my room,” Glenda said with a pleasant smile
Zora nodded, drawing in a shaky breath. She steeled herself and reached out to her husband through the mind link.
Zora began crying as she reached out to her husband through mind-link. The moment the connection opened, Alpha Dane instantly blocked her out.
“Dane, please…” she whispered through the fading link, desperately trying to reconnect.
It was clear he didn’t want to be disturbed, but Zora kept trying all the possible ways to get to him.
Her heart sank. She looked for her phone and dialled his number. It rang—but he didn’t answer.
Glenda watched with growing concern. She had always longed for Zora to be her daughter—not just a daughter-in-law. The only girl she ever had died when she was eight, and since Zora came into the picture, Glenda had cherished her like her own.
Marrying Dane was another blessing to her.
Unlike some mothers-in-law who looked down on women without noble lineage, Glenda never cared. She loved Zora deeply.
They had tried to conceive for years, but the Moon Goddess hadn’t blessed them with a child. After exhausting every option, they turned to a witch, who instructed them to complete a ritual that would last for three months. The final stage—the most important—was to take place on their second wedding anniversary night. The duo had been abstinence from sex for the last three months, this was the instructions from the witch. She wanted the sex organs to relax to be able to produce strong pup.
Watching Zora cry in helpless silence, Glenda’s heart ached. She began to worry silently.
If they failed to complete the final ritual, one of them would face the consequences, and more often than not, it was the female who bore the brunt. Zora wouldn't be able to conceive again.
By eleven o’clock, Alpha Dane was still nowhere to be found. Glenda's restlessness began to surface. Beads of sweat formed along her hairline, but she didn’t want Zora to notice her fear. If she broke down, who else would have console Zora.
She quietly excused herself and stepped into her room, quickly reaching for her phone.
The first call rang out—no answer. She dialled again.
This time, the system responded: You have been blacklisted. The sound from the system hit her like a wave. Her vision blurry, she looked at the number to see if she had made mistake.
It wasn't a mistake Dane intentionally blacklisted her.
Glenda stood frozen, staring at the ticking clock on the wall. They had only twenty minutes left for the ritual, her heart pounding in fear.
"Think, Glenda. Zora mustn't be a barren. Think.," she spoke loudly. Tears streaming down her eyes.
Then she snapped. The witch. The witch who was involved in the ritual. She wasn't present because the only thing they needed to do was simple, just intimacy.
Glenda thought she could cast a spell to bring him back—if it wasn't already too late.
She went back to Zora's room to inform her of the actions to take.
Zora’s Room
Zora sat on the edge of her bed, her mind reeling. What could her husband be doing that kept him away? She trusted him—she trusted that he would never cheat on her. If he had, she would have felt the pain of it. The mark he gave her would’ve made sure of that. He wouldn’t let her suffer.
But as she tried to gather her thoughts, a sudden, sharp pain coursed through her veins. She gasped, clutching her stomach, her mouth was agape.
Lyliana, her maid, rushed in, she quickly moved to her side and supported her from collapsing.
“My Luna, what is it? Do you need anything?” She asked tears screaming down her face.
She muttered, her voice shaking with disbelief, "Abomination..." Tears started to fall freely, streaking down her face as she moaned in pain. "Ha! Dane... Dane did it with another she-wolf…" Her voice rang through the room, loud enough to send a shock wave through the pack, causing the whole house to tremble.
Alpha Dane was having intimacy with his mate? Unbelievable!
