“Let’s do our best,” Chris whispered while we walked inside the building.
I turned behind us, and we were far between Tara and Clark.
Many people wore formal attire while holding expensive wine glasses. We walk among the rippling crowds.
“Besides the underground auction, what other event is going on tonight in this building, Chris?” I asked in a low voice as I anchored my hands on my friend’s arm.
“A birthday party, but obviously, it’s just a cover of the ongoing auction behind. As I said earlier, Clark and Tara will attend the party, and we will enter the bidding.”
Chris said as we walked continuously. Tara was against this because Chris chose me to be his partner at the auction. She even complained that Clark could go instead of me.
