"This is pretty bad, rogue walking in your pack in broad daylight." Alpha Trent observed, surveying the situation.

"Only if I get need your help," Alpha Henry replied curtly.

"Fine, I'll help you, but not now. I have a lot on my plate," Trent said.

Alpha Henry started his own vehicle and followed. Through the earpiece, Trent's voice crackled: "It's unwise to put two cars on the road. Find a better place to park and get in with me."

"Do I have to fly to catch up with you after parking? You drive too fast," Henry responded.

"Fine. Tell me where you're parking, and I'll slow down."

"I should have parked before getting here. Slow down—anywhere you stop is safe." Trent could see Henry's car in his rearview mirror.

Alpha Trent gradually reduced his speed, allowing Henry to pass him. A grin escaped Henry's lips as he drove ahead, but Trent's face remained furrowed. Nothing seemed to amuse him.

Trent watched as Henry pulled into a garage and jogged over to his car.

"Seatbelt," Trent muttered a

Brandon suggested posting scouts in wolf form along the borders to give early warning. Trent agreed and added that they should set up a communication system so information could be relayed quickly."We also need to consider that Marcus might not come alone," Trent said. "He had at least twenty rogues with him when he ambushed me, probably more scattered around the area and we cannot rule out the possibility that there might still be someone helping him.""We can handle rogues," Brandon said confidently. "Our warriors are better trained.""Do not underestimate them," Trent warned. "Marcus chose those rogues carefully. They might not have formal training but they are vicious and willing to fight dirty."Brandon's expression grew serious. "Noted. What about Zora? Should we move her somewhere safer?""No," Trent said immediately. "She stays here where I can protect her. Besides, there is no way we are letting this battle go as far as Marcus coming to the pack house. We stop it before it r

His eyes traveled down to Trent's side where the fatal wound had been. There was no sign of it now, not even a scar. Just smooth skin, visible through the torn and blood-soaked shirt."How?" Brandon finally managed.Trent smiled, feeling more alive than he had in years. "My mate saved me."Brandon could not comprehend what he meant. "Your mate?""Yes," a smile played on Trent's lips as he turned to stare at Zora."She is your fated mate. That is impossible!" Brandon widened his eyes as his jaw dropped."I know. I do not know how the both of us missed this all these years, but she is truly my mate."Trent was beaming with a smile. Brandon's mouth opened and closed several times before he found words again. "But that is impossible. The doctor said there was no cure.""The doctor was wrong," Trent said simply. He glanced back at Zora, who was watching them with a mixture of amusement and residual fear in her eyes. "My mate is full of surprises."Brandon stared at him for another long mom

The moment Trent's wound sealed completely, something else shifted inside him. It was not just the poison leaving his system or his strength returning. This was deeper, more profound than physical healing. His wolf stirred deep within him. The barrier that had existed between him and his wolf, the one he thought was there because of the hybrid curse, dissolved completely. And with that connection restored came a revelation that stole the breath from his lungs. It was the mate bond, one that he never thought he would ever feel again. He could feel it now.He stared at Zora. There was deep confusion inside of him as his wolf growled.Mate! Mate!! Mate!!!"This is not possible!" He growled, staring at Zora with a newfound longing. All this time, he had no idea Zora was his mate.He had been with this woman under the same roof. No doubt he felt something. With Zora everything was different. He had never felt that way with anyone else.It was because of her. He had fought his vampire side.

Zora cut through her palm, the blood staring right at her as she pulled it closer to Trent."You need to drink from me," Zora tried to remain calm.Trent's eyes snapped open, suddenly more alert than they had been moments before. "What? No. Absolutely not.""It is the only way," Zora insisted. "My blood can heal you. I know it can.""Zora, you do not understand what you are asking," Trent said, his voice strained with pain and something else. Fear. "I have fought my vampire side for years. Fought every day to keep that curse from taking over. If I taste blood, your blood, I do not know what will happen.""You will heal," Zora said firmly. "That is what will happen."Trent shook his head weakly. "You do not know that. The hybrid curse, it makes wolves crave blood. I have seen what it does to alphas who give in to it. They become monsters. They lose themselves.""You are not going to lose yourself!" Zora said, reaching for his hand. "I trust you.""I do not trust myself," Trent admitted

Amidst the entire memory, she remembered what Kaelion had told her about herself. His words about her being a crescent wolf, about her blood having healing properties that could cure any sickness, extend life beyond its natural limits. He had said werewolves who mated with crescent wolves found their abilities enhanced. Her blood. Her blood could heal him! Her eyes widened at the realization. The door swung open and Doctor Martin rushed in, his medical bag clutched in his hands as he walked past Brandon and Claire to get to Trent's side."Move aside," he ordered, and Zora reluctantly stepped back to give him room to work. The doctor examined the wound, checking Trent's pulse and looking at his eyes. Finally, he reached for the knife still embedded in Trent's side and carefully pulled it out.Blood poured from the wound even faster now, soaking through the bandages the doctor tried to apply."The blade was coated in something," Doctor Martin muttered, bringing the knife close to his no

Trent did not hesitate. He shifted immediately, his clothes tearing away as his wolf form took over. The large black wolf that emerged was battle-ready, teeth bared and eyes blazing gold.Marcus shifted as well, and his pack of rogues followed suit. The forest exploded with the sounds of snarling and howling as the wolves surrounded Trent from all sides.Trent's driver tried to shift but one of the rogues was on him before he could complete the transformation. Trent heard the man's scream and his body hit the floor.Marcus circled him slowly, his brown wolf larger than most but still smaller than Trent. "I have been waiting for this moment. Waiting to see you bleed."Trent did not waste energy on words. He lunged forward, catching Marcus off guard with his immense speed. His jaws closed around Marcus's shoulder, tearing right through. Marcus growled in pain and pulled away, but not before Trent left deep gashes. The other wolves attacked as a pack. Trent fought like a demon, his claws
