*TW: Battle with gunfire, wolves, wounds and everything that goes with it*
They were all still staring in complete disbelief at the sight on the stage. Ember was slightly bent over, still attached to the nearly melted body of Balor. It was confusing that the male was burnt beyond recognition but their clothes and even the twine holding them together was still intact.
“Reinforcements incoming!” Sebastian linked a moment before he felt a heavy hand on his shoulder.
What the fuck?
Turning around he found his father standing beside him, his eyes taking in everything within the compound. Why was his father here? He had been against retrieving Ember from the start.
“Sitrep?” He linked him as if he had not shown up unexpectedly. He might have scented him if it wasn’t for the cloying scent of burnt skin and hair burning his nostrils,
Ember*TW: detailed description of dead body and the attack in the background*When Balor fell silent and she felt no more movement coming from him, she hesitated. Is he dead? She listened closely in the complete silence that surrounded her and there was no breathing or pulse coming from him. Alright, she expected Nova to help her die; she did not expect to kill someone. She was torn between freaking out because she killed someone and feeling an overwhelming feeling of relief that she had escaped his tyranny over her life. She had ended the darkness that had threatened to consume her whole life. But she was still tied to him and she was still blind, which meant she was still very much helpless.Ember startled when she suddenly heard a gunshot ringing out, followed by a cacophony of even more shots. She was tied to a dead man and she needed to get out of the line of fire, but for that she needed to see.&
Nova*TW: Description of a person burning alive and, you know the battle*The smell wafting out from Balor was sickening and it was disturbing to watch. It was like he was burning alive, but there were no visible flames. There was the flicker of air around him like the heat around a burning fire and the heat coming off them was uncomfortable.Bile was rising up in her throat and she was forced to step away and empty her stomach from the little food she’d just had at the end of the stage. No one even seemed to notice her stepping away from the couple and throwing up her food. What a waste of a good half-assed meal! She’d given Princess Ember her last remaining survival snacks to give her a fighting chance, since Balor never bought a lot of food if he wasn’t living in the house. And since he’d shown up unexpectedly and decided to starve Princess Ember as punishment, there wasn’t a
Ash*TW: Still kind of bloody and war like*While he was snarling in pain while digging out the bullet, he could hear the gunshots and screaming of orders and pain slow down. He was grateful that they had had the backup eventually; otherwise this would have been a much longer fight. He wasn’t sure what had convinced them to come or how they knew where they were, but he didn’t really care at this very moment. He left the wound once he’d dug out the poisonous bullet, breathing a sigh of relief. He would still need treatment, but the sooner the poison is taken out the faster his recovery would be. He did not expect his father to suddenly appear at his side and check on him, while he took up the gun the informant had given him. That was when he took a second look at the pistol and he smirked. He knew who the informant was now. But he would not give his secret away; there was a reason
Alpha AnsonHe watched the young wolf carry his little girl away, longing to hold her in his arms to assure himself that she was safe. But he knew better than to attempt that after what they had been through, having his own mate now had given him a deeper perspective of what they had to be going through.Just being away from his mate during this battle felt like his world was not right; he couldn’t imagine the pain and suffering they had gone through while they had been separated. Of course, the women had been intent on joining them in the battle, but they had all insisted that they could check for magic but would not go into battle at all. After they had checked for magic, they would be going back to the palace to help arrange the victims that would be brought back to the palace hospital. Prince Cornelius would be handling the influx of prisoners and arranging their questioning and housing. He was sure the palace dungeons would be
AshWhen the medic asked to see his wound, he first glanced to Ember. “Do you have any serious wounds, Em-Baby?”“I’m OK; I’d just like to see again.” She answered in a small voice, her face still hidden in his neck while she took deep breathes of his scent, like she had been drowning and he was her air.He supposed she had had it harder than he had, since she had marked him just before they had been separated. And though she was still acclimating to life as a shifter, she was probably still feeling the effects of their separation. So he searched their bond for any concerning pain. When he was sure that she had nothing that needed immediate care, he moved her slightly to the side, so the medic could start a saline IV to flush the poisons out of his system. It took her a moment to realize that he was being cared for.“You’re hurt?” She asked in surprise and con
Alpha Denzel*TW: This chapter depicts the findings in the compound, read at your own discretion.*When they saw the state of some of the prisoners, and how badly the princess had been tortured, he decided the young wolves didn’t need to see what they would uncover in detail. So he pulled King Richard aside and requested leave to send the young warriors, who had planned and started the attack with the young leadership, back to the palace.King Richard agreed, knowing that they had already seen too much and they didn’t want to endanger the younger generation more than they already had. After all, they hadn’t breached the labs yet and they had no idea what was waiting for them there. It could be rigged to become a bio-weapon when they breached it and it was always safest to keep the younger generation safe until they were taking over the lead of the pack.So they sent the younger generation back to
EmberShe was in and out of sleep while she clung to Ash, unwilling to let him go and fearful that if she did, she would somehow be taken from him again. They were in the hospital and she had been given a bed, but she insisted on staying in Ash’s lap, thankfully he didn’t seem annoyed with her for needing him so close. For the first time since she had been kidnapped, she felt like some part of her wasn’t missing anymore. Finally, the doctor entered and apologized for being late, since he had been arranging everything for the influx of victims from the compound. Apparently, there were so many victims that they had to prioritize the sickest. They had had to expand the hospital into nearby guest rooms, since they were not prepared for that many patients. The thought of how many victims Balor had had was terrifying.“Is there any way I can help?” She offered in a small voice, feeling like she came off
AshHe’d spent the night with Ember in the hospital; they had shared the bed, since she would have nightmares whenever he was not touching her. But also neither of them could even consider stepping away from each other for any significant amount of time. It felt like he was tearing himself apart if he stepped away for too long, even more if she had a nightmare when he did so.The next morning his father linked him that they were having a debriefing in the war room after breakfast. “Alpha, it’s physically impossible for me to leave Ember.”“That’s to be expected, but she should probably be there as well, considering she’s the future Luna and needs to be brought into decision making.” His father answered calmly.OK, so he guessed they were both doing a debriefing after breakfast.Amazingly, Ember was already healing very well, so the doctor gave his permis
