MasukAutumn laid her bike over on the side of the dirt road. Cautiously but without hesitation, she went to help.
Calling from a safe distance. “Hello, are you okay?” She asked. But concern and curiosity pushed her forward as she walked to the edge of the field of tall grass, making her way to the base of a small hill. Her shadow fell over what looked like a man's body, with his bulging muscles lying there. His skin was smooth and hairless, covered in what seemed like burn marks or thin stripes, almost like a tiger's. His hair was disheveled, semi-long, yet faintly wavy, jet-black; his features were sharply chiseled.
Autumn was shocked as she looked closer and had to remind herself to breathe. It was unsettling to find someone lying there, naked. She tried to stay calm and check if the man was alive. Please, please let him be okay, she thought. She leaned over and pressed two trembling fingers to his neck, searching for a pulse. His skin was hot, but relief washed over her when she found he was alive. But why was he in this state? Her eyes cascaded over his long nude body. In examining him, she felt both fear and fascination. What little remaining light was fading quickly behind the weird clouds, making it difficult for her to see.
A sudden flash of bright light lit up the sky as she looked up. There was no thunder or noise, only light, which vanished as quickly as it appeared. Autumn looked back at the body and noticed fresh burns glistening in the dim light. Deep scratches and bruises covered his back, but there was no blood. His bruised, but long, muscular legs looked strong and solid. He smelled of burned flesh mixed with a woodsy, outdoor scent.
He had visible gashes on his arms and even worse ones on his shoulder blade, wrist, and hands. It was obvious he had been through more than a minor fight. What stood out as kind of strange to Autumn was that none of his wounds were bleeding. He couldn't have been here long, since the injuries were fresh, and as bad as they looked, they weren't fatal. She gently moved his shoulder, trying to turn him onto his back, focusing on his face. The skin on his face was different from the rest of his body. There were no white stripes; he looked human.
“What am I saying? He is human,” she thought.
There were a few bruises on his face; her curiosity shifted, and as she looked down his body, she was shocked again. She gasped before she could stop herself. He was completely nude. Her first thought was, where are his clothes? Why is he completely naked? Then the man began to shiver and tremble, letting out painful-sounding grunts.
"Are you cold? Are you in pain?" Autumn took off her sweater and draped it over her body. But he continued to shake uncontrollably.
'What do I do?' She was concerned that he might die. So she followed her instincts and covered his body with her warm body by embracing him. Eventually, he stopped shivering as her warm face pressed against his.
Autumn slowly rose off the stranger. "I need to call for help." But as she studied him more closely, she wondered which city or country he traveled from. She had never seen anyone quite like him before. He looked very young, maybe in his early twenties. Even with his injuries, he was breathtakingly beautiful. His face and body were striking, exceptional.
Who was he? What had happened to him?
Maybe he was attacked, robbed, and left out here to become buzzard food. Autumn tried to reason it out, and the more she thought about it, the more it seemed possible. These kinds of things had been common, and more and more people were being dumped in rural areas like Mahdfel. Men from all backgrounds who have left their families looking for work have lately been coming to Autumn and her aunt Rose for help with their wounds and to share stories about what had happened to them.
As Autumn kept looking him over, she noticed that, even with the strange, burned marks, there was no blood oozing from them. The man’s skin was smooth like porcelain, even though he’s probably been on this road for who knows how long. His face had pouty lips, a sharp nose, and long, dark eyelashes. His raven hair spread out on the grass around his head like a halo, and when Autumn touched it, it felt like fine silk. He was more handsome than any man she's ever seen, but still had a masculine edge. He was a striking mix of masculinity and beauty.
What was his name? How had he ended up like this?
Autumn's curiosity grew as she stared at the beautiful, broken stranger in silence. She wanted to know his story; everyone has one. Standing up, she took out her cell phone to call for help.

