Four hours later they were still playing the games. She had tried to lay down on the bed, but it was no use, they were just too loud. She was at her wit's end. She got up and went over to the door. No one was paying attention to her as she made her way outside. She went over one door and knocked softly. If he was already asleep, she didn't want to wake him. The door swung open to reveal him in a pair of sleep pants and nothing else.
"Yes, Princess?", he asked as he opened the door wider to let her in.
"I know this is a weird question but can I crash on your couch?", She asked. He looked her over as he could plainly see she was beyond exhausted and ready to fall over.
"Problems with your place?", he asked.
"They are there, and they won't leave.", she stated.
"Who are they exactly?", he asked as she sat on the couch.
"My team.", she said. "The east coast main blue team."
"What are they doing here?", he asked.
"I have no clue. They saw a game system, and it was done.", she replied, and he chuckled having known a few gamers as well like Peter and the closet one in Justin. "I am so tired I didn't think it would be a problem but sure enough they are just too loud."
"Of course, you can crash here, Princess. Just not on the couch.", he said with a grin. "You can have the bed I will take the couch."
"Mike I can't do that. The couch wouldn't let you lie down if you tried. I'm smaller So it wouldn't be that bad."
"The bed is also too small for me. My feet hang over the side.", He said with a lopsided grin. Her heart started beating double time in the process.
"Then we have issues.", she said with a slight smile.
"Sleep on the bed princess.", he said.
"No.," she replied.
"Are you arguing?", he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Not really.", she said coyly. "Come on. I can't take your bed when I am the one asking for the favor."
"Princess, how about we compromise?", he asked.
"How?", she asked.
"We both sleep on the bed?", he asked.
"Not my.", she said before he cut her off.
"I don't mean it that way. Look you take that side. I'll take this one. Separate blankets and everything.", He said as he looked over her again. She was thinking about it. She was swaying on her feet too. "When is the last time you slept?"
"I have no clue.", she said. "Fine." She said as she moved the partition in the middle of the room and she flopped down. "Your bed doesn't squeak near as much as mine does."
"Good information to know.", He said with a laugh. He covered her up as she was almost asleep already and looked down at her. "Good night Princess."
"G'Nite Mike.", She said into her pillow. He wondered about the slight twist in fate as he glanced back at the sleeping woman curled up in his bed and wondered what he had done to be granted her trust.
One year later"I love it here.", Lori said as she leaned over the balcony on the deck."I know it is your favorite place.", Mike replied."No, it isn't.", she smiled as she turned to him."Really then where?", He asked as he looked at her as she smiled. He never got over that feeling of pure happiness from just seeing that smile she only gave him."Next to you is my favorite place.", she said as she stuck out her tongue and turned away to look over to the lake again."Oh really?", he said low and in her ear as he came to stand behind her."Mike you know that is my favorite place.", she said without turning to look at him."Is that why you asked to come out here this weekend?", he asked."No.," she smiled."Then why?", He asked as she usually just said let's go to the lake house for a quick getaway but this time she had made a big deal about going. She
"You have it all wrong.", she had said which brought them all to silence as they stared at her."And how do we have it wrong, Loriten?", Peter asked as he looked at her."Just wait.", she said. "It will be explained."
When he saw, she was ready, and he had packed up what was left of the food and clothes he had bought he led her to the car and helped her in. She looked at her phone but decided that it was best if she left it off for a little while instead laying her head back and closing her eyes. She didn't think she would hate going back to real life instead of her idyllic vacation, but a part of her didn't want to go back at all. The other part wanted nothing more than to go back and try to see what this thing with Mike was really. She was trying not to dissect everything instead just enjoy the feeling of what was blooming around them. She was happy, and it had been a long time since she had felt free with her emotions and feelings.
Mike stared at the ceiling as he felt the small weight settle onto the right side of his chest. His arms were draped over her as she slept soundly in her favorite spot it seemed. He needed her there. He realized though he was beyond spent he couldn't fall asleep. He was listening to the sounds of her breathing, and he was thinking about the day to come. He knew that wasn't going to be a good scene when he told the other two of his plans to keep her with him, or the fact he had somehow won her heart in the process of saving her. She was too good for him. He knew that they knew that, hopefully, she nev
She moved his shirt to cover her again, and he chuckled. "That is not a bad sight, but do keep it covered. I don't like to share.""Wonderful.", she said."Want a refill?", he asked as he looked at her empty cup of coffee."Sure.", She said as she sighed and he took the cup and disappeared into the house for a few minutes. She was sitting com
Lori awoke in Mike's arms as she felt his hands in her hair gently separating and knots that were there. Lori lifted her head and smiled at him as she saw the look in his eyes and her heart soared. The pair didn't speak as he moved her closer and whispered, "Go back to sleep. Tomorrow will probably be another long day."She snuggled into his chest and sighed contently. He chuckled a bit as he moved with her onto his side. "Are you cold?", he asked."No, you keep me rather
