I walked down beside him as the people at the party seemed scared that maybe the Alpha had forced them to be here.
But for my parents' safety, I had to keep calm as he walked me down the aisle, which scared me since my parents were the ones to be doing that, but I had no option. The moonlight shone on us to symbolize the Moon Goddess' blessings, but I could tell that this wasn't a blessing but a curse. His black eyes stared at me and at everyone. “Do you take me to be your Alpha in death and in the next afterlife?” he spoke, with all the elders fearing him. He had to head over the mating himself. I nodded while tears fell from my eyes. The pack poured black flower petals on me instead of clapping, none of them with a happy face. Since it was mourning my funeral, no one knew if I'd wake up tomorrow alive. "I, Alpha Kade, pronounce you as my Luna," he spoke, and those words twisted my intestines, nearly making me vomit. “Bring the cup,” he spoke, and one member walked towards us. He looked like he had peed in his pants a little due to the fear of standing in Kade’s presence. The cup was empty, which confused me, because normally it used to have moon flower, but instead he brought out his knife. “Bring your hand!” he commanded. Though scared, I had to oblige. He gave me a devilish smirk as he looked up to the sky, whispering some words only he could understand. I looked up at the sky, and creatures like vampires hovered around… oh no, this is a very bad omen. As he reached for my hands, I slid it back, but his dark eyes looked directly into my eyes… this time they met. He looked serious, still not understanding if he could see things as we could normally see them. He took my hands by force, slitting through my palms. I screamed in pain, but this didn't seem to bother him as he watched my blood flowing into the cup. When he thought he had enough of my blood, he cut a piece of his clothes and tied my palm. Then he did the same to himself, except deeper, that made me think he was going to collapse due to the blood flowing into the cup. Not closing his injury, he reached for the cup, whispered some ancient words, then brought the cup to me. “Drink,” he commanded, but I couldn't do that. “No!” I said, shocking everyone in the pack who looked at me in awe, but he stood there. The smirk came again. “I like people who act stubborn, but you don't have a choice here,” he spoke. But I resisted drinking it. Then he came and held me by the chin, his scent suffocating, and every time his eyes met mine, I had to close my eyes immediately. “I said drink,” he spoke, chugging an amount of blood into my mouth, and without knowing, I had started to take it in forcefully. He let me go only when he had confirmed that I swallowed, then drank the rest with so much ease. At this point, I couldn't tell whether he was an Alpha or a vampire. “I've never tasted a half-breed's blood before. It's true, like they said—it's pure,” he spoke, licking the remaining blood on his hands. With just two claps from him, all the men came out to drag me behind him to his chambers. Three days earlier… Memories of my perfect life before him flashed in my memory—just me, my mom, and dad living in our humble home, yet happy. All this changed when a war ensued in our village, leaving all of us at the mercy of the enemy. And that's when we all saw him—the Alpha. He was fast, cutting through the enemy within seconds. His aura was undeniable, and even though we didn't know his identity by then, we all watched in awe. Although covering his eyes, he moved like he could see everyone and everything on the way. When he was done, his blindfold fell down. I picked it up to look for him. But he had gone far, though I wasn't willing to give up. I followed his scent and found him washing himself in the stream, his body perfectly sculpted with a snake tattoo on his back and a black flower petal on his arm, still hiding his eyes from me. “You dropped this,” I spoke softly. “Drop it down there!” he commanded. “I… just… I just came to say thank you,” I hesitated. “Put it down and go back to the village,” he commanded, but I was stubborn and wanted to see the face of the man that saved us. I tried reaching out to him, but the road to the river was slippery and I fell into his hands. I saw his face, but his eyes were still closed. Still, he could do everything. He dropped me on the dry land, picked up his blindfold and returned it to his eyes, and wore his clothes, my eyes still focused on his chest, but he started walking away. “Wait, what's your name?” I yelled out. “You'll know soon,” he spoke, walking out on me, and I was left there, still crushing on a stranger I just met. I walked back to the camp, blushing at the memories of him. The next morning, the Alpha's men came and knocked at the door, and when I delayed, they kicked the door open, entering without permission. “Your daughter is immediately summoned by the Alpha,” the men said, looking at my confused and scared father who came out. “My daughter has nothing to do with the Alpha,” my poor dad said, his heart almost reaching his knees. “That's not for you to know. Your daughter is the chosen Luna of the Alpha, and we'll come and pick her up tomorrow,” they said, and I dropped everything I had held in my hands. “No!” I screamed as the guards looked at me with no emotions. “Any resistance would be paid with you and your parents' lives,” they spoke and walked out, leaving me and our unfixed door. I knew I couldn't hide anywhere from the Alpha, and my parents had nowhere to go since we were surrounded by vampires who wouldn't hesitate to kill, especially during night time. I cried my eyes out, my mother telling me all the feared stories of the Alpha. They both urged me to run, and I obliged. Packing my clothes, hoping the man from the last time would come and save me again. But walking out, I didn't know that the Alpha's men were everywhere, watching my every move, and I had also put my village at risk—to the one who had rescued us first. Present day… I reached the room, and it seemed