6. INQUIRY

Author's POV:

The moment he stepped onto the rough surface of stones a scream hit his ears as he felt like his heart rate had accelerated including the heat.

He knew whose scream was that as he in a swift reached there to make his eyes widened. She was on the table screaming as he was taken aback when she jumped on him clinging to his body. He felt the heat intensifying between them as he was still trying to understand the situation when Kaz appeared. She got scared of that rat and the thing that annoyed him was the teasing gaze of Kaz.

If she was so sensitive then why she was serving the Queen?

He got annoyed by the tears too as he knew they were fake but they felt real.

Seeing the smirk adoring Kaz’s face he knew that he had realised she was his mate and that's why he was acting strange.

They were childhood friends as that gave him the audacity to talk to him like that but he also knew how to deal with that.

When Kaz left he turned around towards that girl named Rapunzal as the thing that she wasn't paying attention to him but to the rat irked his nerves.

She would not be able to concentrate on his words so he threw her over his shoulder like a rag and she weighs nothing to him. She was fragile and delicate and the fact that he could tell from afar where she was her fragrance. She smelled so nice to him that his nerves got soothed when his nostrils hit with her addicted scent.

He took her towards his room as he didn't take her towards the Queen's room. He wanted privacy and he also wanted to make sure she was his mate or it was the heat erupted from the lust he felt after seeing her.

He entered the room and threw her on the couch as she couldn't see anything first because of all the hairs sprawled all over her face. She shook her head to unblock her vision as her hands were grabbing the cushions on her either sides.

After removing his cardigan he placed it on the table. He turned over to grab the chair and sit in front of her so that they could talk in the most civil manner. At least civil for her as he had never inquired a woman. They were tricksters and he didn't have time for that.

"Now tell me where is the Queen?" He sat in front of her as she was looking so fragile and her white dress was also loose making her shivering visible. She glanced over his room licking her lips that were dry. She hadn't eaten anything since morning as her head felt dizzy.

She was contemplating what to answer as that grey eyed man was directly looking at her and she couldn't even do anything. She wasn't even physically strong as all she had to do was something using her mind.

"Look woman..." She gasped loudly when he grabbed her jaw as her lips pucker out. "..I don't have time for this. Tell me where is she?" A lone tears escaped her mouth as her heart was beating erratically and the heat she felt in her chest was making her more uncomfortable.

"...I...I don't know." She answered as her words came out muffled due to his harsh steel like grip around her jaw.

"I wanted to do it civilly as I thought I would give an exception to you since you are my mate but you are a woman, a trickster."  He left her with a jerk as he stood up to grab a knife placed behind him on his cardigan.

Mate?

She couldn't understand that as mate meant friend or companion but they were far from that. She also couldn't ask about him at that time as he was looking furious close to killing her.

He sat down again as a smirk was adoring his face. He grabbed her wrist with his eyes scanning all over her face. She was looking at the knife and then at him with blank expressions as soon her mind registered hat he was doing to him when the edge of the knife touched her wrists. Her face turned from black to a scared kitten when he pressed the edge not enough to draw out blood but enough for her to feel the pain.

"...Please...no..." She gasped as her breathings were heavy and she couldn't remove her hand from his hold as it was a steel grip although it was looking like he was holding her hand softly from afar.

"Where is the Queen?" He asked again forcing on each and every word while clenching his jaw not because of anger because he never inquired anyone with anger and rage. To make people spill out he had to just touch their blood and feel what was going in their head. It was one of his powers but the heat he was feeling close to him was making him anxious and restless.

His eyes roamed over her face and then her body. Her face was perfectly shaped as she wasn't too skinny. Her cheeks were flustered, turning pink along with her ears. The lips that were constantly opening and closing like a fish were attracting his attention again and again. Her dress was loose as he couldn't see the curves of her body but the view of her collarbone prominent was making him to see her further possessions.

"...I-I don't kno....no..." She screamed when he applied force and her blood drew out of her wrist. It was a minimal amount of blood but her eyes widened seeing her wrists.

"...Leave me...." She was scared and was in pain when she threw the cushion directly at his face but he didn't even flinch a little. Only the few flicks that were perfectly styled backwards came forward to cover his forehead while touching his eyebrows.

"I-I...sorrry." She put her palm of the other hand against her lips to cover her face as he took a deep breath. She felt that before he was less angry and but he was beyond from getting angry. He was flaring in anger.

"You trickster." He took a sharp breath through his teeth as he applied force on her wrist to make more blood ooze out of her veins.

Tears were constantly rolling down her face as he grazed his thumb over her blood to feel something.

"Look at me." He demanded as she listened to him. He rolled over his thumb looking directly at her hazel eyes as he couldn't see anything. His eyebrows furrowed as he rolled his thumb again but still couldn't feel or see anything.

"F**K." He mumbled to himself as he was looking at her wrist when she collapsed on the couch. She fainted as he left her wrist running his hands in his raven hairs.

Leaving her there he exited the room to move towards their conference room. They had held a meeting with advisors as they had to start the war with everyone's collaboration.

He entered the room as everyone stood up from their seats to bow at him. Kaz was sitting on his right side while General was sitting on his left.

"Done dealing with your mate." Kaz whispered near his ear as he just glared at him before sharing a knowing smile with Conner sitting beside him. Obviously he had told him.

Zackarya shook his head as his mind was still occupied by the fact he couldn't see what was going in the mind of his mate.

"So what do you say?" General asked as Zackarya shook his head. They just decided to talk to the people of the Fated Kingdom so that they could ask them to corporate with them in this war.

"I would do that." Zackarya announced as he was the king. People would listen to him more.

"You should have a Queen too. People of Fated Kingdom give more respect to the Queen. A Queen who is generous and kind." One of the people advisor said as the other one spoke.

"Don't they have a mate for that?" He asked as Kaz and Conner shared a look and then looked at Zackarya who perfectly ignored them.

"We would take care of that too. Dismissed." He asked as everyone left except the Kaz and Conner.

"Found the Queen?" Conner asked wiggling his eyebrows as only two things could happen when Zackarya Hall inquired someone. Either they die or they spill out everything.

But in this case the first case would not happen because she was his mate. He couldn't kill her and sit here all healthy. When a mate is killed after you have experienced a heat by remaining close to her you feel the slight pain too. Zackarya was just looking out of place but he wasn't in pain.

"No. I am giving her time." He stated looking at the maps.

"Meant you failed." Conner said shaking his head in fake disappointment. They weren't curious in killing the Queen as she was of no threat to them but still they have to find her before the General make her escape. They were playing the game and they were also enjoying except Zackarya.

"I think the time of a lifetime would be enough. You should marry your mate and people will respect her because she is also from the Fated Kingdom." Kaz reasoned out with serious expressions as Zackarya finally looked at them.

"She is a human." He forced on the word human as if he was more disappointed by that.

"Well the King of Dark Spades found out his mate after eighty years and she turned out to be human. Ironic." Conner took a long sigh as Kaz straightened up as if something came up to his mind.

"We checked the records of the creatures of this town. Apparently people kill the witches, vampires and other creatures or they made them live far away from them. If you bring a human Queen then we can change that." Kaz said with eyes zoned out thinking about the future scenarios as Zackarya just focused on his words.