Ten minutes later, Aunt Rose arrived in an old pickup truck, a vehicle the people of Mahdfel had given her for emergencies like this. She brought Mr. Platoon, the town's Sheriff, to help, since Autumn had said the injured person was male. Sheriff Platoon is a tall, big guy. He grabbed the stretcher and tried to lift the stranger by himself, but he couldn't do it alone. It took all three of them to get the muscular man onto the cot.
"Boy, he's a fit one. He seemed to have gotten it pretty bad." Sheriff Platoon says, "Sorry about that, ladies, but I'm usually able to lift them practically by myself."
Autumn had already taken off her long maxi sweater and used it to cover the boy as best she could. She put her bike and groceries in the back of the truck and sat beside him. When they got home and carried him upstairs, it took all of them again to get him into one of the vacant beds.
"Autumn, while I get the food and supplies out the back of the truck, you get the boy cleaned up first, and I'll come back later to examine him to see what herbs we are going to need to administer to his wounds."
"Okay, I will. Also, thank you, Sheriff, for your assistance," Autumn replied.
"No problem, Autumn. Any time. Glad to be of service to you and your auntie. It's a blessing to have you two here in Mahdfel helping out folks during these perilous times."
Sheriff Platoon stood in the room. Autumn noticed him staring at the man, so she stepped in front of the bed to block his view so he couldn't see the strange markings, just in case he hadn't seen them already. She didn't want anyone talking about or questioning the man's differences or saying weird stuff like he wasn’t from these parts. Where else could he be from? Another planet? That's ridiculous, it almost made her laugh.
“Well, once again, thank you, Sheriff Platoon, but I'd better get him cleaned up, as my Aunt Rose instructed.”
“Yeah, no problem. I’ll check back in a few days. Hopefully, he’ll be conscious then.”
When she heard the door close, Autumn turned back; now it was just her and the stranger in the room. She looked again at the pale stripes. Where are you from? Autumn wondered. She reached out to touch the stripes, and they began to give off heat in response. She quickly pulled her fingers away. The strange man raised many questions in her mind, mainly about why he was in this condition.
Autumn stared at him. He was beautiful. But then something happened right before her eyes.
They've been home for weeks now, and their hair was still pink until one day they felt their first raindrops in months. For months, all they had was dew to nourish and wet the grounds. But not today, as they rushed to the shelter as the rain came pouring down fiercely. Their hair turned back to its original color. It didn't take long for the weather to change into a full-blown thunderstorm.Autumn looks out the window. “You think it's going to stop soon?”Bastion stood behind her, looking out the window as well, “it's already late evening, even if it does stop, it will be dark.” Bastion looked at Autumn, who had become his companion, and it brought them comfort, support, and happiness. The storm didn't let up; it reminded them both of being on that ship during one of the most horrific storms ever! The only good thing about now was that they were on solid ground. Things got much cooler as the wind whipped through the trees. They gathered together closely as the wind whistled through th
The next morning, it hadn't dawned yet outside. Autumn began to stir at the sound of the birds whistling in the colorful bamboo garden. She hadn't opened her eyes, but she could feel the warm air causing the fine hairs on her neck to rise. Her drowsy eyes and unclear mind tried to wake up more fully. Then she heard a sound very close behind her say, “mmmm...”'Then I felt Bastion's arms take hold of me from behind, pulling my body to his body. He had his shirt off, and I could feel his bare chest pressing against my back. I slowly moved my head back a little to see his face. My heart began beating so fast as I quickly glanced at him. I grabbed hold of my chest, blushing once more as I looked into his face, turning back around,d giggling at the thought of me actually being this close to his body. But then, to my surprise, Bastion buries his face into the crook of my neck and hair.'Autumn lay there and let herself enjoy being wrapped close to his nude body. It was her first time in thi
