“How and since when have you known about this?” I asked, keeping my voice low—low enough not to reach Kade's ears.

“From the first time at the party. I raised Tasha, so I knew it wasn't her,” Kael replied. But why couldn’t Kade feel it?

“Tasha was arrogant, yet not rude. Tasha didn’t like Kade—she saw him as a brother. So I knew something was wrong with her,” he said while removing spikes from Kade’s body.

“I saw her reflection in the mirror, and I recognized her,” he added.

“So you know Linda?” I gasped.

“Yes. I helped her during the delivery of Kade,” he said. Not only did he know that she’s a witch, but also that she’s Kade’s mother. Did Kade know this information too?

“No, he doesn’t know anything about this, and I’d prefer we don’t dive into that topic,” he said, as if he could read my mind.

I nodded, but my mind had many questions that would be answered after millennia.

“How can I defeat her?” I asked, getting back to reality.

“You don’t. Use her weakness against her,” he sugges