Timika didn’t even blink.“It’s a healing potion. You wanted her strong, didn’t you?”“So you lied?”“This isn’t some snake oil,” she replied coolly. “With our kind, anything can be magic. If I give her water, don't expect it to be the common one you drink,”Trent’s jaw tightened. He knew Timika was playing him. He hated being outmaneuvered but for Zora’s sake, he swallowed his pride and said nothing more. The room fell into a tense silence as they waited for the potion to take effect.A quiet rumble broke through.Zora’s stomach growled.Trent stiffened, snapping out of his brooding thoughts. He remembered—neither of them had eaten at the summit yesterday. He checked his watch: 6:00 AM. Too early for the kitchens to be ready. She needed something or anything to hold her over.Without a word, he strode to the fridge, opened it, and scanned the contents. Fruits. He grabbed an apple, washed it under the tap, and placed it on a tray. But then he paused.Frowning, he turned back, took the
Zora froze. Her heartbeat thundered in her ears as if trying to drown out the truth she’d just heard. “What do you mean, ‘erased’?” Her voice was barely above a whisper, tight with disbelief.Timika didn’t answer immediately. The silence was enough.Zora, clutching her head as if she could reach inside and find the missing pieces herself. “That’s why I don’t remember my parents. My childhood. Why does everything feel… wrong?” Her chest rose and fell in rapid bursts. “Someone did this to me. On purpose.”She looked up, her eyes glassy. “So there’s nothing you can do? No spell to fix this? To bring it all back?”Timika’s gaze darted to Alpha Trrent, watching his reaction; what Zora had said was forbidden in his pack. No one even dared to speak the word magic aloud. But Trent didn’t react. No anger. No warning glare. Only tenderness in the way he watched Zora, as if she was the only truth he believed in.Timika exhaled slowly. “There’s always a way,” she said at last. “But the cost… and
“This is the last time you’ll mention the word ‘mate,’” he growled, eyes flashing red.“The Mate…” Zora whispered. The word echoed in her mind. She had heard it countless times while drifting in and out of consciousness, and each time, she’d felt Trent’s pain. She remembered how his voice would falter whenever someone mentioned it, how it wounded him in ways she hadn’t understood until now.Her eyes widened. The realization hit: what she thought had been a dream wasn’t a dream at all. It was real. Every word, every tear, every whispered confession from Alpha Trent—it had all been real. The cold, ruthless Alpha had cared for her. He truly cared. She had felt it, even when she couldn’t lift a finger. He cried when she was gone. He confessed his love, not knowing if she’d ever come back or hear him.Tears slid silently down her cheeks as her eyes locked with Alpha Trent’s.For almost ten years, she had merely existed after she was found by Dane's family. No one had ever cared for her lik
Zora blinked slowly, her vision adjusting to the dim light. Her body ached, and every breath felt like a weight on her chest; she had lied on her rib. She shifted slightly, and pain shot through her ribs.Trent jolted fully upright, still holding her hand. “Zora?” His voice cracked. Her gaze found his. “Alpha Trent?” She whispered, hoarse and confused.Emotion swelled in his chest, You’re awake,” he breathed, brushing her hair away from her face.“Thank the Goddess. This is a miracle.”Zora tried to sit up but winced in pain. “What… happened?”“We went to Alpha's summit, and we were attacked,” he said, his throat tight. “You took a blade meant for me.”Her brows pulled together as the memory tried to surface; she recalled how she stupidly thought the attacker wouldn't harm her and came in between the stake.“I'm sorry for not being able to protect you; nothing of the sort will ever happen again.”“Let me call the doctor,” he said and scurried outside.Zora watched as his back disappear
Alpha Trent was quiet as Graham’s words rang in his ears. “Maybe she was raised to ruin you.”No. He wouldn’t believe that. It couldn't be true. “Don’t ever say something like that again,” Alpha Trent said, facing Graham. Graham could see how serious he was and cleared his throat before nodding. “Sorry, Alpha. I should have known my place,” he said. Trent held onto Zora, who was still lying motionless on the bed. His mind was racing as he thought of the doctor’s words. Her DNA was unique, something they hadn’t seen before. Her mind was intact, which meant that she wasn’t seriously hurt upstairs. So why wasn’t she healing? Why were her wounds still fresh? This wasn’t something that the doctors could heal. It was something more. He had to find some answers, but at the same time, he didn’t want to leave Zora’s side. He didn’t trust anybody else to look after her. He didn't leave for a second, and the doctor had taken her blood sample. He wasn’t going to let that happen again. “Z
Graham heaved a heavy sigh. He never wanted their alpha like this, Zora needed to be saved at all cost, but alpha Trent not taking the mate stuff serious. He swallowed hard and said, “Alpha… look at her. She’s fading. You want to save her? Then let’s find her mate. You know what that bond can do how it can share pain, and strengthen healing. If she wants you, she can reject her mate. That’s her choice. But right now, we’re running out of time.”Trent’s voice dropped to a near whisper. “She doesn’t even have a wolf. How do I find her mate?”Graham frowned. “How do you know she doesn’t?”“My wolf tried to reach hers. There was nothing. No response.” he replied, staring at her. Graham startled, he was stunned that Trent had found his wolf and he didn't tell anyone. “Wait—your wolf? That’s new. Hasn’t he been… distant for years?”“He came back. But even he couldn’t reach her. And neither could Argon. Compass couldn’t locate anything either.”“That is great, development, you could have sh
