Claudius's POV I looked up when I heard two knocks on the door before it slowly opened and Dominic cautiously peeked in. "I hope you don't mind, I let myself in. I didn't think I would hear you." Dominic said as he entered with a tray of food, and I smiled at him. He set the tray on my lap as I sat with my back against the headboard. He turned and then sat down at the foot of the bed. He looked around the room briefly before looking at me again. "So, how do you know the Alpha?" He asked and I felt a tightening in my chest. I assumed he knew who I was to the Alpha since the Beta knew. It seems Colton is the only person who knows then. "I-I'm from the Midnight Moon Pack," I said, hoping that was enough. "Oh, Noah's pack! Yeah, that little shit was a good fighter! He whooped my ass!" Dominic said then laughed. I chuckled as I brought the spoon to my mouth and took a bite of soup. I was thankful it was soup. I was afraid anything heavier might make me throw up. I hummed and smil
Claudius's POV I forgave Colton, or I should say I believe him. He explained I wasn't the person the Alpha was talking about that day. I don't know, maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. But when I look into Colton's eyes, I can see nothing but honesty. I think whatever he's telling me, he believes it's the truth. Whether the Alpha is telling him the truth or not, I'm not sure. Between Colton and Dominic, It seems as though I might have some new friends. I learned Dominic is not the original third in command. His older brother was. His brother was killed during the attack, so Dominic had to step up and take his place. That's why he's younger than the Alpha and Beta. I also learned the Alpha's age. Alpha Hughes is 31, Colton is 29, and Dominic is 25. And here I am, the youngest of the bunch, turning 20 in 2 months. Dominic is biracial. His mother is black, and his father is white. And thankfully, both are alive. I have to admit, he's an extremely attractive man. He has beautiful light
Claudius's POV "Are you sure you're strong enough?" "Yes, I desperately need to stretch my legs." "Okay, hang on," I said to Niko as I stood behind a tree just a little ways inside the tree line. I quickly pulled my clothes off and tucked them close to the tree before feeling Niko take over as he came forward. I hissed as the shift went a little slower than normal. "I'm sorry! I didn't realize my weakness would slow down my shift." Niko said. I could feel how guilty he felt, and I hated it. "Don't apologize! You have nothing to be sorry for! I can take a little pain. I'm fine!" "I know, I just, I didn't realize it would take that long to shift. I wouldn't have asked if I would have kn-" "No! I don't care how long it takes, if you ever want to shift, please don't be afraid to ask. I promise I can take it. I can endure a little pain, so you can run free, and be a wolf... Now come on. Run free and feel the wind against your fur." I said, smiling at my wolf who I love with all m
Claudius's POV After filling my plate, I turned around to find a seat, and once again, the dining room was full. Every spot was taken except for that little table in the far left corner. I let out a sigh before I began walking past everyone, forcing myself not to look at the chair next to the Alpha. After I sit down, I glance around the room and my eyes land on his. Once again he has that soft sad look on his face. I look away and begin eating. I was pleasantly surprised that my appetite seems to be coming back. I was almost able to finish my plate and smiled as I passed it to the Omega in the kitchen. Throughout the following week, every time I was in the dining room, I received the same look. Instead of the cold hard stare, I was met with a soft expression. I began looking forward to eating in the dining room. Every time I looked his way, he would look at me. Several times I saw a faint smile and I couldn't help but blush and smile back. Yes, going to the dining room has def
Third Person's POV "If you'll excuse us, I need to speak with my Beta alone. I'll meet you later in the backyard for cocktails." Alpha Hughes said to his mother and father. He gave one last glance to Natalie before turning and walking toward his office, with his Beta right behind him. Alpha Hughes held the door open as Colton stormed past him. Hughes closed the door and locked it before turning around. As soon as he turned around his head jerked to the side, and he stood there for a moment before slowly reaching up and holding his face as he turned to look at his Beta, who just punched him... Again. "That's the second time you punched me out of anger. Do it again and I will break your fucking fist!" Alpha Hughes said after rotating his jaw. "You fucking bastard! How can you do this to him? When did you become so cold and heartless?" "It's not what you think Colton! Damn it! I didn't want this! They're so fucking persistent!" Hughes said as he walked around his desk and sat down.
Third Person's POV Colton was furious as he left Alpha Hughes' office. He stood in the hall for a moment, trying to get control of his anger until he remembered Claudius. All anger was gone and replaced with concern as he raced down the hall, and up the stairs. He knocked on the door and after not getting a response he twisted the handle. He slowly opened the door, when he heard the sound of Claudius crying he quickly followed the sound into the bathroom. As he entered the bathroom, his heart broke when he found Claudius laying on the ground crying. The scent of blood filled his nose and his eyes land on the bloody hand towel, clenched in Claudius's hand. "Oh Claudius," Colton said as he scooped Claudius off the ground and carried him into his bedroom. He sat on the bed, holding a very broken Claudius who gripped his shirt with his good hand, as he cried. "I'm so sorry, Claudius!" Colton said as he rocked Claudius, running his fingers through his hair, trying to calm him down.
Third Person's POV Alpha Hughes sat there at his desk listening to Dominic read off the report on training and patrols. But for some reason, Hughes just couldn't focus on what he was saying. All Hughes could think about was the tears in his mate's eyes. The blood on his hand from the glass. The betrayal, that was almost palpable, and the way his lip trembled. Hughes abruptly stood up, and Dominic stopped talking, confused at the anger that flashed across the Alpha's face. Dominic watched Hughes walk over to the cabinet. He pulled a glass and a bottle of rum out, then began pouring himself a glass. Dominic sat there confused as Hughes downed a glass, before pouring himself another. He downed the second glass as he walked back to his desk, with the bottle in his hand. "I'm sorry, continue." Alpha Hughes said as he poured himself another glass. Dominic raised an eyebrow. "Is everything okay?" "No!" "Are you finally going to tell me what's going on?" Dominic said, sitting b
Claudius's POV I closed my eyes and pressed my face into Colton's neck, gripping him tighter as he held me. I couldn't see it, I just couldn't do it. I couldn't look at his door, the hall, or anything to do with the Alpha's floor. As soon as Colton stepped into the hall, I could smell the Alpha. Even though he wasn't there, his scent lingered. Or maybe it was seeping out through the door from his room. "Hang on, we're almost there," Colton said, and a moment later I heard a door open, and the scent of Colton invaded my nose even stronger, washing away any lingering scent of the Alpha. I opened my eyes and turned my head to look around as he sat me on my feet. His place is nice! It has a rustic feel. Dark wood throughout his apartment, dark brown leather couches, and a large dark wood kitchen table. It's a open floor plan, with the kitchen on the back left, and the dining room in front of it, off to the left. On the right side, from the entrance, all the way back to the sliding gla
