Oh no! Are you alright, Rose?"
Zera gasped in shock, but she wanted to laugh.Witnessing this, Kalus rushed ahead to assist Lydia to rise from the ground, but she did not move.
Lydia cried, "Kalus, it hurts. Will you bear me?"
Her knees were numb from the fall.
I crossed my arms and scowled at the woman on the ground.
Lydia was such a hypocrite bitch prior to Kalus.
"Mpicu, Ms. Kol pushed me!"
Lydia cringed in Kalus's arms and gave me a threatening stare.
"Lydia, what did you say?" Kalus was amazed.
"Are you certain that you pushed me?" I grinned. I did not get angry. Instead, I was appreciating Lydia's acting.
"Why would I have fallen suddenly?" Lydia was so angry that her usually soft voice rose in pitch.
"That's not at all impossible. Anyway, you are so thin that a gust of wind can blow you away."
"How dare you insult me?"
Lydia was so angry that her face became red. "I clearly felt your hand pushing me from behind. Why are you not taking responsibility for it?"
"Ms. Osita, there are CCTV cameras everywhere, so don't blame me."
Suddenly, my bright and clear eyes turned dark. I looked menacing. "I can sue you for defamation once I get the evidence."
Kalus blinked in shock. He believed that I was completely different before.
I was no longer the dull, honest, and modest wife who stayed alone in an empty house.
Lydia obviously feared me and quickly sought Zera's help.
"Oh, it's all a misunderstanding!"
Zera glanced up at the surveillance camera looming over her head and smiled to defuse the tension. "Lydia must have slipped by mistake because she did not stand her ground. She must have collided with Amara and thought Amara had pushed her. It's all a misunderstanding!"
"Lydia, did you slip by yourself?" Kalus peered down and looked at the woman in his arms. His tone was cold.
"I thought she pushed me…"
Kalus frowned.
Lydia was upset and simply blamed me. "If she didn't move, I wouldn't have fallen! She obviously did it on purpose. My grandmother's bracelet, which is a Gold family heirloom, is now broken too. It would not be broken if it were not for her.". Ms. Kol, I realize that you are upset with the divorce, but you should not be upset with me. Am I the one responsible for you getting divorced?
"
Lydia wept once more.
She literally had an endless reservoir of tears.
"First of all, I'm not upset about the divorce. Far from it, I should like to thank you for setting me free from that hellhole. I don't have to sit waiting from dusk till dawn like a cast-off wife anymore." I jutted my chin up and retorted.
'Sit waiting from dusk until dawn?' Kalus was baffled.
"Secondly, if this bracelet is a family heirloom, you owe me thanks.".
I stepped across, took half the bracelet, and placed it in the light. "It's fake."
"What?!" Lydia and Zera were stunned.
"This bracelet has poisonous glue, and long-term exposure is dangerous for your health."
I casually threw the bracelet into the rubbish bin. My emerald-green jade bracelet on my wrist was the biggest mockery to Lydia.
"Mr. Mike, if you want to marry Ms. Osita, why don't you buy her some fine jewelry?"
"Amara!" Kalus glared furiously.
"I have a jade toad on my dresser at Tideview Manor that I think will fit you, Lydia. You can make it into a bracelet if you'd like." I wiped the dust from my hands as if the bracelet I had touched earlier was dusty.
Lydia's mind thought, 'A toad?! This bitch clearly is trying to insult me in a roundabout way!'
Lydia was furious. She tried to fight back, but I had already left.
Out in the parking lot of the hospital, I couldn't help but laugh loudly when I remembered Lydia's face.
"Amara!"
I turned around with an expression of disinterest when I heard the deep voice of Kalus.
The wind tousled a few of my dark strands of hair, adding some bit of mussiness to my perfect loveliness.
Kalus narrowed his eyes and moved towards me.
"Yes, Mr. Mike?"
I was expressionless. "If Ms. Osita remains obsessed with her bracelet, you can tell her that tomorrow I will deliver to her a cart of bracelets."
"When we were at the ward, you told Grandpa…"
"Oh, don't make a fuss. I simply did not want to upset Grandpa." I showed my eyes softening at uttering Joseph's name.
"We're even now."
I gazed stunned.
"You pretended to be someone else and went out of your way to marry me. I won't tell Grandpa or anyone else in the family about that." Kalus's expression was grave and threatening.
I widened my eyes with shock.
"But you have to explain to me why you married me under a false pretense. No, I should not say that."
Kalus walked towards me slowly. "Why did you pretend to be someone else to befriend Grandpa?"
My heart constricted, and I stepped back.
As a result, I forgot that there were some steps behind me. I lost my balance and fell backwards.
The next thing I knew, I had a warm hand on my waist as Kalus stood me up.
When our eyes met, I blushed, and Kalus's breathing was in disarray.
Until now, I still thought that Kalus was handsome. Everything about him fit my taste.
I remembered when I first saw these bright eyes. It was 13 years ago, and I was only 11 then. I got lost in the dark forest, and it was raining heavily.
Kalus once saved my life. Without him, I wouldn't be alive today.