He began to smile as he watched her face in fascination. Autumn could feel his eyes on her, but she gazed up at the silver ribbons of moonlight that reflected in this most wondrous part of the garden.Bastion sat there watching her sway from side to side like a beautiful midnight butterfly. Her voice and dance mesmerized him. Her hair twirled, swirled, spinning in the open air under the colorful lights. His feelings stirred in him as if she were like a sprite that came from out of nowhere and would vanish at any moment. It was strange; the effect she had on his body was ever stronger. All his senses focused on the sight of her and the high, sweet sound of her ability to sing. There was no music that Bastion could hear, only the sound of her graceful leaps in harmony with the tune she sang. His thoughts drifted as she glided through the night air like a gentle butterfly. The strength of his reaction to her alarmed and electrified him. Especially when she took flight, gracefully and eff
Autumn took hold of Bastion's hand, pulling him into the colorful bamboo trees with her. They had walked miles away from their shelter that evening. The colorful bamboo trees seemed to form a tall gate, covering a sacred place in this astonishing garden-like park. The colorful trees were bound together with strong vines, making the bamboo look like a sturdy wall! You could clearly feel it was a place protected from harm, preventing any evil forces from entering. But Bastion and Autumn were easily able to slide in between the trees. Immediately when they entered, their eyes widened! They could see this place was sacred! There were beautiful, bright colors like lights reflecting off the trees all around them."Wow! This is gorgeous!" Autumn says aloud, truly amazed."Shhh...quiet!" Bastion whispers, all nervous, looking around with his eyes as his feet freeze in place.“This is holy ground we are standing on.” Autumn snickers at Bastion's large, expressive eyes, filled with fear. But
For weeks now, Bastion and Autumn have stayed busy planting and harvesting in this beautiful garden. It was time to begin preparing for the cool rainy season ahead. They would get up early and sometimes be away from the shelter all day, working. For the most part, they were happy together, with neither the guidance nor the restrictions of society. There were emotional and physical changes that were clearly emerging as they reached young adulthood and fell in love. The experience was a little stressful for them because of their lack of true experience in human sexuality. Bastion wondered how he should proceed to offer her true love? And when should it take place? Of course, he wanted things to happen naturally, but they were still earning so much more from one another with so much more to discover. They spent their evenings after a long day of work by the refreshing waterfall. It felt like their own little oasis. Swimming, relaxing, and enjoying warm evenings talking about all sorts o
The next morning, for the first time, Autumn awakened first! Daylight hadn't quite broken through the clouds above. She hadn't slept this peacefully in months. Months before she departed on the ship with her aunt and Bastion, rest didn't come easily, knowing she would have to leave her family. Then, after surviving the end of all ends, she discovers her dear aunt didn't make it. Weeks of being hungry and barely eating, sleeping on the bare ground in the same clothes for weeks. Some nights, no rest was found out in the thunder and rain, but most nights, you were smothered in the tropical heat. But since Bastion has brought her to this gorgeous environment, it feels like she is starting a new life—filled with nothing but happiness. 'Happy' isn't even close to the word to describe how she felt. She climbed out of her bed, twisting her hair up into a bun. Autumn looked through the tall gift basket Bastion gave her, filled with lace, silk, and satin robes, and all types of underwear and b
Questions swarmed Bastion’s mind. The girl—cowering, trembling—wasn’t the Autumn he thought he knew. Pity twisted in his chest at the fear in her eyes. Wide. Round. Too human.Too much like him. How could she be so different, yet so similar? She was exquisite. Dainty. Exotic. Armor or offering? A
Bastion paced the cramped shuttle, each step echoing the rising urgency in his chest. Autumn. The name danced like a flame in his mind. He had to take her with him. He wouldn’t return home alone. The thought made his heart race.Weeks slipped by. His mission morphed, transformed into something dee
Later that evening, the house grew quiet as everyone went to bed. Bastion lay awake, thinking about his mission and the person who had given him clear instructions. This was 2.0 for Earth's people. Meaning this wasn't the first time they had faced consequences for their disobedience and ruination o
For as long as Autumn could remember, Aunt Rose was never the affectionate type. The day Autumn moved in with her and Uncle Ray, Rose's world turned upside down. She took Autumn in, not out of kindness, but because she had no other choice. Autumn believed Rose disliked her because she was a constant