like the men had delayed since I found him comfortable on the bed, sitting around as if waiting for someone. “Are you scared of me?”Night came while I was walking around, wondering. In my mind, what's next? was my only question. I made my way back to my parents' village where it all began.Something was off immediately I entered—the aura and the energy—all of them turned, got me suspicious. The same people we would play around with now kept their distance, hiding their children from my face just like we did the Alpha. No one wanted to even greet me. I couldn't tell whether it was just hate or resentment. My parents' house seemed abandoned, the grass outgrew the flowers, which was weird for a man that loves his flowers. The scent of death choked my nose with every step I took closer to the house. My heart sank. I immediately opened the door, waiting for my mom to run towards me the way she usually does. But the house was dead silent. I called to them, but no one answered. I rushed to their room but still nothing—apart from the torn curtains, nothing could bear witness to their presence.“They really loved you,” a s
I entered the room, everywhere looming of betrayal. Kade's eyes widened, his eyes partially black, his hands trembling around the envelope that he held so tightly. Kael's head bowed but left immediately I entered.Kade looked furious, opposite from the celebratory mood he was in… I swallowed hard, wanting to see what was in the envelope.“You called me?” I asked, my voice cracking.“Yes, I did, but I didn't call, I yelled,” he corrected me, throwing the envelope at my face, leaving it to hit the ground. I carefully picked it up.I opened the envelope carefully, only to see a piece of my robe inside the cloth, my red cloak also inside. I smiled out of relief, but his face wasn't buying anything.“You find it funny?” he asked me to squat just when I was seated.“What's funny again, Azren? You meeting up with another rival pack or you finding it funny I caught your betrayal?” he asked, and I blinked out of confusion. What was he talking about? Which betrayal is he referring to?“You plan
His hands slowly grabbed my waist possessively. The elder couldn't let out a single word—it was crystal clear who the boss was. My eyes and nose lingered through the air. If I can't see her, I could at least sniff her.The elder looked at me with disappointment, but who cares? I had just defeated the most feared one yet in the entire pack.Kade walked into the room, throwing me off onto the bed like a bag. My bones straightened up like they just waited for him. Just a sight of him could make me wet. But what if I get the pup? Wouldn't he get his share of the curse?I didn't get any time to process as my lips were shut down by warm lips—so warm I couldn't resist the taste of it. My hands on my head and his hands somewhere else.“Rough or slow?” he asked, but my brain seemed not to process his words, and he wasted no time in asking the questions again. Our bodies sparked and the bond flame ignited... he was my forced fated mate.“Alpha, there's an issue!” Damian called out, but Kade did
I saw the fear in her eyes. Her belly was showing, but not her fear. My wolf power surprised me—I couldn't see that clearly, the reddish view was all I could get. Is this how Kade views things? I asked myself. In a vengeful rage, I reached for Tasha and struck her out of her senses.“Can’t she see that the poor girl is pregnant?”“She’s jealous, she’s pregnant for the Alpha—something that she couldn’t do!”Rumors, as usual. I turned to look at the two old she-wolves who dared to talk about me. I could see them but also feel their emotions. Their thoughts overwhelmed mine—and then the rest.“Shut up!” I yelled, overwhelmed with thought. But they didn’t. They kept on going and going and going.“Why is she yelling?”“Was she never taught self-control?”“The cursed one can’t handle herself.”All the thoughts overcame my brain. I couldn’t stand it. I placed my hands over my ears, letting my guard down. Then—headache. The surge was too much. Tasha, on the other hand, looked happy. Her smirk
“She’s back.”“Traitor. She killed the Alpha.”“Maybe it was her revenge to get back at him.”Rumors. Everyone had something to say. The pack that Kade nearly died to protect now had different things to say about him.“Good riddance.”“We can all be free from the cursed one.”“How? When she has the curse too?”My restraint was being tested—mocked, insulted—by the same people who once watched and gave me away to the Alpha. Now they stood there calling me names. The house was silent. Too silent. But the noise coming from the throne room piqued my curiosity. For a house this still, why would there be noise in the throne room—especially when the Alpha was missing?I followed my instincts, and there I found the elders. Damian and Tasha were seated at the throne in all its glory. They were all shocked. But my ‘I told you so’ smile showed up before I could stop it.Damian looked like he had seen a ghost.“You’re supposed to be dead,” Damian said. I laughed—boldly.“Supposed to? Why are you s
“How and since when have you known about this?” I asked, keeping my voice low—low enough not to reach Kade's ears.“From the first time at the party. I raised Tasha, so I knew it wasn't her,” Kael replied. But why couldn’t Kade feel it?“Tasha was arrogant, yet not rude. Tasha didn’t like Kade—she saw him as a brother. So I knew something was wrong with her,” he said while removing spikes from Kade’s body.“I saw her reflection in the mirror, and I recognized her,” he added.“So you know Linda?” I gasped.“Yes. I helped her during the delivery of Kade,” he said. Not only did he know that she’s a witch, but also that she’s Kade’s mother. Did Kade know this information too?“No, he doesn’t know anything about this, and I’d prefer we don’t dive into that topic,” he said, as if he could read my mind.I nodded, but my mind had many questions that would be answered after millennia.“How can I defeat her?” I asked, getting back to reality.“You don’t. Use her weakness against her,” he sugges