Now, Kalus had broken my heart and hurt me so badly that I thought it was the worst thing that could ever happen to me.
Kalus pulled his arm back and held me up to a standing position.
"Thanks."
"Answer the question I just asked." Kalus was persistent.
"I am no longer your wife, and I have the right not to tell you."
I smiled coldly and turned my back. "If you told me we're even now, why go to the trouble? Even if I married you based on false assumptions, I haven't harmed you in the past three years, correct?"
Then Kalus suddenly grabbed my arm and told me seriously, "We haven't completed the divorce process so far, so you are still my wife by name. You owe it to me to tell me who you actually are!"
"I'm not telling you."
I panted for breath and had red eyes. "Mr. Mike, don't you think you're acting silly by bringing up the word obligations? You have never once honored your obligations as a husband in the last three years, and now you have the cheek to demand that I honor mine as a wife?"
"Amara, don't think I won't do anything to you!" Kalus shocked me by embracing me tightly. Our breathing became one.
Kalus was not a wrathful type, but this woman had kept him on his toes lately.
She certainly was capable!
"Then go investigate. Why question me?"
I struggled free with some effort from his grasp and left without looking back.
Kalus looked at the woman's beautiful back and remembered her bright red lips and those stilettos. His chest was tight.
He said to himself, 'Why did she dress like this? Was she dressing according to Frank Denz's liking? She's evil and a cheat. I really do not know what Grandpa's attraction to her is!'
"Mr. Mike, Ms. Osita told me that she has sprained her ankle. She requires you to accompany her." Ian came over, panting.
Suddenly, there was a thunderous rev of a sports car engine.
"Wow! That's the young madam!"
Kalus was shocked when he saw his ex-wife riding in a black supercar. She rode by him, so condescending.
She was cruising in a limited-edition supercar—a Bugatti La Voiture Noire, the cream of the crop in the automotive industry.
"OMG! Turns out that the young madam is a low-key tycoon!" Ian's eyes widened.
The eyes of Kalus darkened, and he curled his fists slowly."Follow her!
I glanced down and saw Kalus Mike's name on the phone screen."Mr. Mike," I said in a chill voice.Dean Denz scowled, rose from his chair, and overheard our conversation."Mr. Denz, I must talk to Amara. I have something to tell her." Kalus spoke softly, with an undertone of concern."Amara is not available at present.""When will she be available then?""For you, she's never available."I was always courteous and mannered. Yet, whenever I dissed, I went in with guns blazing.Dean fisted his hands eagerly and considered, 'Well said!'On the receiving end, Kalus took a personal offense. His expression was sullen."Since Amara has changed her number, that's a sign that she doesn't want you to call her. Even if you haven't finalized the divorce yet, you should leave her alone if you have the basics of manhood. Second, I already know what happened at the charity auction."The eyes of Kalus narrowed. His heart felt as though it was being strangulated with barbed wire.Dean flinched at the
"U… U…" Carrie's tears well up as she is choked."You only want to fight us. We do not like Amara, and hence you want to help her. Is that so that you can show you are different and correct?!!"Bethany's nice face was contorted then. "Stop trying so hard! Ryan can never love a crazy person like you!""Ms. Bethany! What are you doing?" Wilma came running and hugged Carrie, who was wailing uncontrollably. The rest of the Tideview Manor staff were long accustomed to such a scene, and none would ever stand in the way of Bethany.Wilma alone had the guts to confront Carrie since she had served Kalus Mike for the longest time and could not stand how Bethany would bully Carrie."Wilma, get out! None of your business!" Bethany was also angry with Wilma."I think you should leave!"While comforting the trembling Carrie, Wilma glared at Bethany and warned her, "If you go out of this door today, I will pretend that I saw nothing. Otherwise, I will tell Young Master Kalus Mike exactly how you bul
Once I had returned from the charity auction, I locked myself into the room and would not open it to anyone. It was not a normal occurrence.Frank and Dean came to the villa at night to visit their sister. Though I went down to receive them, I was tired and exhausted."Dera, I heard what had happened at the auction."Frank hurried over and grasped my sister's gauze-covered hand. He rubbed her hand back and forth several times with concern. "How is your injury? Did Steve treat you and re-dress the wound? Does it still hurt? Is there infection?I've learned medicine, so I can manage it myself. Steve has enough on his plate. I don't want to burden him with something so trivial." I withdrew my hand and grumbled."Steve is getting more unreliable! If we hadn't gone home and met Aunt Mila, we wouldn't have known about this! Why didn't you tell us that the Salvadors bullied you at the auction?"Dean's eyes were full of hatred. "I am going to serve Salvador Corporation with a summons tomorrow
