“You too, Sophia,” Dad’s voice came.

I arched an eyebrow, curiosity creeping into me. What did he want to talk about with such seriousness?

Sophia and I shared a look. I laced our fingers and led her to the two-seater couch where Gregory and his daughter had been sitting earlier.

“Is something wrong, Dad?” I asked.

He stared at me without saying anything for a little while.

I started getting worried. “Dad?”

He sighed heavily. “It’s such a relief that you and Sophia found each other in the end. I would have died a guilty man had you married that vicious woman.”

“Dad, you don’t need to feel guilty. Everything worked out in the end–”

“No, son. I used to force that woman on you, not knowing she was of bad character. How could I have been so blind? I know I just wanted you to move on from your heartbreak, but I should have done a proper research about the man I called a friend and his daughter.”
