Audrey’s POV

No one seems to show concern or feel afraid.

“Let's go, this place is not safe” Derek whispered. We turned and hurriedly left.

*****

The pen slipped again from my hand.

Not because I was tired. Not because it was late. But because my hand wouldn’t stop shaking.

I stared at the writing from the journal, it's like she never had enough time to explain what she meant, my mother's handwriting looked back at me, crooked, hurried, and leaking into the corners.

Now they are watching me.

I saw the mark again, this time near the river. He warned me it would follow her bloodline. But I didn’t think they’d come for her this soon.

Her.

Me.

I pushed the journal away, too hard and fast. It knocked over my cup of pens, and they scattered across the desk like a dozen useless weapons.

goddamnit! She knew…. She knew.

She didn’t just die.

She was hunted.

I stood, pacing because sitting felt like suffocating. The room was too quiet. The air was heavy again, same as the Veil. Like it was watc

Audrey’s POVI read the note again like it was going to grow new words.. But it didn’t. It just sat in my hand, smug and silent. You’re already his.It wasn’t Derek’s handwriting. This was too neat. Not Caleb’s either. He wrote in all caps like he was yelling even on paper. Adrian? Maybe. He was always good at hiding things in plain sight. But what if it wasn’t any of them? What if there was someone else?I left my room and head back to Lucy's house. The silence in Lucy’s room felt too loud. Her grandma had passed out again, lips parted like she wanted to say something else but couldn’t. That sentence still stuck like a thorn in my spine: “He marked you long before the others. Look deeper.”Look where? Into the past I couldn’t remember? My heart was still racing. After stuffing the paper into my pocket, I went back to see the elderly woman, but her chest was slowly rising and falling steadily, as if she was unconscious again. Would she even recall what she had said if she woke up

Audrey’s POVI couldn't even recall exiting the vehicle. The gravel beneath my feet seemed strange and overly loud, and my legs were trembling. The image of Caleb sagging forward in the passenger seat with one hand clasped over his side as if pressure alone could stop whatever was leaking out kept coming back to me. He had half-closed eyes. His jaw was so clinched that I was afraid his teeth might break. No one spoke. Not even Derek. And now we were back at the Beaumont house again. I hated it here. I hated how familiar it was starting to feel.“Get him inside,” I said before anyone else could pretend to be in charge. “I’ll help him.”I didn't even consider it. Despite Caleb's weight and the heat of his skin on mine, I took hold of his other arm and slung it over my shoulder. Derek remained silent, but he followed us through the door, up the stairs, and into that dumb living room with the broken lamp that no one ever fixed.“Couch,” I snapped. “Drop him there.” Despite his si

AUDREY’S POVI jolted upright, lungs clawing for air.I was not dreaming, It was not some slow awakening. I felt like my chest was crushed and my throat ached. Sweat covered my entire body. I knew something wasn't right the moment I glanced at my arm. It was obvious that I was changing to what I don't really know.My veins weren’t blue anymore. They were lit just beneath the surface and gold flickered, like if something was trying to squirm out of me. My pulse quickened and my mouth went dry. I couldn’t breathe and I couldn’t move.I touched the glow with my hand, it was warm, not fever-warm and not sunlight-warm. It was warmer than skin should ever be.Then I heard a loud sound from the he bathroom as if It's dripping water. The windowpane is scraped by the wind and someone two houses down was coughing. I covered my ears trying to avoid the noise. But it didn’t help.“Stop. Stop. STOP—” I shouted. The door slammed open and Caleb stormed in,. His hair was a mess and he was not

  • Claimed by Three Alphas, Fated to One   Chapter 13 I Don’t Want to Be Chosen

Audrey’s POVBy lunch, my head already felt like it’d been put through a blender.Adrian hadn’t come home last night. Or, if he did, he had been silent all this while. The silver blade I had hidden beneath my pillow was gone when I awoke up. Not lost…. Just gone. I ripped through the closet, tossed the blankets, and yanked the mattress, but it was simply... gone. I didn't ask around or say anything to Lucy when we first met before class. I didn't have to. I was aware of who took it. And now, of all people, Caleb was slipping into the lunch chair next to me as if this were a pointless teenage drama rather than the beginning of a serious mental breakdown. With my eyes focused on my unfinished sandwich, I mumbled, "Go away."“I can’t,” he said. “Not if you’re gonna walk into this blindly.”“Walk into what? I said go away.” His tray hit the table with a soft clack. Chicken nuggets and chocolate milk. “You’re not ready to know everything,” he said, low voice, not even trying to a

Adrian’s POV I poured the coffee into Audrey's favorite mug, the one with the cartoon fox and chipped handle and carried it to the table. She hardly looked up.Her gaze stayed locked on the empty space above her forearm, but when her eyes flicked to mine, I offered a quiet, impossible smile.Nothing moved. No scar and no bruise. The silver blade had punched through flesh. It should have left something behind, maybe a dent of pain, at least. But nothing. Just smooth skin. Perfect, and wrong. My heart panged at her expression which it was disgusted, revulsed, sick and I hated myself for how thrilled I was when she flinched.“I’m late,” I said, voice even. She remained silent. As if she was listening to something I couldn't hear as she bent her head. “Your coffee’s—” I tried again, but she interrupted.“I thought you were the one inside the body,” she said flatly. “Not the host.” That should’ve stung. But it didn't. I took a drink of my coffee and nodded as though we were discussing