ACE was Ryan's upscale club.Kalus Mike was gloomy at night, so for the first time ever, he invited Ryan out to have a drink. Ryan rode over to his place in person. After all, Kalus Mike had only gone out of his way to hang out with him a couple of times since they were little kids."Sometimes I want to be your mistress," Ryan whispered in Kalus Mike's ear. In public, he was an unyielding emperor, but before Kalus Mike, he was a nagging mistress."I've never felt this way with women but with you, I just feel so neglected. Meanwhile, I'll be at your beck and call. I always rush to join you as soon as you call me. See what a good friend I am! I'm so touched by myself!""Have you never been so attached to a woman?" Kalus Mike glared at him. "I think you're quite attached to Amara." "Well, she's the first because she's such a great woman. I just can't help it." Kalus Mike flicked his eyebrows. He shifted his thin lips and restrained himself from cursing him.Two beautiful girls walked b
Mike Kalus's piercing eyes narrowed, focusing on Lydia's pale face, as though a storm was brewing. He let go of Lydia's hand slowly.Lydia was like a drowning person who had just lost her life-saving raft. She ignored the wound on her wrist and embraced Kalus Mike's waist in a hurry. "No, Kalus Mike! Amara provoked me first! I really didn't disturb her! Carrie has long been sick in the head, so you can't believe her!Sick in the head? All Carrie has is a bad haircut. She had clearly explained to them what had happened between Amara and Lydia." Ryan sneered. However, he did not say anything too terrible for Kalus Mike's sake.Even a playboy like Ryan looked down on Lydia, but Kalus Mike considered that scheming bitch his treasure. It was as if he was under her spell."Amara didn't hurt you, did she?" Kalus Mike gasped. He was starting to sound strained. In front of Carrie, who was a witness, Lydia could no longer lie. She was coldly sweating."So, you lied about Amara?"Kalus Mike felt
"Wait!" Kalus Mike yelled out. After listening to what I had said, Kalus Mike felt a fury of no explanation in his chest. "Ms. Kol, do you not still owe me an apology?" he spoke slowly.Ryan uttered a disapproving huff. He wanted to pull off his socks and stick them in Kalus Mike's mouth.I felt a blunt pain in my heart. I turned back to him with no care.Kalus Mike had thought that my piercing and disillusioned expression had reached his very soul."It wasn't Annie! It wasn't Annie!"A soft and gentle voice had appeared in the nick of time, catching out those people who had ill in their hearts. My eyes widened when I saw in the direction of the sound."Carrie!"A girl wearing an ordinary white frock with a "cauliflower" hairdo and a fair and slender face was going towards them. This ridiculous cut was the handiwork of Bethany's "masterpiece."In the Salvador household, Bethany had always treated Carrie as her pretend adversary.Bethany hated the fact that her sister was more beautifu
I was not a pushover."Listen up. Lydia and I are sworn enemies from now on! If I fail to keep my word, I'll be smashed into bits like this bracelet." I gritted my teeth and opened my palm slowly.Kalus Mike was momentarily choked. He saw that my palms and the fragments of the jade bracelet were stained with blood. He realized that I liked to wear the bracelet. That is why I was holding it stubbornly in my hands even though it was broken. I probably did not even notice that my hand was injured.Kalus Mike had a turmoil of emotions within his heart. He gazed for a long time at my angry face. His eyes were dark, and a crack in his heart appeared to form."Ms. Kol! Your hands are bleeding!"Ryan shouted and rummaged through all his pockets to find a handkerchief or a tissue to use to bind my injury. But Ryan couldn't find any.Kalus Mike also had a handkerchief in his breast pocket. He closed his eyelids and clenched his fingers, but he found that he couldn't muster the courage to pull i
Zera pretended to be concerned and nervously asked, "Rose, what happened to your hand?""Rose, don't be afraid. Just tell us what happened. We won't let anyone bully you!" Bethany pretended to take justice for Lydia."I… I bumped into Ms. Kol in the bathroom…"Lydia faintly gasped in Kalus Mike's arms and resentfully looked at me. "I know Ms. Kol doesn't like me, so I made the first move to greet her and be nicer so that we can forget the past… But Ms. Kol wasn't receptive to my attempt. Somehow, we started quarreling."I crossed my arms, tilted my head to one side, and laughed.Mike Kalus raised his head and scowled when he saw my grinning face."When I attempted to make a break for it, Ms. Kol caught me and wouldn't release me… During a panic attack, I unintentionally yanked off her bracelet, which fell to the ground and broke. Ms. Kol was distressed that the bracelet broke and did not wish to hear my apology and thus…"Lydia stopped talking and left everybody to their own imaginati
I was a well-educated and refined young woman. I had been indulged by the Denz family, so these tactics were not required of me to have my way. Marriage and subsequent divorce from Kalus Mike provided me with all kinds of schemes swimming in my brain.I recalled how Kalus Mike's eyes fell apart when "The Flaming Heart" was walked onto the stage. At that moment, I felt like I went too far. I could have simply pretended not to see the necklace. Kalus Mike did not have to be publicly embarrassed to that extent by auctioning it.But I was petty and indignant. I wasn't indignant about the divorce. I resigned myself to my destiny, aware that the love for which I had been waiting for thirteen years was gone. I just seethed with anger because so bright a man as Kalus Mike couldn't see that the woman he loved was an evil woman."I've gone too far. I won't do this again."I ached and smiled bitterly. This was the last time I was ever going to side with Kalus Mike and Lydia's affair. The bathroo
