Chapter #11

I looked at him one last time before heading out and I heard him saying to stop. My heart completely sink in my stomach but I didn't dare to look back at him or stop.

I fasten up my pace and saw a beautiful sign, and the names of bride groom written in to beautiful lettering outside of the venue.

As I step out onto the rooftop, I am immediately struck by the breathtaking view. The city skyline stretches out before me, with skyscrapers and buildings of all shapes and sizes. The sun is setting, casting a warm glow over everything and making the sky a beautiful shade of pink and orange.

The rooftop itself is beautifully decorated for the wedding. White chairs are arranged in neat rows, facing a small stage where the ceremony will take place. Flowers and greenery are everywhere, adding to the natural beauty of the space.

To one side, there is a bar set up, with bartenders mixing drinks and serving guests. On the other side, there is a buffet table laden with delicious food. The smell of the food wafts over to me, making my mouth water.

As I walk around, I can hear the sound of laughter and chatter as guests mingle and enjoy themselves. Everyone is dressed in their finest clothes, looking elegant and happy.

" Oh, I need to call Robin before Ed recognized me and what he is doing here in the first place? And why good always make me suffer.I think, problems interest in me." I thought.

And I pulled my phone out to call Robin but my phone begin blarring when I took out, glancing at the screen I find Robin was calling me. I picked up the call and we spoke both at the same time.

" I've got into a problem and I need your help." we both said the same thing to each other.

" What happened to you? Stassie don't tell me you did something crazy again."

" NO! I didn't do anything and what happened to you? Why you need my help? Did something happen to the cake?"

" I can't tell you on the phone and will you come here in the lobby and where you just disappear leaving me alone?"

" Okay, be right there. I am coming down." I said and hung up the call, in worrying.

I turned around and headed back towards the elevator, but quickly changed my mind. I was afraid of running into Ed again, which was the last thing I wanted. Instead, I decided to take the stairs, even though it was a long and tiring route for me. After taking a deep breath, I started descending.

Finally, I reached the ground floor, sweating profusely. I made my way to the lobby where I saw Robin surrounded by a group of men in suits and the receiptionest I met earlier. I approached her and asked, “What’s going on here?”

“Thank goodness you’re here,” she replied. “Can you please tell these fools that we’re here to deliver the wedding cake? They’re claiming that it’s already been delivered.”

“What? How is that possible? We have the cake in the van,” I said, confused.

Just then, the manager of the venue approached us, looking angry. “What’s going on here?” he demanded. “I told you, the cake has already been delivered. You need to leave now or I’ll call the police.”

Robin and I exchanged a worried look. We had no idea how this could have happened. We tried to explain to the manager that there must have been some mistake, but he wouldn’t listen. He continued to threaten us, telling us to leave the premises immediately.

We were at a loss for what to do. We knew we had the cake in the van, but the manager was adamant that it had already been delivered. And if I don't deliver this cake I would be homeless and probably lost my job and hope.

Robin and I tried to argue with the manager, but he wouldn’t listen to reason.

“Please, sir, there must be some mistake,” Robin pleaded. “We have the cake in the van. Can’t you just check?”

The manager expressed his frustration. “I can’t deal with this right now. The cake has already arrived. You must leave immediately or I will contact the authorities.”

He summoned security to escort us out of the building, and one of the guards approached me.

“I won’t tolerate any physical contact! I won’t leave until I’ve delivered this cake and received my payment!” I declared.

“Ma’am, please don’t make this difficult for yourself. Just cooperate with us.”

The guard advanced towards me, and I stopped him by saying, " Don't come closer to me. I'll kill you if you took another step closer"

" You’ll have to come with me,” he said, tightening his grip.

Panic set in as I realized the danger of the situation. I knew I had to act fast. Summoning all my strength, I twisted my arm out of his grasp and delivered a swift kick to his shin. He stumbled back, momentarily stunned by the sudden attack. But the second Guard seized my forearm. He disregarded my warning and began to drag me out of the lobby. I screamed at the top of my lungs.

“SOMEONE HELP ME! PLEASE, HELP ME!”

My cries caught the attention of everyone in the lobby, but none of them had the courage to intervene. Robin was also tackled, and I struggled to break free from the guard’s grasp, because he was too strong.

Suddenly, a deep, gravelly voice spoke up.

“What is happening here?”

The guard halted and the manager turned to see who had spoken. My eyes darted towards my rescuer, and when our gazes met, it felt like my soul left my body.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My mind went blank and my body felt numb. I tried to speak, but no words came out. My thoughts were jumbled and I couldn’t make sense of anything. It was like I was in a fog, unable to process the information that was being presented to me. My heart was racing and my hands were shaking. I felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. I was in shock, struggling to come to terms with the reality of the situation.
