Chapter 2

Luciana's POV

The mention of his name causes my heartbeat to race. I can feel my lips open a bit, while staring at the God-like face of the Alpha's son, who will become the next Alpha King. 

“He's so handsome!”

“I hope I will be chosen to be his fated mate.”

“I just can't imagine how perfect our family will look like. He's handsome and I'm beautiful. We fit together!”

“Girl, stop dreaming. He's mine!”

“No, he is mine!”

And the fight started with the group of women not far from me. Majority of the women here are hoping that they will become the Alpha King's fated mate.

I was just silent in the corner, secretly admiring the beauty of the Alpha King. Never did I imagine that he's this handsome in a close-up look. I have never been able to come near him and also because of what I have. 

That thought made me sigh.

“Are you alright?” 

Aurora's voice woke me up from my deep thoughts. I didn't notice that I have already been thinking deeply. The Alpha King's presence really caught me off guard. His charismatic appeal couldn't be denied. I know women will definitely go crazy when seeing him.

“Y-Yes, I'm fine,” I stammered, and my friends became suspicious. 

Their gazes were telling me that I should admit whatever was in my head right now. But of course, I won't be telling anything. I just don't want them to learn that I admire the Alpha. It's so embarrassing for someone like me.

“We know you so well, Luciana. You're attracted to the Alpha, right?” Calista asked, while smirking. 

I blushed and said, “No, I'm not.” 

Along with that, I turned away, but that was the biggest mistake I ever made. Scarlet and her friends are standing in our direction. She's looking at me, full of disdain on her face.

“I'm warning you, Luciana. Your life will never be at peace if you mess up with my territory,” she warned. 

I furrowed my brows, meeting her gaze.

“I don't know where your anger comes from, Scarlet. You have everything in life already. You're famous in our school and all the girls are dying to become you, but why is it that you're wasting your precious time with me?” 

I just couldn't control myself anymore. She's been messing with me for how many times already. And until now, I still couldn't believe her reason for having time to mess with me. I'm not that even important.

Everyone hates me. They keep their distance from me, so why bother me now?

“You know that I really hate you circling. You don't smell so good and everyone knew that. Just don't try to come near my man. You stay here in the dark, do you understand?”

Great. I understand where her anger comes from. She's insecure with me.

“Your man?” I muttered, and continued, “I don't remember you having one at all.”

I crossed my arms, while telling her these words. Scarlet's face reddened. She's ready to raise her hands when an announcement echoes inside.

“Everyone, gather in the center now. We are about to start the ceremony, and so all of our new generations will find their mates tonight!”

Scarlet put her hand down. She smiled at me wickedly, her eyes filled with ridicule.

“You can't find your mate here, Luciana. Nobody will like you. You just have a face, but they would never associate with you because of your scent. Mark my words, if I saw you near the Alpha King, I will make your life horrible. Just watch it.”

After leaving those threatening words at me, she walked out with her friends. I just clenched my hands and watched her go back to her position earlier.

Scarlet is getting on my nerves, but I have to calm down. I just don't like a mess. My life is already in chaos and I don't want to put another one on hold. For now, I will just swallow all her ridicule if this is the way to avoid troubles.

“Just don't mind her, Lucy. I believe the Moon Goddess will give her something she will regret.” Aurora uttered, and I just smiled at her.

“Let's just enjoy this night and party with everyone!” Calista suggested. 

She even pulls me to join others, but I refuse.

“I'm fine here, Girls. Don't worry and look, your families are looking for both of you,” I replied, and my friends' worried faces met my eyes.

“We can't leave—”

I sighed, “I already mentioned that I will be fine. Don't worry about me. I will just enjoy being in the corner. After all, I don't smell bad because of our herbs.” 

“Are you sure?” Aurora asked.

I fake a smile and nodded my head. My friends left me even if it's against their will. They don't have a choice because their families are calling them. And again, I was left alone like I used to be. Well, I got used to it already.

I have been a loner before meeting them and this is not new to me.

But I was hoping that I could find my mate who will accept me with all his heart. I hope I can have a mate who won't embarrass me just like how everybody did to me.

Just hoping that he's around me. I can't wait to finally meet him and I have this feeling that I will be able to see him tonight, in this event.

At this moment, I focused my attention on the speaker, which is the current Alpha of our pack. As the moment passes by, I can feel my heart pounding so fast because I know that the search for our mates is about to begin.

My eyes locked onto the Alpha King, whose expression remained hidden. He doesn't smile the whole program, as if he's not enjoying what's happening around him. 

As the announcement ended and the search began, the visitors went wild as each of the new generations who turned twenty-one years old had finally found their mates. Scarlet is one of them, whose focus was towards the Alpha King. 

But she become anxious when she felt nothing. Scarlet didn't find her mate. She's not the Alpha King's mate because he finally found her and there's no one else, but me.

I am the Alpha King's chosen mate.
