Lucy POV

"Morning, Nonna." I smiled at the crazy old lady.

"You made quite a spectacle last night."

She mumbled something else under her breath, but I didn't care to hear.

"Well, your little Mikie was an asshole. He deserved it." I shot back at her, pouring a cup of coffee.

"You need to learn how to handle your personal affairs behind closed doors. Luckily, Michael salvaged the mess you made." She continued kneading her bread and my jaw dropped.

My mess!

"My boys will be here tomorrow for lunch, and you'd better hope they don't get the upper hand." She gave me a cold glare.

Sweet old lady my ass!

"Your boys are tyrants and should be shot. That's one death I would applaud Michael for." I narrowed my eyes at her. Her grandsons were despicable men. Not even men, true monsters, vile and downright disgusting.

"That was always the plan, child. Taking down three grown men while remaining on top isn't an easy task, even for someone as smart as my Michael." She tsk'd me, then went back to

  • Consumed by the Mafia   Ch. 134 - When the Storm Is You

Lucy POVI had spent the last year haunted by the things I'd done.Haunted by the blood on my hands. By the weight of Vito's last breath choking the air in my lungs. He had it coming, I know he did, but that never made it easier to sleep.I thought time would fade the burn. That distance would be a cure. I enrolled in college. I bought pretty mugs and organized my bookshelves. I made playlists that didn't sound like war. I kissed Jared when I needed to feel normal, and I smiled for Amy because she deserved to believe I was okay. But nothing could prepare me for seeing Michael again. Within a split second, everything I buried clawed its way back to the surface. One jagged edge at a time.He looked like stone. Like vengeance and grief molded into flesh. All hard lines and hollow rage. But behind the fury, behind the gun he almost didn't lower, he was still him.And somehow, still, everything in me ached for him.The man. The monster. The memory.I should've run the moment he raised th

Amy POV"That didn't go anything like I planned," I said, watching my brother stomp down the church steps like a storm in a suit."I think it went better than expected," Uncle Niko shrugged, his hand tightly clasped in Aunt Viv's. He looked entirely too smug for someone who nearly got his head blown off."You deserved to be shot," I muttered, wrapping my arms around his other one. "But I'm glad he didn't kill you.""Michael wouldn't hurt me." He said it like it was fact, not hope. "Let's get to bed. We can fix this tomorrow."Fix this tomorrow? I love my Uncle, but he can be incredibly stupid when it comes to human emotions. Michael had nothing but death in his eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if he just started walking to the airport from this church."Uncle Niko, he just pulled a gun on half the room and put a chokehold on Jared. He's not sleeping anything off. He's packing a bag... or making a hit list."Lucy lingered near the altar, fingers playing with the chain around her neck. She

Michael POVSmoke curled from the barrel, bitter and silent, as the echo of the shot settled into the stone walls around me.I didn't hesitate. Not even a second. My rage had been sitting in my chest for a year, like a second heartbeat pounding, waiting, begging for release. So when that bastard stepped out of the shadows, I did what I had to do. And I didn't regret it.He deserved to die. No! He deserved to be tortured for such a betrayal. I could see the blood spewing from his head, his lips, a swollen eye as my fist wailed on him over and over again. That piece of shit, fucking bastard. God, I wanted to scream. All I could feel was fury; the kind that grinds through your molars and numbs your fingers. The kind that blinds you to the fact you're in a goddamn church. The sound of hurried footsteps quickly filled the nave behind me, heels clicking against the marble floor. For a moment, I almost fired again. That's how wired I was, how ready for blood my soul yearned for."Michael!" G

Lucy POVIt had been a year.A year since I pulled the trigger and watched Vito's body drop like dead weight in the solarium. A year since the smell of blood sank into my lungs and stayed there, thick and metallic. I still dream about it; his final breath, the spray of red against glass, the sound my scream made when I realized what I'd done.I should've crumbled, and honestly, I almost did. But the months that followed, spent in a hospital with padded walls and forced calm, taught me how to live with it. Not erase it. Not forget. Just... live. And somehow, I did.Somehow, I found a quiet corner of life to call mine. A sliver of peace. And an old friend who somehow reminded me I was still human."God," Jared shouted as he took the seat beside me, arms folded across the stone railing of the terrace, "it's like the world decided to keep one secret patch of heaven just for us."He was right. The breeze carried jasmine and salt, the hillsides rolled like a painting, and the sea below shim

Michael POVVinnie had been talking for twenty straight minutes. That was twenty minutes too long."I'm telling you, it's the humidity. That's what's messing with your mood," he said, dragging his suitcase through the private terminal. "You should've moved to Vegas with me. Sunshine, no taxes, and Sio in a bikini all year round. What more do you want in life?""A world where you shut up for five minutes," I muttered, adjusting my sunglasses. I fucking hated planes, and Vinnie knew the last thing I needed was to be annoyed the whole way to the airport. I didn't even want to go on this stupid trip.Sio laughed softly behind us, tugging her oversized carry-on with one hand and holding a smoothie in the other like she'd been born in a yoga studio."You two have missed each other," she said with a smirk. "This is adorable.""One of us has," I grumbled."I missed you too, Michael," Vinnie said in a mock pout, slinging an arm over my shoulder. I shrugged it off immediately. As I moved throug

Michael POVI was in my office when Marie walked in, a silver envelope in her hand, sealed with gold wax."Special delivery," she said, placing it gently on my desk.I opened it slowly, already knowing what it was.A wedding invitation.Paul and Gio. Tuscany. A vineyard. Private ceremony.I stared at the words for a long time. They didn't feel real, at least not in my world. Not anymore. I'd spoken to Viv and Paul briefly over the last few months, but it was all business. I had no idea they were even planning a wedding. And to be honest, I wasn't sure I cared.I didn't have time for things like this. Celebrations felt trivial when I had an empire to rebuild. I tossed the envelope aside, already deciding to send a gift along with my regrets. But of course, I had a little sister who never let me go cold for too long. Amy always found a way to pull me back just enough to remind me I still had a heart buried somewhere under all the scars.Right on cue, my phone buzzed. I wouldn't doubt sh
