Harley’s P.O.V.

The term ‘deadlock’ didn't sit well with my anxious nature. I asked Carlos about the solution to this issue. He exhaled slowly, rubbing his thumb against the rim of his teacup as if the answer might appear there.

“I don’t know,” he finally said, his voice low and tired. “The situation isn’t as simple as it looks.”

My chest tightened. The silence that followed felt heavier than shouting ever could. I leaned forward, unable to keep the worry out of my voice.

“Then what do we do now? What are our options, Carlos?”

He stared at the steam rising from his cup for a long moment. Then he looked up, his expression sharpening with resolve.

“We have to find something in common,” he said. “Something both Grandpa and Alpha Demetri care about enough to make them stop. Once an official peace treaty is signed, the war ends. There will be no loopholes, no excuses.”

Hope flared briefly in my chest.

“Fear,” I said immediately. “That’s the biggest thing that controls everyone. Take them

Harley’s P.O.V.I had always thought strength meant clenched fists, sharp claws, and the ability to stand alone no matter how heavy the world became. That was how I was raised among the werewolves, where power was measured in muscle and dominance. You fought your own battles. You bled, healed, and moved on. Asking for help, especially from a witch, was whispered about like a shameful secret. Magic was for the weak, for those who couldn’t defend themselves. On the other hand, vampires were nothing like us. They lived on secrets and shadows, on mind games and rituals whispered in candlelight.Where werewolves trusted brute force, vampires trusted spells, contracts, and ancient magic older than any pack law. Calling a witch wasn’t a last resort for them; it was routine. And now here I was, sitting inside a salt circle like a fragile human, waiting for magic to decide my fate.I exhaled slowly, my palms resting against my knees as the cold grains of salt pressed into my skin. Candles sur

Harley’s P.O.V.The night market incident?Lycans attacked us there? The truth hit me like a slow, crushing wave. My chest tightened as the pieces finally aligned—the fire, the ambush, and the calculated chaos. The masked men who had tried to take my and my mate's life weren’t strangers or rogue attackers. They were my packmates. And that attack, the one I blamed on Henry, wasn’t random at all. It had been sanctioned by Alpha Demetri. My fingers curled into fists as realization burned through me. Lucian wasn’t completely wrong, but neither was Demetri. They had both let their personal vendettas rot into something monstrous, something that endangered everyone and not just themselves. Carlos seemed to reach the same conclusion at the same time. He straightened, his voice cutting through the tension with clarity and authority.“This rivalry is centuries old,” he said firmly. “And as leaders, you both failed your people and your family.”Lucian’s eyes narrowed, and Demetri stiffened as

Harley’s P.O.V.The lycan Alpha broke the suffocating silence first. His voice was rough, but beneath it lay something wounded and unhealed. “We had a strong friendship once, Lucian,” he said slowly. “So strong that no one could tear us apart. We trained together, we bled together, and we trusted each other with our lives.”What? Alpha Demetri and Grandpa Lucian were friends once?My world tilted on its axis as I stared between Lucian and the lycan Alpha as if seeing them for the first time. My mind refused to accept what my eyes clearly showed: recognition, history, and something deep and painful passing between them. They knew each other, not as enemies but as friends. How was that even possible? We all gawked at them in a catatonic stupor, expecting some sort of explanation from them.Alpha Demetri’s gaze softened, filled with a tinge of regret as he proceeded with his former statement. “But look at us now, Lucian. You are still chained to the past, treating me like your sworn e

Harley’s P.O.V.The car had barely settled after the sudden stop when Conrad’s voice broke the uneasy silence.“There’s a massive log placed right in the middle of the road,” he said, peering through the windshield. “It’s not a problem. I’ll get down and move it.”Before he could unbuckle his seatbelt, Carlos leaned forward sharply. “Wait!”Conrad paused and looked back at him as Carlos continued, his eyes narrowing. His tone was low, edged with suspicion. “Why would there be a log here? There wasn’t any storm today. No strong winds. Nothing.”A cold shiver ran down my spine. Carlos and I looked at each other and spoke at once.“It’s a trap.”Carlos exhaled slowly, already reaching for the door. “Conrad, we go together. Let's check the surroundings first. It's our safest bet.”Then he turned to me, his gaze softening despite the tension burning in his eyes. “Harley, stay inside the car. Lock the doors. Don’t open them for anyone.I’ll be right back.”I nodded quickly, fear knotting

Harley’s P.O.V. Everyone froze at once. My heart dropped to my stomach as I turned toward the entrance slowly. Lucian stood there, his presence overwhelming, his aura raging like a storm barely held in check. His eyes burned crimson with fury, veins standing out on his temples as if restraint itself pained him. The flickering torchlight cast sharp shadows across his face, making him look less like a noble elder and more like a wrathful god descending to pass judgment. Before I could even process his arrival, Carlos reacted on instinct. He pulled me sharply behind him, his arm wrapping around my shoulders, his body shielding mine completely. I could feel his muscles tense, his wolf and vampire sides bristling in warning. However, Lucian didn’t even spare us a glance. His burning gaze was locked onto Freya.“What do you think you are doing here, Freya?” He thundered furiously. “Leaving your chamber? Disgracing the sacred widow traditions by being out here?”Freya stood still, her bac
